Right, now I understand. That is a little more complex. As standard vBindex pulls all of your specified news threads into one box which you can control via the Admin CP.

However I think (and please correct me if I am wrong) what you want would require you to rebuild the system. As an example.

newsphrase1 would draw the news from thread 1,2,3,4 and put it in news box 1.
newsphrase2 would draw the news from thread 5,6,7,8 and put it in news box 2.

I don't think there is a way to make vBindex do this without hacking it. NTLDR correct me if I am wrong.

No need for NTLDR to tell you, you're right. There's coding to do here, which I thought someone here could help us, if not just me out, that would be really nice...

Here you go. Simply open the attached file and use its contents to replace the VBINDEX template information. You can do this via your style manager.

It will function with your vBindex admincp settings, so you can turn on or off the display of users from the last 24 hours.

The only thing lacking is the conditional to turn online users on and off. At the moment it is on by default but if NTLDR (or someone else) could assist by correcting the following conditional I can then complete the template.

Code:

<if condition="$show['onlineusers]">

Thanks very much for this, I will give it a go later

Hi there, I have tried this hack that you did for me but I'm afraid its wrong, a bit of a masturbating of my side I think, if you look at http://www.chetnet.co.uk/portal/forum/ them at the bottom, under what's going on, I would not mind having the currently active users at the bottom of the centre block in the portal.

Sorry for the misunderstand and hope you can still help me out

No problem. Try the attached file. Hope this fits the bill.

Thanks very much, that is exactly what I need, now you have me wondering if you could do the other modification to vbindex that I asked for, see this post , if not thanks no worries and thanks for sorting this one out for me

Chet
