With a default AME install on default vB, the largest flag one works for me OR your server does not allow for extraction (via cCurl or file_get_contents). Since the URL isn't resolving, I would guess the latter. Turn off the Extract Destination setting in your AME settings page.

yes when i Turn off the Extract Destination setting in my AME settings the youtube videos working start....

so why it will not working with Extract Destination setting in my AME settings and how it can working start with Extract Destination setting in my AME

below link without Turn off the Extract Destination setting in my AME settings:

please help on that.

The Geek 07-11-2009 10:35 AM

As per my above post, your server doesnt allow cCurl or file_get_contents. At least 1 of those functions are required to extract data from the target web sites.

That link was made over a week ago. Have you tried editing/saving?

testebr 07-11-2009 10:03 PM

Dear The Geek,

How to make this plugin work to parse video links on rss poster?

Thanks!

how i can restore that function from server and i will be contact with my server for that.

mc2w 07-12-2009 07:21 PM

This is a great mod, however, is it possible to force AME to use a media bbcode or something? I'm sure there are some people who would want the choice of linking as well.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the posting option. Thanks!

New problem though: Any line breaks added in for formatting after any media parsed by AME gets removed.

As I said above, the media isnt validating because you have the extraction setting turned on, but your server doesn't support ccurl OR file_fet_contents via a URL wrapper. Turn off the extraction setting and/or remove the validation for the youtube definition.

Hey there,

I don't quite understand what you're saying here. Can you post an example?

Also, please click install if you installed it ;)

Thanks!

Do you mean using vB's function to post RSS feeds as threads? In theory it should work, though in all honesty I haven't ever tested it so it could require some tweaking. Can you please provide an example of the RSS feed you are using so I can test?

You can test any Youtube rss. Every day I run manually the rebuild tool of Ame to parse that links :/

The Geek 07-13-2009 02:15 PM

Ok, Ill look into seeing how it can be supported in the next version (but can't promise anything until I have looked into it ;) )

Is there any way to embed HD Youtube videos?

Reycer 07-13-2009 08:55 PM

for some reason, this just quit working. None of the vids work anymore. It was working and then *poof* it quit one day.

mc2w 07-14-2009 02:41 AM

Example:
In the WYSIWYG editor my post will look like:
Quote:

Line one:
youtube link here

Line 2.

Line 3.
But after parsing, it looks like:
Quote:

Line 1.
Youtube embed.
Line 2.
Line 3.
However, the line breaks remain intact if the AME parsing is disabled for the post.

popular 07-14-2009 07:16 AM

whenever i try to post i get some weird code like "http://<div style="display: none;" i...<br /> </div>"

it just stopped working today know why?

Have you changed anything on your site lately? One of the more common things that stops AME working is using a mod that modifies URLs (i.e. using vBSEO to track outbound links). If not, provide a URL as an example

Not sure how AME could affect this. AME only changes the output of the link, not the text around it. Can you provide a URL as an example?

Looks like you may have duplicate definitions. Remove any duplicates you have.

Thanks.

Update

I just disable passiveVid (Automaticlly turns video links like youtube, myspace videos, google vidoes into the video players) and I have no two Youtube videos anymore BUT I'm not seeing the Google videos anymore, just the link. I do have the AME working bc of the way the Youtube video shows (see attachment) but now nothing else is showing, just the link.

By default, AME only comes with definitions for Youtube and Amazon. Try importing this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=195884

Thanks MC2, I was thinking on that this afternoon and for some reason I get lost w/ so many AME's but now you just redirected me to the right track, i'm downloading and installing the product, fingers crossed.

I have come across this only once before and it took hours for me to find the problem. If indeed it is the same anomoly It is some kind of variable caching that is causing AME's processes to get mixed up. TO resolve it, try this and let me know (note that you will need to do this for future upgrades unless I can find a way around it)

Both changes are to the includes/ame_bbcode.php file.

Change 1:

around line 45 Find:
PHP Code:

    if ($refresh)
    {

$inied false;

    }

replace with:
PHP Code:

    if ($refresh)
    {

$inied false;

$ameinfo = array();

    }

around line 296 find:

PHP Code:

$ameinfo fetch_full_ameinfo(true);

replace with:

PHP Code:

$ameinfo fetch_full_ameinfo(truetrue);

The first screenshot is me added a link in a code box to show people how you only have to link to it.

The second is screenshot is what I get after I save and reopen the post in the editor. You'll see that the line break(s) that seperated the unembedded url (in the code box) to the "Vimeo" have been removed.

Not sure what to make of that, as far as I can tell, the only difference between the two is that there is a missing line break after the code block in the second picture. AME does some limited processing of code blocks (to prevent AME from enbedding in quotes and such) but not sure how this would cause what you are saying. Anyhoo, i'll look into it, but am busy trying to put together a new version that supports a testbed and overridable options.

