I fixed my problem.

Log into your ACP
On the left look for "Languages & Phrases", click the "down" arrow.
Click on "Search in Phrases".
In the "Search for Text" box type "custom_links_link".
A couple rows below are three options, select "Phrase Variable Name Only".
Click "Find".

You should see search results.
Click "Edit".
In the text area type the word you want to replace "Extras" with.

I'm upgrading this hack so you can create unlimited number of drop down menus.
My question is "Do you want each drop down menu to have their own independent usergroup permissions"?

The way I have the new version coded is that each menu has their own usergroup permissions then the links in the menus have their usergroup permissions of their own.

Yes separate would be good as a option..i have used drop down menus but not this mod i have done my own...but find that guest would like content too.
Either way is good.
