Oh dear. Sorry Fillip, forget what I´ve written. I had a hell of a day yesterday. Nothing related to the DBSEO, just real life stuff, one thing led to another and I´ve just lost it and tentions made an elephant out of a mice.

CoffeeLovesYou 01-12-2015 03:51 AM

If any professional can install this mod for my site through teamviewer, I am ready to pay.

DragonByte Tech 01-12-2015 08:51 PM

Teamviewer is not currently an option we offer for Pro Install. You can, however, create a temporary FTP over SSH (A.K.A. SFTP) account and simply remove it after Pro Install is done :)

Thank you Fillip,

Through teamviewer I can learn and help myself to install the script on other vbulletin installations I manage.... If I see any sensible improvement in SEO, I would order the pro version for every installation I manage

JJBB 01-13-2015 04:05 AM

Hi there,
I got this DBSEO installed and really like it but I having trouble setting my site default to CMS home. I can't get my forum shows up. Setting default to forum works fine. Am i doing something wrong? or there are some settings I can tweet?
Thanks in advance! Mark as installed :)
JJBB

Update #1:
Solved by setting "Force Forum Directory Index" to "NO"
Thanks singapore by post #80 https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....5&postcount=80

Update #2:
Now I'm having login problem. The light box login won't come up if the site ended with "/". (http://mgoforums.com/forum2/#login-box). Anything with .php ending works fine. Any ideas?

Resolved. Thanks Fillip!

I disagree. I would and do use TeamViewer, GoToAsssit, or any other remote access software to assist people. Most of the time these are the users that want to learn how to do things so that they do not have to pay me a second time to it or apply what I show them to other similar issues if they feel comfortable. What I generally do is mirror the desktop and then skype with them first and let them perform the work as I watch over. If it becomes too much then I can gain control with their permission and show them that way. If they don't like what I am doing or question it, they can easily and quickly disconnect me. I try to educate all my clients.

MySQL Error  : Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes
Error Number  : 1153

Marv 01-21-2015 01:06 PM

Had some problems at the start, but after Fillip was able to sort them out, DBSEO looks really promising :D We expect the next update in BigG around 4/2015 for this site. Can?t wait to see, what the result may be.

Manoel J?nior 01-24-2015 11:59 PM

The above error continues

This is a server issue. You or your host will need to increase the 'max_allowed_packet' in my.cnf, then restart MySQL. I recommend at least 32M for this setting. If that doesn't work, try 64M.

Budget101 01-25-2015 01:38 PM

Well, I bit the bullet and paid for the FULL Pro version of this one so I could "import" my VBSEO settings.

I have to say, So far, I'm fairly disappointed in the results (or lack thereof!). None of the CMS urls are remotely close, in fact, they don't seem to be changed at all using the dbSEO.

I submitted a support ticket, but no one has replied (yet), so perhaps someone here can offer some insight.

I've installed dbSEO and imported the settings using Maintenance> Backup/Restore

However, with vbSEO the section names were used in the CMS content URL's= with dbSEO it's not displaying the section name, it's displaying the word "section". How do we remedy this so that each section functions properly?

The old VBSEO url's Appeared Like this (replacing the word "Section" with the actual "Section" Name:

Code:

http://mydomain.com/ramen-noodle-recipes/ramen-noodle-mania-contest-3040.html
However, the Link using dbSEO currently appears like this (when you right click and look at the source code in the page):

Code:

http://mydomain.com/section/1548-ramen-noodle-recipes/
and it displays in the browser url like this:

http://mydomain.com/content.php/1548/[/CODE]

So it would seem that currently the CMS areas of the site are not yet being rewritten despite the settings.

Of course, none of this is on a Live site environment, it's on a test vb install to avoid screwing up my live site until I can work the kinks out.

As you have the pro version you need to go to their site for support also they will config all settings for you if needed for free just post on their site and ask for it

Over Skype they can watch your screen, it does the same thing, but better than teamviewer as you are not going through them they are only watching your desktop

I got the following problems when installing this:
  • no custom avatars
  • clicking on the little arrow from the forumdisplay or forumview, to view the most recent post, resulted in a white screen
  • When browsing "today's posts", clicking the icon for latest posts brought up an error message? But if I click on the thread page number or the title I could bring up the thread and scroll to new posts
I uninstalled and all problems were rectified. Any solutions? I do have custom work on the site.

Hi,

in Vbseo when insert forum link in a post, I turned with the name of the topic.

Example:

Forum link:
PHP Code:

www.xxxxxxx.it/forum/guide-obiettivi-360-a/18492-%5Bguida-soluzione-obiettivi%5D-50-cent-blood-sand.html

VBSEO result link:
PHP Code:

[Guida Soluzione Obiettivi50 cent Blod Sand

DBSEO result link:
PHP Code:

www.xxxxxxx.it/forum/guide-obiettivi-360-a/18492-%5Bguida-soluzione-obiettivi%5D-50-cent-blood-sand.html

You can do the same thing? thank you

DragonByte Tech 02-02-2015 09:18 PM

Could you post the actual error messages received? It's a bit difficult to assist me when all I have to go on is "there's an error message" ;P

Just courious to hear what others experience:

Since DBSEO is installed we had to alter some server settings (var_maxs limits) to make sure, that DBSEO can work and changes in the vb backend, that have to run many queries at the same time, are stored completly in the DB and not only partial. That was what we´d experienced before and resulted in a variety of problems, until Fillip could sort out that we had to raise our var_max_input limits to over 10.000 and to remove Sohusin from our server. We don´t felt very comfortable with this, as we´ve tried to tweak our server to be more hardend against attacks we´d been facing in the past. But even those limits don´t avoid, that we receive DB errors from DBSEO stating "Too many connections" from time to time. That may be related to the fact, that SE´s are actually reindexing the new sitemaps and this creates usage peaks. Fillip already explained, why this limits have to be that high but I hope DBTech comes up with a somehow "lighter" script.

