No, I am stumped. His username is just a name with letters, nothing unusual.

He has the same primary and secondary group as others that can view the store. He has access to the store (I turned it on and off)

He has tried it in both Firefox and IE. I asked him if he would change his password and send it to me to check it out, he did and it was the same for me as it was for him. it's not his browser or system.

It's weird, usually I can figure these things out on my own, but this one I can't..

well since its only this one user and you cant seem to find the issue. why do you try creating a new user example test 1 then merge your user that has the issues to that one and see if it fixes the error. after you see it does then rename the user to his old name and test it again. hope this works. if you get another error then you will have to find a fix but ive had issues like this where its just 1 user and it never happens again. let me know

Thanks that was the missing piece. I gave up and was going to disable the default avatar options altogether.

That said, the selection process for a deafult avatar is pretty tedious, so I may disable it anyway.

Won't that reset some settings? He's a long standing member with paid subscriptions.

it should set everything from the merging user account to the test 1. with all defaults. post count , etc.

if you want i can test it with you. aim me at lnlsupport and i will post on a test user and you can do the same on another and well merge then to see what we get. im sure everything rolls over.

I can't recreate it, I have purchased multiple gifts in 1.1.7 with the pm enabled and all works great.

After looking at some of the code, you need to check a couple things. First make sure that the "from" user is a valid user. Set this in AdminCP >> eStore Optoins >> Manage Options and then look for "Default PM Userid to send PM's from" towards the bottom. Make sure you have a userid (number) and not a username (name) in there. Also verify that the userid is a valid one. So if you want the pm's to be sent from you, set your userid # in there, save it, and try to purchase again.
