4.1 - "Loading" for me too... If you type in the box, it does update the box and then displays the conversations. The problem is that once you refresh you're SOL.

I actually donated to this mod a while back. If it's still supported, I'd be more than happy to send another donation with hopes that a few of you might follow me. 1-2 5 $10 or more dollars might give the dev some incentive to support this great modification.

abouthere 12-02-2010 02:31 PM

I'm also on 4.1.0 now and getting loading all the time. I've turned off display time but still see no notifications or chats.

Guess we'll have to wait for an update.

Skyrider 12-02-2010 02:59 PM

Even a full re-install doesn't seem to work, mugh.

VBDev 12-02-2010 08:26 PM

Hey,

I know I have been kind of a ghost lately, life has been rude for me with the broke up with my gf and haven't yet finished cleaning the situation as we had an appartment for rent and the delay is 3 month...

In 3 weeks my life shall be cleaned and will be able to see to the future.

I'll then come back on the scene.

Cl?ment

Halfhidden 12-02-2010 08:36 PM

Hey Clément
I haven't posted on here for ages..... I respected your situation.
Hope things work out for you.
To the others... Please remember that Clément is giving this mod for free! Please respect that he has a life.

If you can't see the options in the left side of the AdminCP then you have uploaded the files and installed the plugin wrongly. Make sure you check each usergroup (including the admin) to see if he has the permissions to view / use the chatbox.

unbanning occurs via scheduled task.

Everything is controlled by AdminCp including usergroup whether you want them to use the chatbox.

lafsunlmtd 12-07-2010 04:07 PM

This chatbox is pretty sweet. I'm glad there's a vBulletin-integrated chatbox that has channels.

Is there a way to start with a different channel open, based on the page? As in, instead of always starting in the default "Main" channel, if someone goes to the "Special Chat" custom page, it starts in the "Special" channel.

If not, has anyone had success installing the mod twice? I tried renaming everything and just uploading it all again, but it gave me database errors and I had to restore from a backup. Maybe I just missed something, though.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm still testing the new beta v3.1.0 and am waiting to hear back from VbDev about a few things before I post anything else.

eido 12-09-2010 06:31 PM

will this cause any security threats to my forum? coz i know that shoutboxes have some security holes that hackers would use...

saku 12-13-2010 05:29 PM

Do you already have a release date?

Check your usergroups!

Habsy 12-14-2010 10:52 PM

I can't get this thing to stop being French. I used a fresh install option and followed instructions but it is still in french. The instructions are pretty vague too.

Habsy 12-14-2010 11:08 PM

Ended up uninstalling it. Perhaps you have better directions if I installed it wrong but I do not believe I did.

Did you follow the Readme file? Step 4 is installing the language pack.

You need to load the english.lang file and use overwrite, all your french will turn to English!

Habsy 12-15-2010 04:16 AM

I did and now my database is corrupt and I cannot update usergroups.

This mod really did a number on me.

Habsy 12-15-2010 04:26 AM

One warning to users. Read the instructions carefully. If you simply uninstall the product without first deleting the files on your server you WILL corrupt your database as far as usergroup functionality goes. If you did this accidentally simply reinstall the product then uninstall properly per the instructions.

I could not get this chatbox to work for me at all and spent the past hour wasting my time. Installed the simple VSa instead. Worked immediately.

What a pity dude :(, That's too bad. I hope you guys could arrange your differences.
Bonne chance mon ami

Digital Jedi 12-15-2010 04:30 AM

Reading the instructions is crucial to the installation of any modification. You should always make sure to review them before doing an install/uninstall. Please note that installing the language pack is not what corrupted your database. It was to be done as step 4 of the fresh installation process.

Habsy 12-15-2010 04:42 AM

With all due respect I have been installing products for 5 years now successfully, I did not say it was the language pack that actually caused me the issues. This mod simply did not want to work for me and I do read instructions and familiarize myself prior to installation to avoid issues.

I will admit that I deleted product out of frustration but realized what I did and implemented a correct uninstall. My previous post was simply to help those that may encounter the same issue.

No, you won't. Please FOLLOW the instructions.

As with ANY mod/plugin you do on your site, it's COMMON knowledge to do a backup.

I don't think you meant to, but the way you responded to my post insinuated that. I wanted to make sure to anyone reading that there wasn't any more than the usual risk of importing the language pack.

eido 12-15-2010 03:06 PM

will this cause any security threats to my forum?? as hackers tend to use the shoutbox to deface/hack forums.

Your forum is vulnerable right now. If you mean will this make you any less or more secure, all that can be said is there haven't been any reports that I know of about this modification being exploited. Likely there would be reports here if it were happening all the time. And if it were a huge, frequently reported security vulnerability, it would have been reported to the Staff by now. No one can say if it will make your forum any more or less secure, but we can say we've not heard much, if anything, about it being so. However, this risk pretty much exists with most modifications, even vB default.
