That's my impression as well. Very strange. Anyway, thanks for taking a look at it. I'll keep an eye on this thread going forward in case you or someone else figures it out.

I know there's been quite a bit of interest from folks about being able to embed tweets, maybe it will be something we can do natively in vB5.

It's working fine as a BBCode if you refresh the page...

So it does (with your replacement code as above -- for those who follow this thread after the fact). Not as 'slick' as being able to take straight URLs, but does the trick.

Do you know if the oEmbed response will get cached through vB that way? Don't want this to be calling for results to the same request on every load.

Thanks for that update!

--edit--
Oddly, for me, the tweet renders properly within the BB Code Manager page in the admincp, but shows up blank in posts (even after a refresh). I wonder if that redirect bit "/redirect-to/?redirect=" of vbSEO is somehow getting in the way. Doesn't seem like it should, and why in posts but not the admincp (I ask, rhetorically). Can't wait to be free of that (vbSEO) disaster.

It's not going to be cached in a BB Code.

All I know is it works for me in my forum (no VBSEO though.)

This is the replacement I'm using:

Code:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>&nbsp;</p>&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/twitterapi/status/{param}">&nbsp;</a></blockquote>
<script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Yep, thanks. I used the same. I'm all but sure it's that vbSEO feature that's getting in the way of this method. Worst decision I ever made for my site, that mod, and getting rid of it is a gigantic headache.

Thanks again for all your help with this. I know how to make it work (and now others do too by way of your insight and testing), and it's much appreciated.

I can't get the second link to play any video... Maybe I will try again later.

The first site isn't ideal for linking via AME. I have attached a definition that works for this video but it may fail if the story title has numbers in it. Could't find any way around that.

Also understand if you use this if anyone tries to link to that site to a news story without a video (assuming they have any) it will also break.

Really i would avoid using AME unless linking to actual video sites (youtube, vimeo, and the like.)

Not reading everything. Can this be used for 4.2?

BirdofPrey5

Thank you for the help with these. I didn't notice the first link (nola) opens a popup.
The second link is working but thanks for pointing out the distinction between the types of links working.

I'll continue to test. THANKS!
