I doubt there is much you can do about it. For me it looks more like a bug in youtube. Why do you want to keep registered users from seeing embedded videos? Only the other way around makes sense - keeping unregistered users from viewing. |
I'll try and get you an updated definition set in my thread this weekend guys. I'm just going to be real busy for the next few days.
|
can you upload .mov files with this ?

Hi Geek,
This is an incredible modification and it deserves Mod of the month award. I know you've been slammed with so many requests, so I will add one more :) Have you considered to create a vBAdvanced module to display latest/most viewed/random videos from posts which are coming from AME modification codes. This thread has such a module and also explains how to create a module for latest videos inside a post, but its limited by only when you already have defined a custom BB Code for single source videos (youtube, metacafe etc..). and its not generalized as AME. http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19064&highlight=videos&page=2 AME goes further, because you don't need to enter your BB Codes. It has an universal BB Code [ame]. I tried to enter ame in above module settings but it wasn't working because URL were becoming in the form of http://www.youtube.com/v/www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_HAHiJjBls which clearly is not correct because url is displaying twice. Removing www.youtube.com from the template wasn't working too because it was then displaying all of the youtube page inside the specific frame size that you set in module options Long story short: I believe someone can make a module to display videos from AME and I appreciate if you can advise how to display them on vBAdvanced too. Thanks. Val. |
Hello,
please check this post: http://www.xbass.ro/forum/showpost.p...6&postcount=24 It has that video that does not want to work. If you click the link and go to youtube the video is playing, but then, the video says it's not available. Also I have a member who told me that none of his videos are loading, I told him that it's from him but he sais it's only not loadig on that website... even if it works fine with me on both IE & FireFox. Also I tried posting that video on a phpBB forum with a youtube addon and the video is working. Very strange. Ah, I had the 2.0.2 version, now I have put the RC version. Same problem. |
Quote:
Check it again in a couple hours, it may start working. |
I did. That problem I had was since the last week. I tried to post the link on a different forum, or so... same thing. It woudn't be a problem for me, but the client told me ... it's not working.
|
I think that problem cannot be solved.
Many Youtube music videos cannot be embedded. I assume it is either because of copyright issues or because embedding has been denied by the uploader. |

Google doesn't seem to work either. Maybe I'm not doing something right? It's just drop in the link right? They don't use the embed code itself right? FWIW YouTube works fine for members and myself. |
YouTube just did a massive overhaul, so they'll have to be looked at again once they've finished up with whatever it is they're doing. The other sites will have to be looked at again too. If your subscribed to the updates in my Add-On threads, then you know I will be looking at this over the course of the week and that I'm in the process of trying to get more organized.

Something is screwy on my install. When using YouTube I get this parsed in the forum. The text between the two images is linked to my domain.
|
The height of the Youtube video is very small.
Where can I adjust the height of the frame? |

So far my members seem very happy just to be able to add YouTube video. That's the one my board members will use most often anyway probably. :) |
Ok, I've read everything here I can think of, nothing has helped me.
I have a VB 3.7.2 I downloaded the 2.0.2 zip file. My forum does not have a "forums" folder it's just all in the root directory. First I'll state my problem then what I've done. I have no AME CP I uploaded the following In my root directory is VB I open VB and get the following folders: admincp archive clietnscript cpstyles customavatars customprofilepics images includes install modcp signaturepics First I went to admin cp In that folder I uploaded the following: automediaembed_admin Next I went to the Images folder and uploaded amazon_icon Next I went to Includes folder and uploaded the following: ame_bbcode and the cpnav_automediaembed xml document and the hook_automediaembed xml document Next I went to my admin panel and imported the product-ame xml document ALL of the above files are there as I've checked. I found the AME Settings but there is NO AME CP anywhere.. In the AME Settings I see the following... The maximum amount of characters to display in the title (note you can use the AME CP for this option) I can click on AME CP and something comes up.. but it's just the SETTINGS. There is no AME CP anywhere.. . What did I do wrong?? Help please. |
I sort of realized the double definitions on the way home from work. I disabled one and tada it worked! I am running v2.0.2 though. I didn't know that 2.5 was a stable release. Is it?

As for the forums folder, that's just in the event your forum root is located in a folder of that name. In that case, you could just grab that folder and overwrite it onto your existing forums folder. But as I said above, since you don't have that, you'd just grab the contents of that folder in one swoop and let it overwrite into your forum root directory. Quote:
Most comments I've heard is that it's running fine in a production environment, with only a couple of bugs in a couple of individual cases. |
Installed.
Thank you! |
Hi Guys,
Just installed your great mod (rc1) and have one small problem. I had previously been using passivevid and needed a replacement and unfortunately I can not seem to get all the old urls to automatically work for this hack. I assume because it has not added the [AME] tags to the urls. Passivevid does not add any tags to the urls so they're in their virgin state so hopefully am I just missing an option to scan old messages to change the youtube urls to [ame] tags or is there no such option? Thanks in advance. ps: I've tried the conversion and it says it finds nothing to convert!! |
Nice work, can you add the possibility to get this working in custom profile fields too?

Anyway to get this to work with the RSS feed poster?
|
Any chance to make this to add the HD quality version of You Tube videos if there is, if not it adds the normal version?

I'm getting an error (I've tried searchng this thread, but didn't see anything - but it's 50 pages long!):

Silly question, but why does this need to support Amazon?
From what I can see in the description and the code, it searches Amazon links for an ASIN (product ID), and then modifies the link to point to the Amazon product page. So doesn't it essentially just simplify the link to make it shorter? And what about if someone is deliberately linking to a specific Amazon URL, such as a list of the 3rd party sellers for the item. Will this replace that link with one pointing to the product page? The only real use I see for Amazon support is that you could modify the links to include your Amazon affiliate link, which could definitely come in handy :) |

And yes, it can be configured to include your Affiliate ID automatically. In my add-on thread we have a definition someone created that will convert them to this: Attachment 90674 Attachment 90676 Attachment 90677 I've also done the same for a CafePress definition as well as a formatted download link for zSHARE links. The point is, this is capable of formatting far more then just media. |
One of the things I liked about Goldbrick was it did the whole Highslide thing where the video or images lightbox.
Any plans on this feature? I do like that this mod seems to be well supported. Any up to date examples of this hack on any forum anywhere? |
I don't want to speak for The Geek too much, but I know it will be a while before he does anymore major updates to the modification. He usually does them so well they don't need too much support, other then tweaking the definitions. I'm curious how the lightbox would work with the unique things that AME can embed, which is sometimes just auto formated links.
I'm about to open my development subforum here in a few. I've been debating doing this but this should give you a good idea of what the mod can do. |

K I have an odd problem you can see it at http://www.clarifiedjudgement.com/showthread.php?t=23 (2nd post)
Basically the problem is that the top part with the title shows fine and the video shows fine but then it repeats itself except the title of the 2nd video is just all coding and the 2nd video is thumbnail size. Any idea what I did wrong if anything? |

DJ, nice forum you have. Ligthboxing seems to be a popular thing these days. Whether one types in a url to a video or image, Goldbrick usually rendered the photo or video as a thumbnail, then upon clicking git, it opened it up full size with the lightbox effect from the Highslide folks.
The problem with Golbrick is it is poorly supported and buggy. I can't blame him, it IS free, but I would rather pay and get support and updates than get something free. Most Golbricked videos also show a thumbnail image taken from the video which tends to make people want to click on it and view it, but half the time it just shows a lame blue M. I don't know what would happen to the existing video links if one switched from Goldbrick to AME.... |
awesome !!!
