I've just installed it fine on 3.7

however, it won't save me as administrator in the options to use admin commands. it allows me to check the option but won't save it.

alright, I searched this Thread Left Right and Center, and I can't believe I can't find our how to make this Mod show up on my homepage which uses CMPS.

I've attempted myself, and I am pretty Novice at this.......but I tried to "add module" in VBA, and I copied and pasted the code from the source of my Forum(which shows the shoutbox)


So after, I added this in my Center Column, but it screwed up my whole page because it made the width of the module too wide and the rest of my center modules were showing underneath the whole website. Also all my Right Columns were showing underneath the website.

Can someone please just tell us simple how to make this into a Module for CMPS, I know it's doable and someone has done it. Cmon just tell us!!! Thanks.

I'd like to know how to install this shoutbox on my vbadvanced links page. I have it the shoutbox code within my navbar. It works fine on every other page but the links page.

The shoutbox appears but stays on loading...

Anyone figure out the whole percentage sign (%) freezing the shout box problem? It's actually a problem across all the vBShout releases..that no one has cared to fix.

Just tested this on the latest pro version of the shoutbox and it's not an issue there. It's also not something i've come across in general. Does that happen on all the forums you've tried the box on, or just your own?

Happen on both of my forums so far. No matter what version of vBShout I use let it be the first one or newer ones when you type the % sign it freezes the box and you have to refresh the whole page. I appreciate you replying so early. This is huge issues on my forum especially it's automotive related and links are posted frequently and a lot of links contain the % sign in them. Thank you.

hmm, could you try posting on the inferno tech forums? Theres a lite support forum there and the volunteers who take care of it might be able to help you out :)

I believe it's a VPS due to the amount of space & amenities we have.

Hmm very strange, i know when we used a VPS we never had any problems, even when we were using a more server intensive version of the shoutbox.

A new version of the shoutbox pro using AOP to massivley reduce server load will be released in the next day or two, but i don't think we'll be making a new lite version any time soon unfortunately.

Occasionaly people do have issues with the shoutbox server load, but that's almost exclusivley on shared hosting.

If you throw me a PM on the itech site, i'll try to get you hooked up with a test copy of the new version, if it runs ok on your server you can purchase it, if not, you can delete it =)

I have just upgraded the shoutbox and first it was giving me database error then i unstalled it and installed it again now its not showing me the shouts...... whats wrong

I just moved to a new server that has PHP 5.2.5 and MySQL 4.1.22, so I upgraded my vBulletin to 3.6.9 and set it to use MySQLi instead of just MySQL.

Any ideas?

And I uninstalled it, reinstalled it (without reuploading the files) and it seems to work fine, except, like ranj, the shouts are not visible. Also, the "Options" page is... empty. 0_o

After upgrading this mesage in the shout (forum runs normaly but has some strange lay-out, fonts are different)

Any idea what this means?

Hey guys, sounds like two separate issues here - the first seems like it's being caused by the shoutbox being updated without being uninstalled first, the second sounds like it's being caused by missing files.

Can i ask you to completely remove the shoutbox from your server, then to try installing 2.5.0 from scratch and see if that works? If not could you head over to the support forums (a link is in the main mod post) So we can keep track of all the support in one place?

ovnnet - uninstall the shoutbox, remove the files from your server, then reupload and reinstall the new shoutbox. After this hit ctrl+f5 on your page to refresh the javascript. Also *points to the main post* You'll get support etc much easier if you *use the support forums*

Just an update :) The issue with the shouts not showing has been fixed, and the "Options" button which wasn't supposed to be there has also been removed. Simply after downloading, re-upload files and re-import the XML, and it'll work.

Had to uninstall. Can't shout, only shows "loading...", options button not working. Double checked settings and reuploaded, but no luck. I'm running 3.6.8pl2. Ran the upgrade. I'm back to 1.0.1.

Does anyone know how I might go about deleting the edit function of the shoutbox, but leave the delete function? I seem to have some staff members changing people shouts to random stuff.

I think that will be alot less confusing for members that aren't allowed to use the features :)

Theinsanemaniac, there isn't really an easy way to do this. but one of the features (low level logging) tracks edited shouts. Unfortunately the lite version doesn't show you *who* edited the shouts, but that is a feature which will be in the pro version by tomorrow for users such as yourself having issues like thise :)

Is it going to be tomorrow for sure? Can you put it in the lite version?

Actually whats the difference between the lite and the pro? Can you name them please?

Shoutbox has been fixed thanks to JayT/Proher giving us a hand by letting us debug the issue on his website :)

And InsaneManiac, there's a link in the main post which will show you what pro has, unfortunately we won't be adding the feature to lite. :)

Low level logging is in the Lite version, but the feature to see *Who* edited the post, won't be in lite
