i am trying to add the attachment thumbnail (like it displays for featured articles) to the "articlebit" template, but am having no luck.
i'm using v3 Articles for music and film reviews, and would like to have the attachment used as a thumbnail beside each listed article. basically, i'd like it to go where the post icon goes now. can anyone help me out? |
Has anyone addressed the moderation bug yet? This is a huge issue for us as my site has writers which submit their articles, but can be viewed before I approve them. Please help!

Colin F is the super developer who did the work for me... I'd suggest PM'ing him - he is very good. (and tell him I sent you yeah...:) ) |
That's not the bug i was talking about, I was referring to this one:

After looking through this thread closely, I found one person asked this question and did not get an answer:
Is it possible to change how attachments are stored? I changed attachment storage for all of vB to file system, but v3Articles doesn't follow suit, nor is there an option I can find to change it for v3 Articles alone. If not a current option, will it be in the next update/version, or is there a quick code change that can alter it for me? Thanks, ~Garrett |

Simply question... can HTML be posted in the articles??
Also, I noticed a few pages back that someone had trouble linking to sites outside their domain. Has this been addressed?? |
Yes, you can enable HTML in the category setup area. I have no problem with outside links working with my installation.

Just a question....
I read threw this thread but was not able to find any answers.... Is this possible to call the featured article on another page... for example the into the FORUMHOME template? If yes, i would certainly use this awesome hack... exactly what i was lloking for. Thanks for any help provided and, above all, for this excellent release. Thumb Up. |
Also.....
Is there a way to provide an RSS feed (for example with the external.php file from vBulletin) of the articles? Really a good feature to add on the wishlist. |
I have this up and running and I just thought of something for a future release.
It would be good if it was possible to span articles over multiple pages. This would be particularly handy for those large articles that contain lots pictures etc. It could also have a drop down menu at the bottom of each of the article pages which give you quick access to the other pages within the article. Hopefully that makes sense. I could use this feature now so if anyone knows how to add this functionality now, please let me know. I am quite other would find this quite handy as well. |

i REALLY like this hack, nice job!
i'm wondering if you could help me mod it slightly just to fit my site. i'm trying to change the text at the top of the articles table that says "Article Categories". i searched as many documents as i could for that text and i couldn't find it, so i didn't know what to change. since i just installed it today i didn't want to start messing with things without asking first. :ermm: also, i'm wondering how to change the name of the section in the main nav bar. it default says "Articles" (Forum Root > Articles > Main Category) how do i change the name of the articles section? thanks, this is a great hack for vB, and thanks for the vBadvanced addon too! whoohoo! - inverted :devious: |

Great mod!, but I have an issue/question/regarding this mod:
I want to use my V3 Articles to post articles written by outside sources. But I want the submitter of the article to be able to submit in fields the article author (modifying the 'written by' field), and direct external link to the original copy. How can i? |
bendigo-tech; thanks for the help... worked like a charm to change that category header :)
hey, if anyone figures out the navbar text could you let me know? Quote:

I can't get the bloody thing to work.
3.0.3 with v3 Articles 1.0.1, I am getting a blank (forum colours & fonts) template page at article.php. See here First installation gave no errors. To fix it I have tried uninstalling, including manual database table dropping of the 5 articles, & the usergroup modify. I have re-installed again resulting in the same problem, with the addition of no setting options viewable under "vBulletin Options" heading in the control panel. What's the go anybody? My board has many hacks & none of them were dramas to install. It would be a good enhancement to our forum & in it's current non working state it is not causing any grief, however getting it to work was the aim of the game :squareeyed: |
The install went without an hitch, excellent!
I do however have one problem that I've tried to resolve without much luck, I'm sure it's something dumb and staring me in the face  After posting an article with images all is fine except the images are not showing, just the horrible little red crosses, enlarging the image works fine so I know the images are being uploaded, I am using 3.0.3 with GD installed, any ideas where I'm going wrong, sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find anything about this, thanks in advance. |

Thanks guys. Is there supposed to be an option for v3articles viewing permission in "Usergroup Manager". Cause i dont see any and have updated them quite a few times but still getting the cant view permission error
EDIT : I realised my problem, a forgotten file edit, so silly :speechless: Anyway i had cleared my 5 article tables and the articlepermission in usergroup, and then tried to install again. Then did my forgotten file edit and here is back. However, under Admin CP >> vBulletin Options >> v3 Articles theres no option now, may i know where i should add/edit the database for them to appear ? |
ok, i know this doesn't fall into this thread completely, but i was hoping someone here could help. i added the "printable version" addon to the articles, and i'm getting a database error on the printable version. everythign for the regular articles worked fine, but when i click printable version i get the following error:
Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3: Invalid SQL: SELECT article.*, articlepost.*, articlecategory.options AS categoryoptions FROM article AS article INNER JOIN articlepost AS articlepost ON(articlepost.postid = article.firstpostid) INNER JOIN articlecategory AS articlecategory ON(articlecategory.categoryid = article.categoryid) WHERE article.articleid = 1 AND articlepost.type=1 mysql error: Table 'database.article' doesn't exist mysql error number: 1146 can anyone with more experience in php and SQL help me out here? thanks/ - inverted :ninja: |
Do you use a table prefix ? I suspect the prefix may be missing from the hack query.
|
uh, yea, i chose a prefix on the original install of vb, i forget exactly what it was, blah, i think it was the default prefix  vb_ or something
how could i find out what the exact prefix is and then how would i add it to the hack? thanks for the help - inverted |

Does this mean my install is knackered forever? I can't fully remove the install & start again because of the additions to the templates. If I do the remove step it leaves more than just the database table behind, which is apparent when I re-install unsuccessfully. I have no options in the control panel, & the content of article.php doesn't show, only the editted template with upper level "article" heading. Bugger :disappointed: |
Hi
How and what can i add the needed phrases for v3 articles ? I think i removed them all during the uninstallation and couldnt get them back, getting "phrase xxx not found". Thanks |
I've looked throughout my admin cp and I'm just not seeing a place where I can adjust the file size limit. Does it not exist, or am I just insane?
Thanks! |
Well i installed it, and whilst it *can* be great, there are two main things stopping me from releasing it to my users yet:
1) If you delete an article it doesn't delete the images from the database 2) Once you have uploaded an image, you cannot edit the text under it nor change its order. So if you want to add a photo inthe middle at a later time, you need to delete all the attachments and then re add them.... Has anyone done any work on either of these issues? |
It's under "Attachments"-->Extensions & Sizes if you're talking about attachments.

Thanks! That would be exactly what I am looking for. |
can someone help me?
i would really like to know if it's possible to have the attachment thumbnail show up in the list of articles. if it can show up in the featured article, i don't see why it can't show up where i need it. i attached a thumbnail of what i'm looking for. if someone can help me out, i'd really appreciate it. |
