That doesn't sound like an ftp error to me, are you sure you are using ftp ?

Audentio 10-21-2007 01:48 AM

Hey there,

Ive used this mods on other forums, but on one of my other forums it doesnt show up at all even though I clearly have it enabled. Are there certain requirements Im missing?

Paul M 10-21-2007 10:20 AM

The automatic template insertion requires a certain (default) comment to exist in the forumhome template, also, the "What's Going On" display must be enabled.

madotds 10-21-2007 01:04 PM

thank you installed

Makc666 10-22-2007 07:50 AM

Paul, why you didn't update mod's name?
Code:

<title>Guest Tracking</title>

Paul M 10-22-2007 11:00 AM

Because it's not important or necessary.

momo2 10-24-2007 04:10 PM

I did everything right but i can't see it..

because you have not set permissions for individual usergroups.

Er, I cant find it in Usergroups Manager...

tryance 10-25-2007 01:11 AM

I can't find it in under groups manager either so I can not see it as well. I had to upload the tracking guest file. The bitfield file gave me an invalid error. I have V3.6

editL I went in and physically uploaded the fieldbit file in the includ/xml folder and now it works and uploaded the XML through products manager.

Thanks

Can you please explain how you did that once more? Im not seeing mine come up either.

bulletinboard 10-26-2007 12:05 AM

Excellent addon, thanks.

mandazi 10-27-2007 11:16 PM

I downloaded it. Uploaded the bitfield_track-guests.xml to the includes/xml folder. Then I went to the Admin CP and impored the track-guests.xml. Everything imported fine on the screen. I went to my forum, and it doesn't appear on the bottom.

Did I miss something?

Edit: Nevermind, I got it to work.

Yes, you did ;

* Set your required permissions in the usergroup manager.

By default no permissions are given, you must set them.

AdminCP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager

Edit each of your primary usergroups, scroll down to the panel marked "Guest Tracking Permissions", edit the settings for each. All are off by default. HTH

[high]* TigerWare clicks installed.

Good stuff Paul M, you rock.

Audentio 10-29-2007 12:58 AM

No, you dont understand. It ISNT in usergroup manager. I understand instructions, I installed the plugin and product and went to usergroup manager to find nothing.

I even used find to look for "tracking" and all that I got was pm tracking. Ive tried redoing it, nothing of it though.

Paul M 10-29-2007 08:05 AM

Have you copied the bitfield file to the correct place on your server ?

McMendo 10-29-2007 06:48 PM

My mistake. Please, delete.

Youre a smart man :). Somehow I put the wrong file in there, a dumb mistake on my part. Thanks a lot Paul. Great mod, installed, 5/5.

EDIT: Sorry, I have one more problem. Even though I have spider tracking on, I am only getting a list of visitors. DO you know why this is?

Paul M 10-29-2007 08:58 PM

Have you turned in on in all required places ?

Audentio 10-29-2007 09:55 PM

The only one I know of is in vB Options > Guest Tracking > Detect Spiders and I have that set to yes.

Paul M 10-29-2007 10:31 PM

See the red note in the main modification post. ;)

Audentio 10-29-2007 10:53 PM

It is clicked :). I had it clicked before I installed this mod. Hm, youd think I would get spiders.

Eh, its really no big deal, the spiders. Im sure its a fault by my part somewhere, nothing to do with your mod. If used it on other boards of mine and its worked fine.

Thanks Paul!

Dream 10-29-2007 11:01 PM

Thanks for the update.

Just a little cosmetic thing, instead of linking (4639) link only the number, it would look a little better. I know I can change it just some feedback.

class101 10-30-2007 06:24 PM

installed, marked installed, subscribed to thread, voted 5 stars, addicted, great job PaulM ^^

Dream 11-04-2007 12:16 AM

I think there's a problem with the "most users ever" day, it says Today when it was yesterday, and Yesterday when it was 2 days ago. Im on GMT -3 with DST on.

Paul M 11-04-2007 04:09 AM

It uses standard vb functions to display the date/time, so I can't think of any reason why it would do anything different to the rest of your site.

dartho 11-05-2007 08:11 AM

Thanks!

If you plan further development, it would be nice to have the IP address of guests resolve when clicked, in the same manner as the do on the vBulletin "Who's Online" page...

nanaimobar 11-07-2007 02:47 PM

I have another statistics mod that displays much of the same info except for your exceptional guest tracking features.

The problem is the "What's going on" template doesn't appear anywhere on my forum or in my admin section when I search templates. Searching Forumhome template for "whats" or "whats_going_on" returned nothing.

I've set permissions for admin only and I believe other settings on board are ok.

Any suggestions where I've made a mistake? Could another stats mod interfere with Guest Tracking somehow?

Thanks.

UPDATE!

Found problem. Old template. Sorry to bother you.

ViViD 11-08-2007 07:00 PM

Hi ,
Is there any hack like this to track registered users visits ?

Paul M 11-08-2007 07:13 PM

Not at the moment.

golfum 11-15-2007 01:25 PM

Kinda having a problem. New to Vbulletin and making changes.

I have unzipped the files to my includes/xml folder

then go to the control pannel to install a new product. point to the xml file bitfield_track-guests.xml.

and it says: Invalid File Specified

Any help. I know i am doing something stupid.

I have a few things i have installed but must be missing something.

Paul M 11-15-2007 02:54 PM

You don't import the bitfields file, just copy it to the includes/xml fiolder, and import the product file.

./includes/xml/bitfield_track-guests.xml

in the import the product file.

then get Invalid File Specified

Paul M 11-15-2007 04:35 PM

Why are you trying to import the bitfield file ?

What product file there are two files that come across in the zip file.
bitfield_track-guest.xml
bitfield_vbulletin.xml

Thanks for your help.

I dunno where you got that file from, but it doesn't exist in the zip I have, the product file is called track-guest.xml and the bitfield file (to upload) is called bitfield_track-guests.xml.

HTH

Hello,

I installed this on my new Discuss New York Forum.

Quick question, something seems odd with the math here.

Please see the attached image. Thanks!
