Whoops didn't change anything with install.html. Just a sec.

Immortal 03-26-2006 10:02 PM

There we go, I believe those are the necessary templates, if not open a bug report :)

yayvb 03-26-2006 10:03 PM

Oh ok whoops :) I added the new .htaccess and overwrote the old product with the new, but I got this message on the very top of the site:
query: 4 - used to title member info
query: 5 - used to find last poster103,2,71,76,114,98,12,72,110,80,111,113,112, 118,97,20,81,116,121,92,90,107,5,6,7,85,9,65,127,1 15,69,68,70,67

I disabled for now, maybe that's because I didn't do something right since the install.html wasn't updated muahaha. If it's a bigger problem, I am sure you awesome people will have this fixed soon. I only wish I could offer more help but I am a lot more clueless. lol

Sorry I thought you were saying that YOUR forum was not the proper place for bugs. I see you want them there, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Bhuwan 03-26-2006 10:05 PM

There is a problem with newpost and lastpost, which I am trying to figure out as we speak :)

NiTRoN 03-26-2006 10:05 PM

How would modify .httaccess so the multiple themes changing works while in forum.. Let me explain.. It works correctly when I select theme before entering forums, but once the forums are entered and you want to change theme in there.. it doesn't work.. Any way to solve that?

Immortal 03-26-2006 10:08 PM

That would be a bug, file a bug at the bug tracker. This thread is not for bugs of any of the versions, or support for vRewrite 1.5.

Code:

phkk 03-27-2006 03:37 PM

I Have IIS and the mod is give me 404. Can some one give me the .htaccess sample for IIS ?

I am using window 2003 and Plesk with IIS . I think

Hi Immortal/Bhuwan,

Has testing been completed for this release??? i.e. 1.5?

I'm wondering whether I should place this on my test board, let me know mate if you need further testers or not.

Kind regards,

Hanif

Place on testboard if you can (or wait till RC2)

Danecookie 03-29-2006 12:23 PM

so. any more fixes? uptil now?

moftary 03-29-2006 07:28 PM

Is there anyway to migrate from DC-SEO-Rewrite to vRewrite (setting 302 redirects from old pages to new pages, etc..)? I am very interested in vRewrite but I dont want to lose my current searching engine traffic.

Thanks in advance,
Hossam

All you have to do is add the .htaccess details from DC-SEO to your own htaccess (with vRewrtie htaccess) and it should wor k fine.

That would cause duplication content penalty at google, however you inspired me the solution. To update DC-SEO .htaccess in a way so DC-SEO'ed pages are 302ed to vRewrite ones.

geeserteg 03-30-2006 11:02 AM

calling all SEO experts
Need help with Duplicate content issues
I need /name/f-hi-there-1-post50.html
to link to
/name/f-hi-there-page3-1.html#post50

Obviously this is considered duplicate content; if i use a 301 redirect, does this save me from a penalty?

Fixes all bugs. Of course if we don't know about bugs we cant fix them, so I suggest you install RC2 when we release itso we can hammer out all the bugs

So far only 1 person has really been helping with bugs! :-(

Avoid 301 as much as you can. Use 302 instead.
However what you mentioned cannot be considered a duplication content.

1) example on 302 (too lazy to google)
2) difference between 301 vs 302
3) why isnt what is iad duplicate
4) example of duplicate

thx for your help!( I am not a SEO expert )

Ex.
What it shows -- www.mysite.com/t-()-()-().html -- and that goes to page not found.

What it should show for it to work (I think) -- www.mysite.com/forum/f-()/t-()-()-().html -- and yes I have set the htaccess rewrite base to /forum

the newpost, lastpost issue is resolved
but how exactly are you "going to Subscribed"

geeserteg 03-30-2006 04:29 PM

Via quick links or in User Cp

Issue is completely resovled in RC2; beaware that the links sent via email will still be the old links (whicha re automatically redirected to the new links)

Immortal 03-30-2006 06:06 PM

In vRewrite 1.0, I had built a SEO-safe redirect function.

why can't we simply use Jelsoft's (vBulletin) already created function called 'exec_header_redirect' -- it contains 301 redirects.

Immortal 03-30-2006 06:15 PM

When dealing with these many redirects, we want to make sure it's 100% SEO compliment.

darkmage 03-30-2006 10:30 PM

I was wondering if it were possible to instead of having links like

f-forum-post-id.html to f-forum-post-id

ex: http://forums.ffantasy.com/forum-final-fantasy-etc.html to http://forums.ffantasy.com/forum-final-fantasy-etc/

So that the .html is not visable. Thanks.

The quickest way to add this is to edit the code and search for .html and replace it with nothing And then edit the .htaccess file

darkmage 03-31-2006 02:12 PM

So search the xml file and remove the .html ?

durapuma 03-31-2006 02:50 PM

durapuma

geeserteg 03-31-2006 03:50 PM

About 4 or 5 posts ahead of this I commented on a similar prob... Look back a few post. It sounds like most of these probs will be fixed with RC2. Coming soon!

durapuma 03-31-2006 04:13 PM

There is the same problem, but i have not found a solution for the problem, or I am to silly for reading?

Assuming you are running 1.0: this issue is resolved in RC1 and RC2 (out soon)

If you can be patient, i'll either:
a) add an option within the hack OR
b) add a 'how to' hack for this feature.
Until the bugs are worked out, i dont think this should be touched.
