Is there a way to make the RPG Stats more compact in postbit template? I tried doing it myself but it never worked. It would be awesome if the RPG information could scroll along the sceen just like the Arcade marquee but maybe at a slow speed.

You can install the User Select Postbit addon, which generates a dropdown for the rpg stats (users can choose their own postbit type).

I take it your supposed to see animation with this then? If so, I don't see any.

Also, i've added a new skin to my forum and the battle arena and a few other RPG pages go a little crazy: http://www.burnleyweb.com/forum/batt...battlenumber=4

Any way around this? I don't want to have users swop skins, plus I would need to install other mods to the templates for the default skin which would take forever!

Hi Revan! I signed up at Digital Toxicity and noticed in PM's, you took out the RPG info under the user profile. I'd like to know how ya did that because the red X that the $rpgclass3 is creating in the PM messages, is driving me crazy. It calls for this path "forums/images/style/classes/.gif"

No, no animation. A dropdown. :lick:
And set your styles up as child/parent styles, so they inherit the rpg templates.
OR, reapply the templates file to the new skin.

I didnt take it out, I didnt put it in!
For some reason, PMs use the postbit template, but since theres no rpg code in private.php, broken ++++ galore ;)
I plan on fixing this sometime

I have a quick question. I've added hundreds of new items, spells summons etc. Using a lot of ripped sprites from old RPGS. Anyway I've been making my own weaps, but they are way cooler than the rest. Here's a few examples:

Also, how hard would it be so that when a player reaches a certain level, the class picture changes? I attached an image to explain my question better.

In the pic, the 1st post has a Character that has leveled up and become powerful, the second post, that person has a weak character.

Im not sure I understand what you mean... if you want items to not be spread too quickly, put a low stock...
If thats not what you meant, then please explain :)

class level up would require me to redesign the entire class system, and I dont have time to do this atm.

Well, I already have plenty of quailty Items with either 0 or 1 stock option. I was wondering if you could have some items that would only appear in the item shop every so often. Like a %, Say 1 out of 10 times when you enter the shop a special item will be there. Or like if you've won a certain amount of battles, Unique items will open up for users in the item shop.

I suppose I'm looking for more ways to let end user have a more customized, unique character. I'm sure what I'm asking would cause you to make radical time consuming changes to the code. Stuff like that is easier said then done. ;)

i like the hack but the weapons/items etc.. can be a pain. Is there a recommended % for how much money should be earned and how much a item should be depending on its stat increasing?

not sure if this has been asked before but,

back in the vb2 version when u went to the rpgcp it had a little town pic with the little pics of the characters that were online at the time. Mine doesnt do that, is it just me, or is that something u had to leave out??

Nah as you have to determine this for yourself, based on what sort of forum you want to have.
For isntance, forum of power users should have easier to gain stats and cheap weapons, and reverse, forums of few power users should have harder stat gains and more expensive weapons.

It was not in the template I converted, but it will most likely be coming back for v3

Another idea for v3!

Towns (Controlled in Admincp) - Different towns have different monsters / shops in them :D
Ability to buy a town
Enchantable weapons (Say, you need to find an item (by either random chance or monster killings) - then use the item to enchant (add stats / abilitys) to the weapons
Special hunting areas (to find monsters in)
Different monsters controlled through admincp (e.g chance of monster appearing in certain area)
Drop files controlled by admincp (specify whether a monster drops a certain item and how often (e.g 1/5 of the kills))

Question...

Is "Reset Users Stats" supposed to also reset the users' money-on-hand?? (not in the bank??)

Because apparently, I ran that script, and it just pretty much swallowed everyone's money-on-hand and is now making me suffer listening to everyone yell at me for stealing...

Yes it is supposed to reset money too, as it is a vital part of the rpg. I believe some people wanted it to reset money, and so it does :)

OKay, I'm gonna sound like a giant nerd by asking this, but that's okay ;)

I'm trying to set up a Star Wars based RPG. The only problem is the sprites are based on gender, and not race. This makes it a little funky when someone has their race set as a Wookie, and their class set as a Rebel Soldier -- Because then their sprite is a human.

Is there a way to either add genders and just use it as races, or to have the sprites operate off of the races instead? I'm a little stumped.

I looked all over this thread for an answer to this but I couldnt find it...so Ill ask it myself :|

Im having a problem where for a few users the PP stays at 0/0, limit stays at 3%, and experience has never moved...this only happens for some users (including myself who is main admin), not all. Soo does anyone know why this is happening or how I could fix it? Take a look at the screen...

it was doing that to me 2, go in ur usercp to the rpg stats and go all the way down to update stats, and it should fix it.