Thanks :)

This by far is very awesome. I am wondering though, how I can take my own videos that are on my server and have it do this for FLV and SWF files. Is this possible? Because this would be very needed since youtube videos are capped at 10 minutes and I would like to play my 45 min interviews. thanks in advance.

The Geek 07-18-2009 09:30 AM

Thanks. Think there is a defintion for this in DJ's thread, but I'm not 100% sure if its updated or not.

PLease click install if you intalled :)

Reycer 07-20-2009 12:41 AM

ok I have tried SEVERAL times, uninstalling and reinstalling, but all I am ever getting on any video is something similar to this when it posts.

[fox_news]http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video08.html?maven_referralObject=7069951&maven_re ferralPlaylistId=&sRevUrl=http://www.foxnews.com/[/fox_news]

No video. On anything. Any thoughts as to why?

The Geek 07-20-2009 08:46 AM

That isn't AME. AME doesn't add tags like that.

Scitz0 07-22-2009 09:55 AM

I just installed this module on my 3.8.3 forum but I have a problem with the import. No matter what I try it always say(translated from swedish) "No file uploaded and no local file found.". And yes, I use AME CP->Import Definitions. Tried to browse to the file stored on my computer, tried to upload the file to the server and import localy and I even tried to rename the file so there are no special chars or spaces. The files I have tried are from https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...195884&page=49 , tried both the master xml and a single definition with the same result. Not sure what to do.

Need help resolving this please.

Example
URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZcG0...eature=related
Converts: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/ YouTube - Boyz II Men - End Of The Road

URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsd0pKGr2Os
Converts: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/ YouTube - The Jets - The Same Love

Also, the source code in the default YouTube definition is no longer used by YouTube, so not all videos will load in that case.

I have similar issue on vBulletin v3.8.2 and AME v2.5.5.

When I post full URL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8OLcbxZ0cA) everything is OK, player will appear. But when I post URL without http://, it shows only link with this target:
http://www.svethardware.cz/forum/www...?v=i8OLcbxZ0cA

It adds URL of our forum to beginning and link is of course not working. How to change it please? Besides that this mod is great becouse users don't need to learn something new, thanks.

Scitz0 07-22-2009 10:35 AM

Got it to work now, had to retry several times before it accepted the xml.

The example above isn't related to this. Those examples were working as intended as embedding was disabled (in fact, neither of those videos are valid links anymore anyway)

However this I just confirmed as indeed a bug. The bug is that if no protocol is included (i.e. no http://) then the link will be malformed. I have included the fix in the next release but as I am heading out on Holiday Saturday, Ill post it here for those that want to apply the fix sooner.

in includes/ame_bbcode.php on or around line 492 find

PHP Code:

$url str_replace(array("[url]""[URL]""[/url]""[/URL]"), array("","","",""), $param1);

and directly below it, add:

PHP Code:

        if (!preg_match('#^[a-z0-9]+(?<!about|javascript|vbscript|data):#si'$url))
        {

$url "http://$url";

I think I might have a similar issue. I just upgraded to vB 3.8.3, and I'm finding that valid video links convert to standard URL tags, not AME tags. I don't use the WYSIWYG editor, so I don't think it has anything to do with the color tags, if that makes a difference.

Not sure if it's important, but when it changes to URL tags, the link is displayed as if embedding were disabled:
Attachment 102400

Also, I noticed that if I manually change the URL tags to AME tags, it shows up correctly, BUT if I try to edit the post again, the AME tags revert back to URL tags. But the ame_strip function seems to be doing this, so maybe it's on purpose, with the expectation that it will be converted back to AME tags?

Anyhow, maybe I'll jump back to the previous version of AME, but I thought I'd let you know about it :)

Thanks for all your great work with this mod, by the way!

The videos are simply not appearing. Just a heads-up that it's not an isolated incident... great looking mod though, so I'll try to be patient :)

Let me guess -- and the tooltip was showing up when you hovered the link, saying "External Embedding Not Available"?

I think I just figured this out:
Turn off "Extract destination data" in the settings. It seems like it's detecting embedding as disabled regardless. You'll need to rebuild to fix old posts, but any new posts should just show up.

This is vB3.8.3 by the way, in case it helps Geek!

Cheers all

UPDATE: The only other plug-in that seemed like it might conflict was the "Auto-Merge Post" plugin, which also uses the newpost_complete hook. I disabled it and the problem was still there.

This mod is great. Thanks to everyone involved.

Is there a way to change the color of the font above the videos without changing the color in the actual forum style? If not is there a way to change which font color (First Alternating Color), it pulls from in the forum style?

Not sure about the automerge hack (which I noticed in your attachement) however i did notice that the video that embeded clearly didn't extract the definition data as the title was just 'You Tube'. There is either a subtle bug with validation when extraction isn't enabled (or working) or you have extraction on, but your server doesn't allow it (i.e. you don't have ccurl). Edit the Youtube definition and either remove the validation regexp or turn off the 'extraction' setting.
