Can you tell me how you got it working? because I downloaded in that thread the YAFB 3.3.2 Installation.zip attached archive, and into it i found two xml import files. Then I imported the "product-yafb" file, but it seems to be developed for vb4.0.x

Mr.Paint

1) Is there a way to also "auto-disconnect" from facebook when you log out from you vbulletin session?

2) Also, is there a way NOT TO REDIRECT users to their fbb profile page right after registration?

Kolektor 09-07-2010 01:19 PM

Follow the step by step and IT WILL WORK.

bada_bing 09-20-2010 01:48 AM

Does anyone know that code to use so that I can place the "connect with facebook" image on my portal. I use vbportal and the plugin install did not add this to my portal but only my vb pages.

Hiya
Bit of a strange issue when I try to send a notification, I get the message:

Found 6 Connected Users. Ready to send notifications...
FYI: We got 1 pack(s) to send. Each pack contain maximum 40 user
Sending pack #0 (6 user(s)): 690628407, 528572223, 614667654, 1006181213, 1114565987, 691890407 - FAILED

Question 1
Ok i tried this a few months ago and got no response so i will try again. When new users sign up their date of birth defaults to Jan 1 1970. Why does this happen. I have seen on other sites it asks for date of birth.. help me figure this out please.

Question2

If i upgrade to VB4.0 how will i migrate the users from this hack to the built in Facebook connect from VB4.0?

Akyeame Kwame 01-26-2011 03:58 PM

I get the following error
Code:

The specified Facebook Profile haven't granted the Offline Access permission. Please log in as XXXXXXXXXX and grant that permission in the Options page
However, when i view the member it says that the member in question (me) has granted Offline Access permission. I also need to know how to enable publishing of streams to my fan page. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the site: www.maczuki.com

On the vba homepage new to replies and video I would like to add the share link. Can this be done?

Can someone give me the code that gets placed in the navbar to connect through facebook? Or a code to put on the registration page? Thanks. :) I'm using a heavily customized style and it doesn't add anything to the navigation for the FB Connect......

I think all you need to do is provide a link with the image file to http://www.your.domain.com/facebook.php

DarkGizmo 02-14-2011 04:19 AM

Thanks.

I have 1 other problem, when a user registers with the facebook bridge, it sets their birthdate to January 1st, 1970 by default, instead of pulling their birthday info from facebook, or leaving it blank so they can edit it themselves later, any way of fixing this? I require birthdate on registration so users, unfortunately can't edit it after they've completed registration, so is there any way to fix this for the facebook bridge?

Works fine on a Windows Server

Mostjolly 02-27-2011 04:31 AM

excellent mod mr.paint, but for some reason.. everytime I try connecting to facebook on IE 7+8.. the mini pop-up login box keeps refreshing and never give you the chance to type in your password..

ALL other browser works flawlessly.. so cheer on that :]

cionfs 04-28-2011 09:16 AM

I have this problem. If I click on "connect with facebook" i see

asking 05-21-2011 06:20 AM

i just receive an email from facebook
Code:

Dear Developer of SymbianPinoy? Resources,

Our automated systems have detected that you may be inadvertently allowing authentication data to be passed to 3rd parties. Allowing user ids and access tokens to be passed to 3rd parties, even inadvertently, could allow these 3rd parties to access the data the user made available to your site. This violates our policies and undermines user trust in your site and Facebook Platform.

In every case that we have examined, this information is passed via the HTTP Referer Header by the user's browser. This can happen when using our legacy authentication system and including <iframe>, <img> or <script> content from 3rd parties in the page that receives authentication data from Facebook. Our legacy mechanism passes authentication information in the URL query string which, if handled incorrectly, can be passed to 3rd parties by the browser. Our current OAuth 2.0 authentication system, released over a year ago, passes this information in the URL fragment, which is not passed to 3rd parties by the browser.

Please ensure that you are not allowing this data to be passed immediately. Accessing your site as a test user while running a HTTP proxy/monitor like Charles or Fiddler is the best way to determine if you are allowing this information to be passed. If you discover the issue, you can do one of two things:

1. Migrate your site to use our OAuth 2.0 authentication system. We are requiring all apps and sites to update to this mechanism by Sept. 1, 2011. Migrating now will address this issue and ensure that you are one of the first to meet the deadline. For more details, please see our Authentication Guide.

2. Create and use an interstitial page to remove the authentication data before redirecting to your page with 3rd party content. This approach is used by many of our largest developers today (although they are all migrating to OAuth 2.0 shortly). This is a simple and straightforwardchange that should have minimal impact on your site. For more details on this approach, see our Legacy Connect Auth doc.

Because of the importance of ensuring user trust and privacy, we are asking you to complete one of the above steps in the next 48 hours. If you fail to do so, your site may be subject to one of the enforcement actions outlined in our policies.

If you have any questions or believe you have received this message in error, please contact us.
Facebook Developer Relations

Please help us on this? What we need to do?

Got the same one - went back to fbconnect but had issues with it as well.