You have to update the Battle Type of the weapon category in Edit Items.
If you setup a new Class Type, you have to set what weapons can be used by this type.

updating stats will change the rpg nick, etc. but doesnt fix the stats problem Im having (stuck n 0/0 PP, 3% limit, and no xp).

I think I recall having this exact same problem on the RPG for vb2..which seem really weird but it was happening there also with exact same 3% limit, 0/0PP, etc. Ive tried reseting the RPG (all options) but its still the same users who get the problem..Any help would be much appreciated :D

i'm having a problem with the feature allowing users to have their own itemshops, it doesn't seem to exist :confused:

in the rpg manual for users it says they can have their own shops by clicking a link at the bottom of the itemshop page, but there is no link.

in the admin rpg manual it says:

i also opened up itemadmin.php in notepad and found the option isn't there at all.

anyone else got this problem?

Im running the RPG as well now. After fixing some of the templates, it runs very smooth now. Great job!

Theres one thing I can't figure out though. How can people actually use spells, weapons and potions? The shop is integrated and all, but that part doesn't work. Right now I only have a bunch of monks slapping each other on my forum.

It would be great if someone could point me to the direction.

@SB2002, there's no problem with the Itemshop, I've tested and I can buy any items I want while my class is generic and that item is for generic class.

But well the itemshop is messy, Revan. I asked you to let users have many items in their inventories, it meant: you can buy 10 swords in the weapon shop, 5 armors in the armor shop, 4 accessories and 13 potions in different kind from the Potions Shop, 7 spells from the spell shop but can only equip 1 weapon/1 armor/2 accessories/4 potions/3 spells at a time, and the total items you can buy is 30.

well that way everything would be very easy and comfortable for users. We don't need something like: If you want to let user has 2 weapon, create 2 weapon shop hence if I wish to let them own 10 swords I will have to forget everything to sit there and create items for the shops. But actually with this items system, If I create 10 weapon shops it means everyone will be able to have 10 weapons in battle.

Actually when i first started making RPG Hacks, they were based on mine and members idea's. Since i first started making them for proboards, meaning they ran off JS. Once i had learnt php i turned those versions available for IPB while adding more functionality, then when i got vB i re-made inferno for that. I never knew anything about a Bitsy or his/her RPG hack, because i was no where to be found near vB forums at the time.

You have to update the Battle Type of each category in the Edit Items section :)

I went to Digital Toxicity to see if I could answer my question by viewing your RPG system, but was getting internal errors everywhere. Any who ..

I set up my RPG system to have lots of Catagories. I have Armor, Shields, Gloves, Helmets, Spells, Weapons etc and many more.

There seems to be a big problem when people buy one of each armor types. While testing, the most powerful weapon couldn't do any damage to someone with 5 armor types. I'm guessing all the armor buffs add up with each other?

Now when you get 2 people with a lot of armor, weaps dont have any effect. The only time damage is done is when the limit reaches 100%.

What would you suggest I do? Up the weapon buffs ..which would be bad with those with no armor. Or should I put all armor in the same cat so they can only buy 1 armor type item. Or should I lower/raise rAtk rDef mAtk mDef in the class and race settings. Or do I need to start over and scratch my current system? I have over 1000 items mind you ... ;)

wth that has gotta be the biggest itemshop ever! ;)
Well. I do not suggest having too many weapon categories, because the defence buff is indeed cumulated into the final buff.
Possible suggestions:
* Raise the weapon buff, and lower the price of armor
* Make a new category with "+Atk +Def" items, with either dirt cheap items, or with huge buff values (or a healthy mix ;))
* Remove some categories like "Rings", "Tiaras", "Underwear" and "Codpieces" :p ;)

Second, Ive started working abit on v3 again, mainly tweaking queries and adding small features. No eta yet, but as I have feature locked it, it should be considerably less than if I had to do all the stuff I was planning to do.

Yeah, I did go a little over board adding items ..but you made this thing so much darn fun!! I guess it will be just trial and error to see if I can balance the system out.

Yup trial and error. Beware of making weapons dealing too little damage, because on my forum I have this problem. We are starting to afford Cure's, and we got 1500 HP and deal 60 damage with swords. D'oh :p
Hence why Im making Weapons Skills, costing PP to use and deals increased damage with base value in the original weapon buff ;)

And about the paypal, no havnt got one yet. But its only 27 days till Im old enough to get a CC, so if I find a bank without a yearly fee, Ill get one then :)

I have been wanting to install this fantastic hack for a while now. I have finally got around to doing it but noticed in the req_limitations.txt file that I MUST have uCash and uShop installed. Does that mean that without uCash and uShop installed this hack wont work and generate heaps of errors as decribed in the file?

I don't quite understand sorry! :(
