Oh, I didn't realize that was down there before. But anyway, yes, it's checked.

Hi Ted,

Great mod!

Sorry if this has already been asked. Is there a way to see someone's total helpful points (when using the 10-point scale) on their profile page? Any way to show it in the postbit?

Also, is there any way to show the top 10 most helpful users in a sidebar widget?

-Damon

struff 09-14-2010 02:21 PM

I deleted this because it wasn't working and I wanted to reinstall it. But it did not delete the options in my ACP. How can I manually fully uninstall everything so I can start with a fresh clean slate?

Thanks.

Chirag patel 09-14-2010 07:22 PM

Can users who are not registered rate specific forum posts?

Also I would like to ask you to consider a feature where if a user is not registered and wants to rate a specific post, he/she should use reCaptcha to verify their identity.

Also another things to consider is that allow only up to X number of pposts they can rate.

Try installing the file again and then removing it, vBulletin gets plugins stuck from time to time and forgets to remove parts

I'll add them both to the suggestion list.

You can access the variables {vb:raw post.helpfulcnt} and {vb:raw post.hagoodrank}

Got it.

Thanks!

I get a path error when anonymous reporting is on. Would love to help you with the data collection but not if it shows an error message ;P. Any ideas?

Robb M. 09-17-2010 02:07 PM

Hi Ted,

I had a lot of problems getting the mod to display for some reason. Now it displays, and ratings are working, but I keep getting this error:
Quote:

Warning: curl_setopt() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given in [path]\helpfulanswers.php on line 483
Are you able to shed any light please?

cheers,
robb

Running Helpful Answers 2.3.3 on vB 4,.0.7.

I disabled the option to give negative ratings, removed all negative ratings through the Helpful Answers tool in the Admin CP.

Now all rated posts display this message:
Quote:

%1$s members found this post helpful. Did you find this post helpful?
Any ideas?

Try reverting the templates. vBulletin has an issue where data gets "stuck" and needs to be forcefully updated.

sticky 09-29-2010 09:08 AM

Hey Ted, I was hoping I could convince you to add in the "reputation user spread" variable. I know I have asked before, but I would gladly pay you for this. I just really need this check as people continue to abuse the system to negatively rate the same person over and over. It is becoming a big issue on my board.

I just thought since it is your mod it would be best for you to get the money for it as you deserve it.

Pro-eSports.com 10-01-2010 12:37 PM

For some reason this mod ain't showing up in posts. I enabled it and did all the settings.
I disabled manual template placement so it does it automatically. So how can I fix the issue of the mod not appearing in posts?

vB 4.0.7

Run the bulk forum enabler.

Pro-eSports.com 10-02-2010 12:02 PM

I forgot to enter the forum ID's that's why it didn't work.
Suggestions for future updates of this mod:

- an option to enable it in all forums (without entering all the ID's)
- an option to enable it in forums by entering the category ID's

Where exactly can I edit the text color of the mod? I want it to be a bit more transparent or something so it doesn't color clash with the post.

You can edit color with the template editor, just search for helpful answers

Pro-eSports.com 10-03-2010 02:42 AM

I found the helpful_answers template and a code bit which has the word color in it but when I changed the color it had no effect.

PHP Code:

<br /><hr size="1" style="color:$stylevar[tborder_bgcolor]/>
                <
vb:if condition="$vboptions[helpans_neg]"

I tested it with:
style="color:000000"
and
style="color:#000000"

:(

Which color are you looking to change?

Pro-eSports.com 10-03-2010 11:30 AM

Something like grey/silver so the mod text looks a bit more transparent. Still readable but not irritating the reader of a post.

Try this: #41383C

But let me know where exactly you change it in case it's not the 100% correct color.

Thanks. ;)

mihai11 10-03-2010 06:40 PM

Is this working for the blog also? I mean, for the comments that users give on a blog entry?