Forumi Shqiptar 07-05-2011 02:07 AM

anyone has got this working on version 3.8.4 as i cant make it work it says i need to connect to facebook or smth like that and it doesnt pull my information from fcb.

mrpaint 09-30-2011 08:16 PM

Hi everyone, this add-on has been updated to work with Facebook OAuth 2.0. Please update your installation if you are using it (you probably received an email about this from Facebook).

haytham 09-30-2011 08:33 PM

I am installing this and I hope it works. I will post once I am done. Thank you for your efforts.

haytham 09-30-2011 09:40 PM

I installed everything like in installation file. I got my key and secret. I logged out of my forum then clicked "connect with facebook". I was asked to agree to the app requiring permission to my info. on FB. I agreed. Then was taken back to my forum and saw this:
=======
In order to be able to post messages on the forums, you must first register.
Please enter your desired user name, your email address and other required details in the form below.
========
So does this mean it's not working yet? Or is this normal? If it's normal and I have to register still on the forum, then what's the use of connecting with face book then?

The form is there to let you choose a username. The email and password fields are all optional (the form states that clearly at the top).

haytham 09-30-2011 10:58 PM

Ok. So I tried my name but it said name already in use. Then I tried a different name and left the "optional" stuff out, I got this message:

The email address you entered is already in use. If you have forgotten your password, please click here

and I left the email field blank so how is it that the email is already in use??
I don't get this..

If you let the email empty, it will use your Facebook email.
Anyway, as you already have an account, you should associate it instead of registering. Go to profile.php?do=fbb then associate your account. You will find the link in the left sidebar in UserCP too.

haytham 09-30-2011 11:31 PM

I will do that tomorrow. It's 4.30 AM here :) But I think it's working ok. Just need to do some tweaking (on my part not yours) your mod installed easily and nicely. Missing the share with facebook button though. It should be here:

<img src="images/impact/buttons/share_facebook.gif" alt="Share with Facebook" title="Share with Facebook" border="0">

The package contains the button but for default style only. You will need to manually copy that to your style buttons folder. The default one is images/buttons/share_facebook.gif. Glad it works for you. Cheers :D

Hi..so where do I do this association? I went to face book and couldn't find it. In account settings there is "linked accounts" is that what you mean? Can u help in more details please?

When using this mod, and after I accept the app's permissions on face book, I get back to my forum, it won't let me connect with my face book name. I have to use any other name and email but once I am in and want to share a post, it is shared in my original face book name..I am kind of confused.

haytham 10-01-2011 06:35 AM

Sorry..got it..and works perfectly..I had to do this on my forum. So far so good. :)

viper357 10-01-2011 06:54 AM

Hi, I am on 3.8.5 and when I log out of the forum and then click on the Connect With Facebook button all it does is take me to the forums page. It doesn't open any type of registration page.

haytham 10-01-2011 09:01 AM

One thing I have noticed so far..if I am connected with face book, why isn't my face book profile pic showing inside the forum? Is there a solution for this that you know of?

Because YAFB does't synchronize avatars

Yes I did have a previous version of your mod installed, but uninstalled it a while ago, I have just reinstalled it today.

The link on the button goes to your facebook.php file.

busybeeburns 10-01-2011 09:44 AM

This is a fantastic mod that opens up a host of opportunities for vBulletin communities, however after brutally testing it over the last 24 hours, I have major issues with its neat compatibility with vBulletin. If anyone can help or discuss these I'd be grateful. These are:

1) Changes to Facebook or vBulletin in the future may render this mod incompatible, relying then on support from the developer to bring this mod back in line; if hundreds of administrators are relying on support from a sole developer who decides they are no longer bothered to upgrade for future facebook/vBulletin releases, this will have huge implications for incorrect login functions for potentially millions of registered members across the vBulletin communities.

2) Facebook holds registration details of members, eg. email addresses and passwords. If this mod was ever ditched, I could in theory have thousands of members unable to log in to my forum unless each account was manually altered in admincp. Registered members are unable to do this themselves as changes to email addys or passwords would not be possible as vBulletin would not recognise their original/old details. A logistical nightmare for administrators of large vB communities.

3) It appears that facebook Connect users cannot be contacted via mass email or mass PM add-ons as such users are not found within the database. This effectively renders the use of these important functions useless in the long-term. Especially important should the need arise above where they must take action to continue to log in to the messageboard.

4) I would like to see fblogin.php altered to accept Connect for exisiting vBulletin members only, or tweaked to go via a vB registration process where an vB email address and password can be added. The problems 1-3 above wouldn't exist if this was an alternative installation.

Apart from those important issues the mod is perfect!

What's exactly the url to the facebook.php file? Also, because you installed it before, probably you reused the Facebook app? If it's the case, you probably have authenticated your account before so Facebook will just redirect you back to vBulletin. And because you installed it before, probably the info is still in the database so YAFB logs you in. Is that the case? Important question: when you get back to forums, were you logged in or not?

1) Yeah, that's a valid point except for the fact that I updated this to keep it working with new Facebook policy.
2) You can register with a password or you can change password later.
3) What are you talking about? The email address is in vBulletin, you can mass email without any problem (but I don't recommend that). Also, you can mass PM just fine, have you tried it at all?
4) There is no fblogin.php in YAFB

Final words: what the hell are you talking about?

Just installed but have one issue.

When I go to UserCP and click Facebook Bridge options, there is nothing there but the save options button.
