I found what I was doing wrong, thanks anyway peeps..

pruned to zero - it still kills the server - and its a quad core with 16gb of ram.

Switched to VSA chatbox - works like a charm

I'd seen other posts about server load issues and this mod. Personally am thinking of swapping over to vbShout.

If you tweak refresh settings and active users you should be fine with server load.. I have tried them all and this is the one I came back to. This is the best chatbox/room out there. it is simply awesome..I wouldn't change to Vbshout..no way..

Can you go a bit more indepth into why you stick with this one vs others? I like pros n cons listings ;)

As much as I would like to help I just don't have the time right now to go through each chat box. All I can tell you is that I was very frustrated with each one of them and I ended up coming back to this one..

The problems I had initially with this one were really css problems with the style being used.

In reality it only takes a few minutes to install and configure any one of these chat boxes.. I would say to just try each one and see which one you like best. As far as resources go though it really depends on the features and the settings you use. You can really bare-bone this if you want and it doesn't cause much of a problem..

In my opinion this one is the best and it is just my opinion..sorry I can't give you pros and cons..

Hey guys, I am fairly certain this can be used to post videos but what about youtube videos?? Is there any way to embed videos??

I have a client that wanted fc integrated into 4.1 and it is a no go.. I was hoping to use this instead. What do you guys think about using this as a FlashChat alternative??

The client also wants to be able to post videos and audio as well..

One other thing--Why doesn't the "BBCOde" button appear in the full page chat window??

Finally--Has anyone written and tweaks or addons for this? If so would you be willing to share with your work with me? I will be glad to do the same..

youtube videos do work...just have to allow bbcode and just force type in [youtube]youtubeID[/youtube]

I used FC for a bit, but I didn't like how I couldn't integrate it anywhere else. Like I want my chat on my front portal page. Other than that it was a pretty nice chat overall.

What is the css that controls the "unhandled reports" tab?

We've been having an issue where the chatbox will randomly stop refreshing... Searching the posts, it looks like others have had the same issue, but I haven't seen any real solutions to the problem.

Keeping an eye on it, Firebug tells me it aborted while trying to post to mgc_cb_evo_ajax.php, giving me "AJAX Error: Status = -1: transaction aborted".

For now, my solution is just to add a setInterval up at the top of the mgc_cb_evo_functions.js that checks every minute whether the autorefresh is still going, and if not, restarts it. That's just a patch, but I'll look around and see if I can figure out what the real problem is. If the real solution has been lost in the thread somewhere, please let me know, otherwise I'll post up what I find if I figure something out.

If a screenshot is worth 1000 words, a video capture is worth a bazillion. This answers hanging questions on features such as support for colors, text size, and formatting.

Since I finally saw this instead of reading 400 pages about it or a nondescript bullet point list, I might go ahead and install it. Now I am convinced of the value.

I can tell you it will be shortly. How shortly, I can't specify but this is directly from VBDev.

Downloaded it, installed it on vB 4.1.1, but had some issues.

/pm works with uid, but not with uname
hangs under IE8 alot

Works great on my forums. Ton of options with this mod!

Not sure why but the refresh hangs up a lot causing my users to have to hit F5. Also I've had to disable the commands as anyone using a command such as /slap, even from the drop down menu will cause chat to lock up entirely until I go into the archives and delete the offending command. then all is back to normal.

I uninstalled this, but still have "MGC Chatbox Evo : Custom permissions" in my Usergroup settings. I tried to reinstall/uninstall, but they are still there... any idea how to get rid of them?

I have followed the instructions made a channel. Can't see it on my bbs.

I think this is one of the all time greatest mods i have seen. i will donate to the creator on this mod. This is a great addition to my forum. I have nominate this mod and it is the first mod i have nominated since I have been on vb.org. Great work and great job. It is obvious alot of work went into the development of this mod. I just want to say greatwork!!!

I have experienced a couple of problems:
1. I had the box showing up on top under navbar on all three spots. When i changed it to under the forums the box was unusable and it said loading all the time. when I tried to type in the space it said missing token or something. It did however work in full page mode. So in order to get it working I disabled it and uninstalled it then reinstalled it. I don't want to do that again cause i have put a lot of work into bot phrases. Is there a way to download and upload them?

2. I can not figure out how to have a avatar show up for my bot. I have created the user and put in a avatar for that user. i put in the user id for for that user. it shows up from that user but the avatar is still the "?" one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, go to yoour admin panel>> MGC Chatbox Evo menu (top left column)>> Chat formating>> scroll down to - Message to display in the input field on page load and change in field provided

I think that this is small bug. Also, avatar not show for your user (if I remember correctly), but other users see it... We expect new version with all fixes....

I just installed it. The last update was a year ago.

When I change "Chats display order" to "Oldest first," the actions drop down appears halfway down the page when I click on it.

If I change it back to "Newest first" it appears correctly. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

I am wondering what the VBSEO rewrite rules do and how and where to install the script?
