I understand that, however for those seeking work here who aren't in the know, so to speak, they are "fresh meat" for those who would take advantage of them without some sort of rating system...or directory where feedback can be left. Which is what led me to my first response to Marco. It just seems that there are many things that could be done here that aren't, this being one of them...still can't figure out why as much was promised long ago yet it's all still undelivered.

What do you expect them to do? Jelsoft is providing a peice of software, and vB.org is providing a coding/product community. There is nothing more to it. There's no way you can expect more than that, you can ask, request, whatever, but in the end business is business and they are only providing that. They can't hold your hand through picking a coder, and such. Why should they? Especially when it's something they don't support.

Of course the newbies will get duped, but trust me, they will learn fast... It's unfortunate they have to learn that at all, and until someone is ready to do something about it (from a legal perspective) then nothing will get done, whether vb.org implement anything more or not because every one you rid there are thousands more around the corner waiting to rip the next person off. It's just the way it is. People are in it for the buck, and those with lower moral standards are willing to sacrifice a little to get an easy buck.

It sucks, but it's reality.

I expect them to go to some lengths to protect their customers. This is, afterall, an official vbulletin site. It's like the owner of a bar saying they are not responsible if someone gets drunk in their establishment and drives off and kills someone (not the best analogy, but you get my drift). The org is presenting the opportunity for fraud to occur via their site and it's poor business on vbulletin's part to not take that seriously. (and they may for all I know, but you can never tell around here due to the lack of official response)

Yes, you are right - very bad analogy. I do not condone blaming the bartender for some idiot to get drunk and go driving on his own will. The drunk doesn't need a babysitter, and neither does anyone else. The drunk made a bad decision, and now they got to deal with it. Either they learned, or they go out and do it again. This is the way most people with common sense act.

It is common sense, and not hard to protect your own assets and I don't need, nor really want vBulletin to babysit me, and most customers would feel the same way. I purchased a product, and support for that base product, nothing more. If you are going out of your way to get coders to hack up something that vB makes very clear that it does not support, then why should they be in any way responsible?

First off, even though it's off topic, it is very much a punishable crime in most of the US if an establishment gets a person drunk then sends them on their way and they hurt someone...prosecutions occur all the time for that.

Secondly, I doubt very seriously most customers would take your position after having been the victim of fraud from a connection made via this site. Stating they are not responsible may or may not let them off the hook legally. My point is that it is good business to fix problems when there are simple things that can be done that would make a big difference...I know you can't argue with that ;)

i just don't agree with that part. I don't think anyone has to lose money to learn. In any business, you are as good as how you treat your new customers. Businesses don't survive on old customers and if they feel happy with what they got. I work for a big organization in electronics and in any business trust is a major consideration. I trusted the people here when i came and thats why i fell for it(And sorry i did actually do a search on this guy. There wasn't a negative rating against him(actually no feedback), he was a pretty old member, and he was a member on some other vbulletin sites as staff(infernotech). Its not that i knowingly gave my money to someone who had a bad rep. Unfortunately, no i realize that even that is not a good criteria to select people here. Some normal people might be pretty good and some so called good coders might not be very good at all(only that there is no way to find who is who unless you hang around here for 6 months+.
