Tim has done a good job for me in the past. He takes his time, I agree, but I have had no problems.

Feedback is the best way to go and if people could leave feedback regarding any member then posts like these would become a thing of the past.

Its the not knowing what going on that annoys me - the brush it under the carpet syndrome.

What i do not understand in this request is why you think people would use a new feedback system wisely, as they do not even use what is present already: A simple response to your own Service Request stating the name of the person who took he request and if you where satisfied with the result. If people would do that, researching someone would be a lot easier.

The point is to make researching feedback on potential business transactions more realistic for the customers of vbulletin here. Going through service request posts and trying to determine feedback on a particular individual is ridiculous, if not impossible, Marco. The org needs to either get it's act together on this or close down the service request forum...or vbulletin needs to set it up on their site and manage it properly. This "washing of hands" of these and many other issues that constantly goes on here is pathetic for a company the size of vbulletin. This is just another very good justification for the long promised and probably never to be delivered Commercial Providers Directory.

Oh, rubbish. It wouldn't be remotely difficult if service requesters gave feedback like Marco said. All you'd have to do is search the Service Requests forum for your potential coder's username and boom, all the feedback posts from jobs they've done would appear.

I will be specifically requesting that my customers do so from now on. But that's not really enough, it needs to be consistently done or a gap will look like uncompleted jobs or potentially negative feedback. A little nudge to people hiring coders to be sure to give a closing post would be most welcome.

I wouldn't spend 5 minutes of my valuable time searching for your name if I had never heard of you...which I haven't. Which is exactly my point...most people who are looking to hire here aren't going to seek someone specific otherwise they would contact that person directly. I will continue to use other freelance sites and my already established contacts to fill my needs as I'm sure most do already...those that have any sense about them.

A feedback system would be more ideal in this case. It would be eaiser for customers to research a single user by visting there vb.org profile instead of searching the request forum where hardly any of the thread authors replies too. A feedback system I had in mind could work something like this.

Client makes a thread about some service he/she needs done. CoderA, CoderB and CoderC all send there quotes via PM to Client. Client picks CoderB for the job. At this point the Client will send a service request to CoderB with the agreed price and any notes there may be. CoderB has to accept this request. Once CoderB Accepts the service request, then the Client will have access to leave a feedback note on the coders profile with a rating. The coder could reply in his own defense if there was a negative feedback left, or vis-versa

A system like this would be ideal in my mind and could be improved, but at least it would be a start. Then Clients can check out the coders feedback on past transactions. vB.org still won't be responsible for members who get ripped off, but at least there will be some sort of organized notes left for coders.

Or vB.org can continue to make stupid excuses and continue to just turn there heads as if nothing happens. Like it or not, but vb.org will just continue to grow and grow and this will just continue to happen if nothing is done.

Just to answer a point from a few posts back - having a vbulletin licence does not entitle you to use this site, and certainly has no influence on any decision to ban a member.

I agree that those wanting work done should do a back-groud check on the coder ;)

Thats not the impression Brads post give. And he is a site admin also.

First time the staff here does something about this (banning a user, listing him as bad) that customer is just going to complain to jelsoft about it and will probably be un-banned/un-listed/whatever. On the very slim chance that he isn't...well then you'll have a whole staff team spending all their time reviewing reported users and attempting to prove/dis-prove the claims made by people that got ripped off.
