Can anyone see that smilies are not working in the shoutbox at the bottom of this page?

I don't even see a shout box :tired:

Parture 10-18-2005 02:07 AM

I just removed it about 30 seconds ago.

Rat1972 10-18-2005 08:34 AM

How can i chance the refresh time? I want to refresh it in 120 seconds, now it refreshes to fast. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Thank you

Parture 10-18-2005 11:18 AM

I reposted my forum and added back vbshout to show you the smilies are not working http://biblocality.com/forums

Is anyone working on this to fix it?

Also when you look in "Current Active Users" those who are viewing the main forum index page changes to Viewing Shoutbox. That's not quite right.

this hack S high load server

StyleZ cZ 10-19-2005 12:36 AM

I had it, but uninstalled it after a half day. Posts don't show after clicking submit in safari, you have to manually refresh screen. If things get sorted out I may reinstall.

Parture 10-19-2005 12:56 AM

What does hack S high load server mean?

SacredCow 10-19-2005 03:53 AM

Any chance with making something like this work with the drupal plug in? I'd cream in my pants if that happened cause I can't figure out how to make it work.

sickboy6ths 10-20-2005 03:06 PM

Really good shoutbox, use it on all my pages :)

Now I have one little smally problem :( All my users showup as:
Viewing The Shoutbox
Shoutbox

Is there any way to fix/circumvate this? Because now I can not see what ppl are browsing :)

Thanks in advance! Marvelous product!

think youll find its a safari issue, and as such, cant see much support for it to be solved..

IE is the browser this works perfectly with...not safari, not firebobbins, or any other...lol

aranthorn 10-20-2005 07:25 PM

FYI:
If you collapse then expand the shoutbox, it resizes and eliminates the column width issue reported earlier. I'm having a look at the template to see if I can tweak it to eliminate that.

Excellent work, ZT. Easy install, works great.

sickboy6ths 10-21-2005 01:26 PM

got major performance hits on the server when the shoutbox is on, when I remove it/turn it off the performance problems go away.

I read more people experiencing this, anybody has any clue how to fix it? Thanks!

SVZ 10-21-2005 06:14 PM

this eats up bandwiht like a mofo hehe

aranthorn 10-22-2005 02:36 AM

Well, I'm not sure what happened, but it was fine for a couple weeks, then BOOM! it stopped working. "Loading..." will sit there or shouts don't appear, etc. Had to disable the product :(

SVZ 10-22-2005 05:47 AM

Is there a way to put it on a page that's not the forum index? I love the mod...it just eats up bandwidth when guests, etc view it :(

Disable it for guests, Users Awaiting Email Confimation, etc. That way only a small percentage of whoever's viewing the site is affecting your bandwidth.

What do you think about this guys?

P.S.: This picture was Photoshop-ed.

that looks cool mate ... Id like to see that right stuff collapsable on its own - so we can chose to minimise that stuff outt he way to make more room for the shouts.

How would I do that?

Swindont 10-22-2005 05:57 PM

how would i do a /ban (username)
command? that would really help which only admins could use :D

I too have done this for my site ... go to your 'usergroups' - 'usergroups manager' in your admincp .... then make a note of the group numbers you dont want to view the shoutbox...

ie - unregistered/not logged in - id:1

then go to your vbshout settings in 'vbulletin options' - 'vbshout options' and in the sections called 'Banned Usergroups' add the id of the groups you wanna ban from the boards. ie - 1

if you have numerous groups you dont want to use the shoutbox put there all these numbers in separated with a comma... ie - 1,4,7 then Id suggest you change the next option 'Banned Permissions' to 'can not view shoutbox'.

moethelawn 10-23-2005 11:41 PM

I think we need to get ZT's attention if we want some changes done ;)

GoTTi 10-24-2005 08:01 AM

I installed this and on forums home i get:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare isbanned() (previously declared in /home/SITE/public_html/forums/index.php(459) : eval()'d code:112) in /home/SITE/public_html/forums/index.php(459) : eval()'d code on line 263

when i uninstall this thing i get:

Database error in vBulletin 3.5.0:

Invalid SQL:
drop table `shout`;

MySQL Error : Unknown table 'shout'
Error Number : 1051

whats goin on here????????

i had to go into phpmyadmin and go into settings, remove shout_ and remove shout from products and shout table. why am i having such a difficult time with these hacks for 350?

Rukas 10-25-2005 09:28 AM

My users are reporting that recently, in the last few days, they are being forced to refresh after each shout they make. While this doesnt effect all users (nor me) it is a problem. They are using Firefox and IE, and it used to work fine for them and all of a sudden they all began to experiance the same problem.

It works fine for me in Firefox, so its not a browser related issue.

To fix the smilies, go to your vBulletin options -> User Profile Options and choose yes for Allow Smilies in Signatures, now you have smilies ;)

This is such a good hack!!!

Is it possible to keep a history of all shouts?

If not, would that be possible in a future version? ;-)

It already keeps it and you can see it by reading the Feature list.

How do you get to the Archive / statistics page?

I can't find it anywhere, and vbshout.php just displays the contents of the shoutbox.

Thanks.

thedvs 10-26-2005 11:06 AM

Oops I had hacked up the template html before I even had a chance to notice that. Thanks ;-)

The link is
Code:

<a href='vbshout.php?{$session['sessionurl_q']}do=archive'>Shoutbox</a>
For anyone else looking for it.

Swindont 10-27-2005 03:56 PM

DJ XtAzY 10-27-2005 11:40 PM

nice hack... but it cause me high server usage

SeNdEr2000 10-28-2005 02:10 AM

it works great, one question, how can i edit the languague of the shoutbox?, i mean, i would like to change the text button, for example "Shout" for "Enviar", and so on...can you help me?

Devii 10-29-2005 01:02 PM

I do think the vbshout still causes graphical page display errors in firefox, not just on resize but sometimes on page load, the page is longer horizonatally than it should be, only thing I can track it down to is this shout box.
