From the database sturcture of the vb pager hack, that shoud not be a problem, but you might want to check with your host porvider where they might have a row limitation per tables!

He found the footer was the issue. He moved his code to the top of the footer and everything worked out fine. Not sure why though as the only other code there was my google ad and that's been there since before the pager but hey, I don't care, it's working again.

First of all, what a hack! I LOVE IT! I am even considering disabling the PM system, so people use only VBPager.

Anyway, I have a question. On my site, I have a Flash Banner being displayed and sometimes, when VBPager pops up with an incoming message, any part of the VBPager window that overlaps the banner, will be BEHIND the flash banner, and I cannot read the contents of the message.

And if the area where one clicks to drag the window, falls behind the flash banner, then I can't possibly move the window.

Any help on this? Thanks in advance!

I'd love to be able to use this, but it don't like IE very well, and sometimes when people tried to type something in the messenger it auto-deleted them. I hope this get's updated soon to fix those problems though cause this is something i have wanted for awhile, but it's too buggy as it is.

Installed that great "product" and everything works fine. BUT: when i ban a userid, in this case is was "9606", NOBODY could send a pagermessage anymore. Can somebody confirm that bug ?

Hmmm. Couldn't get it to work.

When I sent a message to a user, nothing "popped up". And even though it says they have a pager message, there's nothing in their inbox.

Shame...

I have a feeling that this would pose a security risk and open some holes....

Where do you upload the pager_sound.wav ?? In the forum root? I can't get the sound to work.

I installed it today, and it works without any problems, but I would need advice for a little improvement.

I want the messenger symbol to be shown in the who is online list right to the username.

What code actully makes the popup appear. Everything works perfect on all pages Except the VBPROARCADE pages? They all have the same header and footers i think. . .

You know, one thing i don't understand is why this hack logs messages in the first place, it's a pager, it's not email or pm. I would say get rid of logging the messages, because some people would spam the hell out of the messenger, making the log quite extensive. It would only be a matter of time before it started slowing down the site. I REALLY REALLY want to install this, but with the flaws it has, argh i will just install anyways, but if people complain again i will uninstall.

I think it is do to the fack that it is a great mod........my user's on my site love it and they actually use it more often then pm'ing member's......make's the coversation feel more live and personal.

I can see where they would love it, but the log issue could become a problem on a large site.

Do you mind if I ask how many concurrent sessions you have, and what effect the pager system has had on your server?

I typically have about 200 users online at any given time, and they are very chatty...verrrrrrrry. I love them for it, but I panic on things that might bring my server to its knees.

Isn't there a cron job running that's deleting all the read messages every hour?

How does the inclusion of a board "instant mesage" service affect the activity of your board? Has their been a drop in activity due to the emergence of a separate venue of communication between members, or has activity actually risen? Perhaps it's the same? I'm truly interested in acquiring this hack but much like shoutbox, I'm hesitant to do so if it might jeopardize the present activity of the forum.

Na, mine isn't even close to that number............I am lucky to have 7 or 8 member's on at one time. Even luckier if i get more then a total of 50 users/lookers in one day.......

mine has stayed about the same, but when a user is online and want's to talk or ask a question in private, then the pager system work's perfectly. If you want to send something to someone whom isn't online, then the private message works, because they will recieve the message when they log on......the shoutbox work's good for those that are chatter box's.....i think it is a great asset to our communities, and seem's to keep member's at our site's longer........

I ran into an error.

Installation went fine, but users, including myself, were unable to find a reply button on the instant message boxes. I've triple-checked the settings, including the usergroup permissions, and nothing.

Where do I mess up?

okay my first problem is i don't hear a sound when paged...secondly some of my users don't get a message per say....its a page message but empty. any ideas?

Checked and rechecked all my edits but it doesn't work.

I see this in upper right: Pager Messages: Unread 2, Total 12.
But no messages show up in inbox. Sent items DO show.
So...it's doing something but not actually sending the messages. Any ideas?

The only problem I have found is that on the forumhome page under where it says private mesages.. the link to the Pager is..when you click on that it just brings you back to the index. What could I have done wrong?

I've searched this thread, perhaps if I missed something regarding my question anyone could point me to the post#.

I've been tinkering trying to get the pager JS on forumhome in its own JS file... any ideas on how I can do this or what it may require to be done?

Make sure that the sound file is in the correct place, Turned On from ADMINCP/ vB Pager Options, and from your Options.

I'm not sure if I got you, but vB Pager does not use any JS file, everything comes from the templates!

When I want to send a Pager to everyone thats online, I click the checkbox at the top and it highlights everyone, then I click on Send Pager and it takes me to the box where I enter the message.

The message box stretches so it can fit all members in.

Not great when you have 100+ members online and there is a scrollbar at the bottom so big that it takes forever to scroll through.

Where can I edit the textbox to make it a fixed width?

i did and it is....other members that have firefox can hear it but no one with IE can hear it...

I want to know how can I integrate the buddy list from vB Pager and vBulletin's original buddy list.

My users constantly adds friends to their buddy list nad it won't be nice to make them add all users again.

well i would say yes....try to upload the files again reinstall and allow overwrite....i had a problem running the pager the first time i installed it.... carefully do the edits and i mean careful....secondly do you have more than one style?make sure the template edits are done on each one....

That is not only in the forumhom, it is attached to the footer template, and I don't think we can have it or call it from a js file, sorry but that will require a lot of modifactions to many places with the hack.

vbulletin's buddy list has its own restriction where a user in your ignore list will not be able to send you a pm, you won't be able to see their posts..etc, I don't know if you want to have someone in your pager ignore list and you don't want to see his/her posts nor get a PM from, it's not that I did not want to integrate both lists, but vbulletin should change the way their buddy list system works.

pageroption, pagerpermissions and pagerbuddylist are not tables, these are fields in the user and usergroup tables!

I have installed ok but when i try to use the pager it says "sorry you are not allowed to use VB pager !"