Ramjet79 10-04-2010 07:46 PM

Hey. Thanks for this mod. I'm testing it out on our dev site currently.

I had a couple of suggestions that would help us immensely.

(If these features don't already exist) Can you add a function to disallow rating of posts by administrators/moderators? i.e. People cannot vote posts made by admins and mods, etc (or selectable usergroups).

Also, I would love for there to be an option to "view only helpful posts in thread" or something. For example, if I am using a positive only system, a user could select an option to only view posts that have been rated as helpful, and leave everything else invisible.

The point being (whether using a negative, or positive only system) users who wanted to, could easily cut to the meat of a thread, and ignore the noise by choosing to view only posts in the thread that have been rated helpful (either at all, or an admin set minimum number of positive ratings)

Thanks.

Your code changed a line break... so that wont do much. Are you looking to change the font?

Expertu 10-05-2010 01:03 PM

I have a small problem with this mod. In posts/threads where the rating system appears, the correct white background is screwed up, and some tables/divs appears smaller or larger than they are by default, without this mod.

Page with Helpful Answers: http://forum.seopedia.ro/google/1393...lasi-ip-2.html (If you notice, the 3rd post box, is larger in width, than the 1st or the 2nd post.)

This may have already been asked but to save going through 50 pages I will ask now.

I have noticed that users can only rate one post per thread. is there a setting to allow users to rate many posts within a thread?

You should be able to rate as many posts in a thread as are within your ratings allowed per day variable.

Vikingant 10-06-2010 11:01 AM

Thanks Sticky. Where would I find that? I cant find a setting in helpful answers or reputation settings.

Expertu 10-06-2010 05:08 PM

Can anyone help with my question, please ? Did anyone experience anything similar ?

You should see the helpful answers settings under admincp > settings > options and scroll down toward the bottom to "helpful answers settings."

Happy to help, I love this mod.

Expertu 10-06-2010 06:13 PM

About my previous question, I tried to debug the problem myself, and after trying various settings, I found the culprit:

Quote:

Hide Negative Posts
If enabled, negative voted threads will be hidden.
If I enable this setting, I get the problem I explained on the previous page. If I disable it, all is ok. Moreover, when I activate it, it doesn't even hide posts with 6 negative votes, even though I have set it up, to hide posts with 5 negative votes.

Users can rate an unlimited number of posts per thread.

Vikingant 10-09-2010 12:39 AM

Thank you Sticky.
For further clarification to others with this issue (took me a moment to work it out) I needed to change the 'Enable Single Post Voting' to no. :D

Vikingant 10-09-2010 02:09 AM

Double post for some reason? deleted

Expertu 10-12-2010 07:36 PM

Ted, can you give any kind of tip, to help resolve my problem ?

Ted, I still need help with the text color issue. :o

From last page: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...233296&page=50

I figured out that the text color of your mod is using the text color of posts. How can I make it that the mod text is seperated from post color?

<SOLVED>
this is the third time I've installed this product and still having problems. Installed as requested on 4.07. All installations went fine. This time, when you click on one of the thumbs, or whatever graphic is enabled the system chokes and spits back a 404 not found error in a separate window. Ted I can give you access via PM if you want to see. I've attached a screen shot of the page that comes up, which seems very strange. Again, this happens when a user clicks on one of the graphics I think some relative path is out of whack as it's displaying my host url. But everything else works in vbulletin, no errors, so assuming the relative paths VB is using are correct?

Edit. OK, I reinstalled and THAT error went away, now I'm getting: Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: Invalid curl configuration option in [path]/helpfulanswers.php on line 483 when clicking on the graphic I don't think the program likes
me.

Edit: Well I searched in this thread and found suggestion "turn of the reporting" so that did it.

Thank you for your help
You are welcome
No problem
Anytime

;)

Thanks

alfanexus 10-16-2010 04:17 PM

Would it be possible to use this on blogs aswell? So users could rate blogs with the same function?
