From phpMyAdmin or from vBulletin AdminCP | Maintenance | Execute SQL Query, typemin and execute the following:

Code:

ALTER TABLE user DROP receivebulletin
Then reinstall.

Unfortunally I do not get it to work. Installed fine and am able to do all the settings. But no matter what I do, I do not receive any newsletter.

I have tried smtp and tried without. Tested if the username and pw were correct, check.
Also checked with my co-admin with an gmail adres, did not receive it too.

I have my own server and manage it myself, so those settings (max send per hour, safe mode etc) are ok.

Any more ideas what could be the cause of the trouble?

commbull simply uses vbulletin's mail sending function, so the problem is not likely to be from commbull itself.

check 2 things:
- the vbulletin mailqueue table to see if they are being added there
- server maillog to see how they are being handled by your server

I have similar issues and would love to use this mod.

please let me know how to resolve this error :

i'm not entirely sure why the uninstall did not drop the column receivebulletin, as the uninstall info is pretty straight forward and drops the 3 columns that are added.

My guess might be that you do not have permissions to use the SQL query "show columns", as both the install code and uninstall code check to see if the columns are there before installing / uninstalling.

I may have to figure out a way to check that "show columns" actually returns the proper results before running these checks.

to manually uninstall:
Code:

ALTER TABLE user DROP receivebulletin;
ALTER TABLE user DROP INDEX receivebulletin;
ALTER TABLE user DROP receivebulletin_type;

Thanks dj,

After doing that, another error crawled up

Database error in vBulletin 3.8.3:

Thanks for the quick support,

Does anything change knowing that I already dropped a table as suggested by DJ ?

Appreciate the promptness in response :)

Yes: Ignore the first DROP as you've already done that. Run the other two:

Code:

ALTER TABLE user DROP receivebulletin;
ALTER TABLE user DROP INDEX receivebulletin;
ALTER TABLE user DROP receivebulletin_type;

Okay Installed successfully but have some internal issues with my vendors code conflicting with this.. lets see how it goes.

djbaxter 08-22-2010 05:10 PM

Those are three separate SQL statements:

Code:

ALTER TABLE user DROP receivebulletin;
That one failed because you already deleted that table.

Try the following two separately. If you get an error like you did above, basically saying the table doesn't exist, don't worry about it - that's just telling you there's nothing to delete.

Code:

ALTER TABLE user DROP INDEX receivebulletin;
Code:

ALTER TABLE user DROP receivebulletin_type;
When all of those are removed, then you can reinstall the add-on.

Oh, and if you are using a table prefix, that needs to be prepended to the SQL statement:

Code:

ALTER TABLE {TABLE-PREFIX}user DROP receivebulletin;
ALTER TABLE {TABLE-PREFIX}user DROP INDEX receivebulletin;
ALTER TABLE {TABLE-PREFIX}user DROP receivebulletin_type;

ReplaceE {TABLE-PREFIX} with your actual prefix.

Hi,

Thanks for this great mod very useful.

I have installed it on vB 4.0.5 boad and send my first community newsletter to the admins for test. We received it. Then I sent it to all my members but unfortunately nobody received it.

I didn't changed any other options exepted the selection of usergroups.
Does somebody have had the same problem and can help me please ?

Thanks in advance

Cordially