The reason why I´m typing this essay: since we´ve installed DBSEO we watched the server closely to see how hard it hits regarding server-performance. By now we´ve noticed that our CPU-load more than doubled and is running with up to 140% (w/o DBSEO 50-70) on a permanantly basis and also we see server load averages (1:5:15) with ~ 1.49:1.66:1.69 (w/o DBSEO ~ 0.7:0.8:0.7). (Server specs: Opteron 6338P with 12 Cores x 2,3 GHz, 32 GB DDR3 ECC, latest CentOS and SQL versions)

Anyone else experiencing something like that?

I've also been getting the "too many connections" error a lot lately on a forum with medium amounts of traffic (perhaps 1000 users online at once) and a server with similar spec to yours @Marv. Not sure how to resolve it yet, am talking with my hosting company.

Did you had vBSEO and what situation was then?

Anyway, about server load averages, this is nothing and you have at the moment a lot of room for your server.

Each core (you have 12) is represented with 1 when it's up to 100% load in server load averages. So, if your server would run with 50% load, you'd see something like: 6:6:6 (well, the number of the beast :D). You could interpret it like 6 cores run to the max and 6 aren't working at all. Or any other way you want to.

Having 1,5 load would be problem on 1 core server. With 2 core server would be actually just fine.

And these values aren't exactly linear, but give you idea how hard your server works. Anyway, you still have a lot of room for loading your server up. A really very lot of room. Your server works with about 10% load, which is nothing. Probably you don't need so strong server (if it is your peek load, of course).

Wow, this plugin just saved my day - thank you.

But I have a problem. Before, I used vBSeo. Thread-URLs were like forum.com/forum-title/../threadtitle-threadID WITHOUT .html

I dont care much having html or not, but the old links do not work now. Links from google are all horribly wrong and get redirected to my front page. Any solution for this please? fast maybe? :D Allready tried this:

RewriteRule [^/]+/[^/]+-([0-9]+) http://www.domain.com/showthread.php?t=$1 [L,R=301]

It redirects correctly, but damages another plugin and some pictures on my site.

beside that, german umlauts like ?, ? and ? do not work in urls? I allready set utf8.. :(

DragonByte Tech 02-05-2015 09:02 PM

@ the speed issues: DBSEO needs to open a new DB connection because it loads before vBulletin does, so that is why you're seeing extra MySQL connections needed. This is not a problem unless your server is a toaster.

Also, server load is only a problem if it approaches the number of CPU cores you have available. For instance, on a Dual CPU 8-core server, all server loads below 32 is perfectly normal. 2 CPUs x 8 cores x 2 due to HyperThreading.

0.7 to 1.6 is literally nothing.

@ vBSEO: An importer from vBSEO is available in the Pro version of DBSEO, so if the default URL formats in DBSEO cannot match your vBSEO URL formats then you will not be able to use your vBSEO formats in DBSEO Lite.

DragonByte SEO v1.4.2

Bug Fixes:
  • In some cases, URLs would redirect to a 404 page if the URL format had been changed previously
  • URL Rewrites for other DragonByte Tech mods would not work in certain scenarios
  • (vB4) CMS Comment URLs will now load page 2 onwards as intended
  • (Pro) Custom 301 redirects will now once again work as intended

General / Other:
  • The readme.txt file now contains additional vB4 instructions pertaining disabling vB?s built-in Friendly URL library

This is a cookie issue, not related to this mod. They need to make sure they use the Remember Me functionality.

@umlauts: Make sure the Keep Non-Latin Characters setting is selected as well, otherwise they will be stripped.

A simple template change that will remove the "Remember Me" text and the associated tick box. Upon login the code hides both of functions, but will submit automatically the 'Remember Me' box as ticked. It uses a simple code change and one additional parameter to check the box.

Installation:
Login to your AdminCP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Edit Options -> Edit Templates -> header template

Find:
Code:

<label for="cb_cookieuser_navbar"><input type="checkbox" name="cookieuser" value="1" id="cb_cookieuser_navbar" class="cb_cookieuser_navbar" accesskey="c" tabindex="103" /> {vb:rawphrase remember_me}</label>
Replace with this code:
Code:

<label for="cb_cookieuser_navbar"><input type="hidden" name="cookieuser" value="1" id="cb_cookieuser_navbar" class="cb_cookieuser_navbar" accesskey="c" tabindex="103" checked="checked"/> <vb:comment>{vb:rawphrase remember_me}</vb:comment></label>
How it works...
All I have done is changed the input type to hidden, added the checked parameter and commented out the Remember Me phrase using vBulletins own comment system
