nope there is no good working shoutbox for vb3.0.7, i wish someone would code one :)

Wow, I guess thats the big drawback of upgrading apparently. Has anyone tried a complete reinstall of the sb?

I have it running on 3.0.7 and have had no worries so far.

My only concern with it is this. How do i make it smaller in height? Its too big height wise and is making my page very long.

Edit the Iframe size in your forum home header template. Just look around for height somewhere in the Shoutbox code.

I would bet $$$ that is because of hack!........I can't uninstalll or reinstalll anything at this point...I get sql errors...

my registered members cant see the shout box, how do you edit the permissions?

Goto your AdminCP and look at the Usergroups..click that and check each usergrounp out ie: member

THen scroll unstil you see something about the shoutbox, change it to yes..
I think!!!...I can't remember and since it does not work on my site I removed it....

But I do remember you have to set it up thru usergroups to be able to see it!!

hi bbcvman i know what your saying but my problem is something went wrong with the install and for some reason the option to set permissions aint there. is there a way of sorting this?

Hmmmmm....Im not sure what the problem would be then. I still can't get it to work on my 3.0.7 site....and support for this hack is gone!

Wait, I just thought about this, unintsall it and clear your cookies, make sure you have a backup of the site and sql. then reinstall it again...give that a try!

Ok, Does Anyone Plan On Making This Shout Box Work Or Not!. If Not Then This Thread Should Be Locked! By Leaving It Open, You Are Simply Teasing Those Who Want To Use It And No One (not Even Support) Will Change It To Work With 3.0.7. It Is Very Apprearent That Alot Of People Are Having Problems With This One. It Was Working Fine For Me, Then I Upgraded And There It Went Into Left Field!......

Ok, since there is no more support for this maybe someone can recode this one to work with vB....Im using it now and works like a charm!!!

hi guys i installed it every thing work 1000% but i got a litleproblome i can't delete/edit shoutox can anyy boday help me with it

just go into your shout.txt file and clear it out when you want to, thats it! As for delete/edit, this is a very generic shoutbox and you can't do that, as far as I know of, or maybe just go into you shout.txt and change the shout there and save it....Hmmmmm Ill have to give that a try myself. I was hoping when I found this program and posted it here, that someone would step up and make something of it to work better with vB....we are still waiting....

Also, why is it that there are 50 pages of posts and Not One Support Person is trying to fix this problem. In BIG RED BOLD LETTERS its gives you a link for support, yet at that site, they don't offer support either!!!

There is a cron file somewhere, not sure if it's here or vBa that will prune shouts for you. Search for shoutbox and you'll find it, that's how I did.

I want to relate some info I found, the hard way. With newer versions of MySQL the queries for the install of this hack fail. I have attached a file to correct this. If you already ran the install and got to the failure, which says something like "Invalid Default Value '0'," you should comment out the first two queries before running it again. The settings and phrases will not give you problems. Replace the existing file in /install/hacks/shoutbox/14 or something similar.

This only solves the one problem, and I don't purport to know how to fix any others. But I did miss this info somewhere around post 500 in this ridiculously long thread. And I agree, most of these posts wouldn't be here if the people who wrote this fixed it and or it's instructions.

when uploading files, index.php would be your forum home right (not a portal)? So I could call it: forums.php if that's what my forums were located at? Or would I want to edit it to have all our modifications in?

EDIT: It's not forum home. May I ask what it is as I've uploaded everything in the 14 folder except for it. And does it need to be named that?

If you read the directions, the uploads go to /install/. . . with the exception of shoutbox.php AFAIK.

man i can't Edit the shoutbox it's only delete by slef

can any help me how 2 Edit the shout box becaseu i can't find the ICON of it?

King Kovifor, don't worry bout it, I got it installed.

Ok my support issue, it seems that when someone presses enter or clicks Shout Now, it sends that user to /shoutbox.php which is just a white screen, any reason why that is?

There will not be a cron job for this hack...I found this hack and its very very generic...it does not even us sql! You have to manually goto shout.txt and delete the contents to clear all shouts.....

My shout box use to work fine now I went to install anew style and it went black. any ideals how i could fix this?

Just a small thing. Shoutbox is installed and working well. Thanks for the good hack.

However there is one thing that annoys me, the 200 ok screen pops up when ever someone shouts in there. I was wandering if there was any way to get rid of this?
