Then I must have a lot of buggy browsers.
I see the SB snapping to bottom even if I've scrolled up on the following browsers
Firefox 3.6.9 (Windows)
Firefox 3.6.12 (Windows)
Firefox 3.6.11 (Linux)
Chromium-7.0.517.2 (Linux)
Chromium 9.0.571.0 (64609) (Windows)
IE8 8.0.7600.16385 (Windows)

I did a screen record with camstudio and stuck the video here

This is freaking awesome. No issues and all working fine....except one small thing.

How do I get the sound notification to work? I have it checked ok. Is there another mod or add on I need first?

Hmm, well in that case I don't think there's anything I can do about it unfortunately :(

The JS code I used is the only way I know of to prevent scrollbar position resetting, and my efforts at searching for new code has been fruitless.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Have you got the QuickTime plugin installed and enabled in your browser?
Note, it doesn't appear to work in Safari on Mac.

Nice mod thumbs up

warrior uw 11-07-2010 07:17 AM

i can't get the sound working on firefox. i have installed quicktime and still nothing

DragonByte Tech 11-08-2010 02:20 PM

If you are having problems with sound, please follow this check-list:

1)
Did you select a sound to be played in the Instance Manager?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Instance Management -> [Edit] -> Shout Sound / Invite Sound / PM Sound

2) Are sounds turned on?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Settings -> Enable Sounds

3) !!!Pro Only!!! Are sounds turned on in the UserCP?
UserCP -> Shoutbox -> Shoutbox Settings -> Shout Sounds / Invite Sounds / PM Sounds

4) Is the QuickTime browser plugin installed?
QuickTime Plugin- Please note that you need to restart your browser after installing the plugin.

5)
Does it work in other browsers?
If you only have one browser on your computer (Internet Explorer) you should try out Firefox.

6) Is the following text present in the source of the page: <embed ?
Right click -> View Source -> Ctrl+F -> <embed
If this is not found, and all the above steps are completed, then you may have an out of date template. Please revert any customisations to dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox

If none of the above steps fix it for you, then it's a browser issue that we are unfortunately unable to assist with.

Just paid for the "PRO" version ... but did NOT receive a link to download any products.

So unless I hear something soon ... be very careful here folks. I just lost some hard-earned cash on this one with nothing to show for it.

DragonByte Tech 11-09-2010 02:51 AM

I take it you didn't try the Members Area then :)

Fillip

vilhiem 11-09-2010 03:20 AM

Thanks Fillip ... I found it now. Perhaps I'm just tired.

On another matter ... is there any way to "archive" the messages in the other "chat rooms" I create as the admin? Or how best can I have private chatroom where messages are archived?

Thanks and nice mod.

DragonByte Tech 11-09-2010 01:26 PM

Messages are automatically archived, however unless you enable Deep Logging (a Pro-only feature) then if you or any of your shoutbox moderators /prune the shoutbox, the shouts will vanish forever.

Currently, the only way to display the deep logging shouts is to view them via the AdminCP / ModCP, but we may look into creating a front-end display for it in the future :)

Hi I just upgraded to the latests version which has blog notifications. Is there anyway to turn off blog notifications? they are really annoying on our set up!!

thanks

DragonByte Tech 11-11-2010 05:35 PM

Go into your Plugin Manager and disable the two Blog-related plugins for vBShout :)

ImagineXGU 11-14-2010 09:46 AM

My users are encountering "Error on page" while viewing the shout box on forum with IE8. Whenever I disable it, the error goes away. Is there any way to fix this?

DragonByte Tech 11-14-2010 01:25 PM

Can you ask them to check Firefox' Error Console (Tools -> Error Console)?

Fillip

Injustice 11-14-2010 08:41 PM

Members can report shouts but when submitting it mentions they don't have the correct privileges and also where can I view the reported posts?

DragonByte Tech 11-14-2010 09:06 PM

There's a tab for reported shouts for people who have permissions to manage reports :)

Zweeper 11-19-2010 07:26 PM

any chance to get this working in a widget??

DragonByte Tech 11-19-2010 07:47 PM

There's no current plans to put this in a widget due to the advanced editor tools we have available :)

Fillip

Zweeper 11-19-2010 07:52 PM

okay, thanks for the information.
maybe you have any idea if there is a simple shout box available for a widget? just looking for something simple.

but anyway, nice addon!

xug 11-21-2010 10:52 PM

After solving 3 errors posted here I ended up with another error I can't locate even the reason why I have an error, the entire shout box shows fine, no strange things anymore but when I type something in the entry box, the text stays there and in the big box it states:

Error: Not Found
Loading...

What can this be? I have re-uploaded all files and imported the xml file several times.

liefdesdichter 11-23-2010 04:11 AM

Archive shows only the the main shout box and not other chat rooms

If you install the addon "Firebug" in Firefox, and open it (click the bug icon in the lower right) then observe what happens in the Console tab when you post a shout, then post back what it says :)

thanks...simple question.how to integrated this mod with ligthweit style by darto
please help

DragonByte Tech 11-28-2010 07:21 PM

We're unfortunately unable to assist with customising this mod to fit individual sites' styles - if we did, we'd never have time to develop any new products ;)

barakuda 11-29-2010 03:01 AM

Any skin coded properly will work fine with vBShout (there are hundreds of sites using it on many skins).

That being said a lot of skins are not coded properly (using the correct templates, hooks etc) and if that is the case then it may not work correctly with vBShout.

The shoutbox doesn't appear to be accessible to newly registered members.
My username is Belazor if you wish to upgrade it to the needed level to see the Shoutbox.

I've been able to confirm it and I will release a fix with the next maintenance release :)
Hopefully that will be soon, I'm just waiting confirmation on my suggested fix to an IE-specific problem :)
