Jaxel, would your mod work with the mod Downloads II? Wondering if I use it conjunction with your mod my members can upload their own video, and add the link into your mod to have it show up in the media section.

Yes, this is definitely possible, as long as you change the thumbnail directory setting from "customVID" to "downloads", and then copy your "customVID/thumbs" directory to "download/thumbs". In fact, its situation's like this that I purposely programed the thumbnail directory setting for. I knew someone would have some reason to change the directory of their thumbs, and now you've found it.

Juggernaut 05-10-2010 11:06 PM

Can't wait for BBCodes :D

COL NIL SATIS 05-10-2010 11:37 PM

Veer 05-10-2010 11:56 PM

Jaxel, please expand google sitemap feature in future versions with support to generate all media information including all videos, categories etc, Not only LOCAL audio and video files. Is there any way to integrate media library in default vb XML Sitemap Manager?

Well, I'm offering my members a place for them to upload their own vids. There will be a size limit of course. It would be too much to ask members to start a youtube account and upload their vids there, then link to them in my site. I'm sure I'll burn through some BW this way but that's the feature they want... and will pay for.

Excellent, I'll give that a shot. If it works, I'm assuming this will dis-allow the YouTubes and such for the media page. It sounds like it's one or the other, is that correct? By the way it's perfectly fine with me if it is. Since I have the custom bb code for youtube they can use in the threads that should be enough.

================================================== =========
Version 4.0.8 SUBSCRIPTIONS AND SITEMAP
================================================== =========
UPGRADERS:
  • This version has changed the way the media bits are constructed. If you install this version and suddenly notice you are getting an error when browsing the media library, just go into your admin CP and reselect your media bit style.
  • The sitemap has been expanded to support ALL videos in your media library. Because of this, a new directory was created in /customVID/sitemap; please make sure this directory is CHMOD 777 in order to use the sitemap.
  • Also remember to update your .htaccess file, and check the new entries in the known bugs section for permission changes for those using VSA mods.
  • NEW FEATURE: Users can now sort media by rating, favorites, comments, views and dateline.
  • NEW FEATURE: Users can now subscribe to media, they will recieve a PM when a comment is posted.
  • NEW FEATURE: A BBCode called [media] has now been implemented for posting from the library.
  • NEW FEATURE: A Scheduled Task has been added to build your sitemap. (disabled by default)
  • BUG FIX: Ampersands will now get replaced in strings properly for services such as MySpace.

Delilahs 05-11-2010 03:28 PM

Jaxel, how do we enable the sitemap task?

Jaxel 05-11-2010 03:32 PM

Turn it on in Scheduled Task Manager

I got an error message only when I finished the upload but then I went back into the Options and had to re-set the selections there. My issue was the 'tiny bits'.

Quick question~

Is my Admin account supposed to be subscribed to every video after the upgrade?

Its set up so that you automatically get subscribed to any video YOU uploaded. You can easily unsubscribe from multiple videos on the subscriptions page.

Your entire website doesn't work for me, returns a blank white page.

Jaxel 05-11-2010 05:02 PM

Just uploaded a new version that has a small fix to the sitemap generation...

Delilahs 05-11-2010 05:02 PM

when I do a search on the forum with 'media' enabled, it doesn't work and comes up with an error, disable 'media' and it works no problem

This mod offers rudimentary support for the hosting of local media. An administrator can upload a media to the /customVID/ (default) directory; then add the media to the library using the URL code of "localvideo:filename" or "localaudio:filename". Media hosted locally will be displayed using JWPlayer, but will not provide meta data, so that kind of information will need to be entered manually.

Delilahs 05-11-2010 09:18 PM

I removed all files from the install and re-uploaded as a complete new install.

When I enable the 'Media plaug in' it knocks my CMS page off. so of the two I'd rather have my cms working, any ideas what's going wrong Jaxel?

Try disabling your Media CMS Widget, then re-enable the Media Library.

Delilahs 05-11-2010 09:29 PM

tried that and it doesn't work still
