oh right. another mod they took from a users created idea and never paid them royalties for....nice.

MissKalunji 04-26-2008 06:36 PM

i guess it was giving freely to the community...i doubt they took his code just his idea :-/ but i see what you mean..

HP10T 04-28-2008 07:35 PM

I have installed this on my board had it running for quite some time now, 4+ months. The other day someone called me and told me that they weren't able to register because the NoSpam question was answered wrong but that they were never prompted for a NoSpam answer during the registration process.

I checked for myself and indeed there was no nospam question...

I have unintsalled and reinstalled the product with no luck. I went through the troubleshooting and did everything that suggested which changed nothing. I went through the integration.txt and did everything but the quickregister since I believe I have quickregister disabled and one still cannot see the nospam question.
This is on VB 3.5.4

Does anyone have any ideas?

captainron19 04-29-2008 04:10 PM

I am using this on VB Version 3.6.4 and have been using it for a while. A couple of people have emailed me because they are having trouble registered and it is telling them that the No Spam question was answered incorrectly. They stated they cannot see a question.

While on the phone with one o fthe people I logged off of the forum and went to register and I saw the No spam question just fine but he was describing the screen he was looking at and it was not showing at all.

Any reason why this would not be showing on someones specific PC? He was using Internet Explorer (as was I)

HP10T 04-29-2008 05:46 PM

I am glad I am not the only one that is having this problem. I have been trying to figure this out for the last 2 months with no response on the other thread.

CaptainROn:: I checked your site and I am indeed seeing the nospam question using firefox version 2.0.0.14

Which site did you check? The only one I am hearing from people where they are not seeing the No Spam Question is www.fire-forums.com

Oh just checked that one and it seems to be working fine. Whats the cool wet stuff fire fighters use..

Digital Jedi 04-30-2008 08:47 AM

I just registered on your site Ron, and it showed up just fine in IE7. The question also shows up in FireFox and Opera when I check. I can't imagine whey their not seeing it.

Boofo 04-30-2008 09:23 AM

The question shows up fine. The legends don't show up though so that might be why they are saying that.

HP10T 04-30-2008 05:41 PM

Do you guys mind checking utahnissans.com?

MissKalunji 04-30-2008 06:06 PM

no only the image verification

dreamache 05-01-2008 08:34 AM

I have the same exact issue on my forum.. I get emails sometimes from people who want to signup, but can't because it says the nospam question is wrong, but they see no where to specify an answer... I always thought maybe they're just lunatics, until I actually experienced this issue myself with a forum I'm trying to signup to now. So WTF!?

Chimpie 05-01-2008 01:36 PM

Is anyone else having problems with this in the 3.7 Gold? The question is not appearing.

eJM 05-01-2008 04:28 PM

How many times do you need to be told? You don't need this hack in 3.7. Read before you post. Webmasters should know this already.

perfphysio 05-05-2008 03:07 PM

HI guys

since updating recently to 3.7.0 release 5 i think i am unable to register any users. I am not sure where this mod is the issue but this is the comment i get with it enabled or diabled

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched."

Any assistance really appreciated

it was integrated in 3.7.x you don't need this mod...

So how do you get the question AND image verification to work... without this mod, its one or the other. I preferred both actually.

WeBBy 05-12-2008 03:24 PM

AND where the heck is it in 3.7.0????
I too used to use Image Verification and NoSpam! (and still get bots), but I do not see the NoSpam equivalent in 3.7.0. The manual shows a completely different "Human Verification" screen than I have???

Its like the third option under vBulletin options. Its basically a choice between a few different methods, you can't (as far as I can tell) have multiple. Thats why this really hasn't been replaced completely.

SupportAM 05-14-2008 04:47 PM

I uploaded file and enabled it but still seeing image verification??

Videx 05-16-2008 01:39 PM

I too can't find it as an additional option in 3.7. 3.7 seems to instead offer a choice between a question and images.

I'd rather have captcha AND a question.

Lemik 05-20-2008 01:51 PM

When the version appears to vB 3.7.x ?

AdrianH 05-21-2008 03:52 AM

Hey there antialiasis, a version for v3.7 would be very much appreciated, the Recaptcha system is all but useless as the bots are now able to walk straight by it.

Videx 05-21-2008 04:41 AM

I dunno, the more I think about it the more I think maybe the 'random' question by itself will work. Certainly better than the cracked captcha anyway.

We've been a week with 3.7 and a question alone and no bots yet (knock on wood!).

AdrianH 05-21-2008 12:21 PM

Read the thread by Andreas over at vB.com

They're getting past the questions on my site, but haven't actually been making threads. I've banned a good dozen users in the last week who sign up, create a signature with a link to some random website and never post.

Would also very much like to see this ported to 3.7 so that it can be used alongside Captcha.

RedWingFan 05-22-2008 01:44 AM

We're getting spam registrations from China now, on a regular basis. We have had CAPTCHA turned off for several months, and using the questions alone, we've had very few spam incidents. I'm thinking this recent wave is via human registrations, or they've figured out our questions and how to reply to them. We're redoing our questions to see if they stop the spammers.

Videx 05-22-2008 01:47 AM

This is probably the wrong thread for it, but I sure would like to hear the questions that have been 'cracked".

My forum is a local city forum and I ask a question about local politics. They can get the answer from wikipedia, but [I think] it'll take a human to do it.

FENIX 05-23-2008 06:06 AM

Installed on 3.7 - it seems to be working however it does not display on the registration page. I know it's working, because when you try and register you get an error from NoSpam! saying the question was answered incorrectly!

Will wait for a port, or someone who has it on 3.7 to help :)

calopez 05-23-2008 09:20 AM

Hi,

I have installed the mod in my vBulletin 3.6.4 and I have a problem.

The question does not appear in Quickreply. The variables $nospamquestion, $spamvalue, etc. have no value.

I've checked several times the installation and I've done everything correctly. Any idea?

Greetings ^^

bmwusa 05-26-2008 04:03 AM

Please read before you post. There's no easy answer, and the last two pages discuss the issue.

Why would you even want this for 3.7?

It's a default feature in 3.7... Or at least that's what I've heard.

wrong................ v3.7 uses either image or recaptcha or q+a.

This mod was in addition to captcha and allowed both to be present, and right now the bots are walking by the recaptcha etc so any extra help is a bonus.

Indeed. This mod needs to be updated to support vB 3.7.
Any takers, coders?

Doallyn 05-27-2008 07:54 PM

anyone tried it on 3.7? i should work in theory as its just an addition to the registration form??

Doallyn 05-27-2008 08:11 PM

nah doesn't work - it installs and but the questions don't appear on the registration page, must be a change to the template - this needs updating

credenscel 05-28-2008 10:01 PM

We tried it and unfortunately it doesn't work, i figure it needs some updating.

Best regards,

Flar

BicyclePunk 05-30-2008 04:35 PM

Well...I upgraded to 3.7.1 and the NoSpam! won't work...meaning there is no box or question or answer during registration. yet when you go through registration it won't finish because NoSpam! won't let you....

....and I have it completely disabled in admincp!

How do I remove it so people can register and/or I use the new built-in Human Verification in 7.1. Thanks!
