Is there any way for me to upgrade my PHP from 4.4.9 to 5 so I can use this application?

I'll admit I don't know what PHP is. I'm new to all of this and trying to learn.

All I want to know is the fact that you can use this modification to NOT register, but only link your account to Facebook for Updates.

I may have missed something in the template changes, but as of now I've removed all the template changes, deleted the application on fbook and uninstalled it from my site.

I was just wondering if anyone else had those problems before I try again.

I don't know what it is but I tried it again and had the same problems.

For some reason, anytime I install this and try to post via the quick reply (I didn't test posting a thread or from a reply), I get the following message:
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters.

It doesn't matter how long the post is, it won't go through.

It's not anything with the product itself because I disabled it and it still wouldn't work. I rolled back the template changes and then it started working again.

Is there anything you can think of that would cause this problem? I'm sure it's my fault somewhere, but it's happened twice in two tries now.

You want to allow current users to connect, but prevent future users from connecting?

If reverting the template edits fixed the problem, then it's possible you deleted a single end bracket or something like that accidentally during the initial install.

I figure it's something simple, but would you have any idea of what I need to pay more attention to? It's odd to have it mess up twice and it be the exact same thing both times.

Well, all I want is that current users to connect via facebook for the updates only. I don't want them to register my forum through facebook. I want to have them register only through the forum. Hope that makes better sense :p

Any reason why? Just curious.

Not really, I thought it would be more simple. Plus if they used the facebook thing, would the previous members connect and I rather have usernames as nicknames instead of emails presuming I understand this correctly.

If the users are registering with FBConnect, they have to pick a forum screenname to continue. If users are just linking thier existing account with FBConnect, they still have to use their existing forum screename.

will this mod work for vbulletin version 3.6.8 aswell?

Oh, well, I am just going to install this gem if that is the truth.

This looks really cool, anyone got a working demo?

Jheyman 01-02-2009 12:29 PM

Great Product saved me a ton of time! Quick question, on users logging out of the forums the logout page (cookies cleared) does not have the FBConnect button under teh logon box. Any idea why this might be. I double checked the navbar template and the FB Code appears in both login areas of that template. If you want to see the behavior the URL is www.wdwnewstoday.com/forums

jlew24asu 01-02-2009 01:05 PM

has anyone added the connect with facebook link on their CMPS page??

Dean C 01-02-2009 01:29 PM

I'm getting the minimum number of character bugs too. It's something to do with the change needed to this in SHOWTHREAD, newreply and newthread

Code:

<form action="newreply.php?do=postreply&amp;t=$threadid" method="post" name="vbform" onsubmit="return qr_prepare_submit(this, $vboptions[postminchars]);" id="qrform">
Where qr_prepare_submit is replaced with fb_qr_prepare_submit

There's some kind of bug in that code :) Note i'm running 3.7

Since the latest version I have had the same on mine

jlew24asu 01-02-2009 02:06 PM

not a huge deal, but I am not getting notifications on Facebook when I reply to a subscribed thread.

tpearl5 01-02-2009 04:40 PM

My users (and me) are still reporting getting notifications for threads they've never subscribed or even posted in.

funny how I have the complete opposite problem :) but I guess I would rather have mine then yours. getting those notifications must be annoying :(

edit:
oops nevermind. I just got a notification for someone replying to a thread that I started, but I am not subscribed to, even though I have this selected as no in admin cp

New Own Thread Reply Notification
Send a Facebook notification to the user when there is a new reply to own thread?

Yes No

Yes: www.cogonline.net. The vBa support was added on a previous update.

TriMe 01-02-2009 08:13 PM

Mapping Feature Request: Can you please add one for their Facebook profile ID? I use this hack and it would be great to map it to the hacks required custom user profile field.

Great work and thanks!

I'm getting this error after editing the SHOWTREAD template edit:

Warning: preg_replace() [function.preg-replace]: Compilation failed: regular expression is too large at offset 42684 in [path]/includes/adminfunctions_templateedits.php on line 1064

All the threads aren't showing in my forum so I can use this addon until it's fixed. HELP!!

I'm using 3.7.4 and the TMS mod.

UPDATE: I reverted the TMS template and edited the original SHOWTHREAD template. Everything works. I guess the 2 mod's don't mix well together.

According to my Facebook notifications page, every time I post I seem to be sending notifications out to any of my Facebook friends who have registered on my board with this plugin.

Is this related to the "Post news-feeds to the user's wall on Facebook" setting? I've switched it off and it seems to have stopped happening. hmmm.

There are no special instructions, he just modified the core code to account for it.

I got the same thing, had to uninstall and roll back the templates, it's taken me an hour so far and members can't post because every reply is too short no matter what the length is.

I thought I was careful when changing the templates, but there were quite a few ... I'm not a big fan of template changes like that, don't think I'll be trying it again.

Update: I found this thread. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=259421

I am using a very heavily customized template, maybe a conflict???

SpArKs85 01-03-2009 08:39 AM

Any resolve on the looping https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/?

I have upgraded from 1.1.3 to 2.0.1

I have cleared the browser cache. Several times in sheer desperation...

Tried it in IE; loads with page errors. (yellow ! in left hand bottom corner).

Next day, sober. Problem still exists.

Reinstalled the xml file and re-did the template edits just to be sure....

Problem still exists.

Now this could be the butt of the problem, but I hope it isn't. I'm running vb 3.6.8.

fbconnect-1.1.3 worked fine with it as far as I could see.

Now it doesn't want to load that connect button...

EDIT: Error codes from IE:
Code:

No, I doubt it very much. I am using a stock newthread and newreply template and I still had the issue. Something in the JS has changed :)

verino 01-03-2009 11:53 AM

Hi sllik,

I followed your installation instructions, but on step 5 :

Step 5:

Go to FB Connect Options > News-Feed Templates and register default templates.

I got this error :

Quote:

Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in [path]/includes/facebook/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php on line 2487

Warning: fopen(http://api.facebook.com/restserver.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in [path]/includes/facebook/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php on line 2487
I decide to stop and not to go to template edit before this problem fixed.

Any idea ?

Thank's.

It appears that 2.0.1 is not compatible with 3.6.8. It uses 3.7 code to function....I guess it's time to upgrade...

Hmm, totally stock and it still came up, what's the cause of a few of us seeing this issue then I wonder?

fattony69 01-03-2009 02:40 PM

I think I got this to work. Do people who are already members get to use this?

sllik 01-03-2009 04:49 PM

v2.0.2 is out!

Login button will be displayed on all vb pages (including vbAdvanced)
