Installed the application a few days ago. It has been working GREAT up until 7-8 hours ago when it just stopped posting new threads or replies to threads. Unsure what has happened because I have changed no settings. Anyone else having issues with it today?

LouiseWilson 09-13-2012 12:33 PM

Seems like the errors in the log are nothing to do with this mod, as I've been investigation

When enabling
vBulletin 2 Twitter: Test/Debug Module 2
I get a 200 parseerror and a NULL at the top of the forum still, anyone else got any Ideas ?

Videx 09-13-2012 02:48 PM

I'm no expert but I tried a quick Google search on "200 parseerror" and it looks like a problem with JSON. If this isn't your own server I would suggest contacting your host's tech support. Maybe contact them anyway just to see if they have any ideas.

Sorry if you've already tried this but I just glanced back at your last few posts and I don't see any mention of it or if it's a shared server or what.

steeler7 09-17-2012 01:35 PM

43 pages is alot. i went through and searched for this topic but no dice.

I set up a bit.ly account and entered the username and API. I created a thread and it went out to Twitter but there was no link attached to the Tweet as there was when I used the "is.gd".

any ideas?

Videx 09-17-2012 02:01 PM

The most obvious idea is: Don't use bit.ly. Something a lot of us learned long ago. Nothing but trouble.

i've been using the other option but it seemed to me that "bit.ly" shortened links were more prominent on Twitter than the "is.gd" so I was shooting for using something that may look more credible. Unfortunately all I'm getting where the URL is, is the word "Array"

sivaganeshk 09-21-2012 03:46 AM

Thanks and working in vb 4.2

Marked Installed, tagged, Nominated :)

RichieBoy67 09-25-2012 04:47 PM

Great work! I have wanted something like this for awhile.

I have it installed and have everything set up, my server has the correct components. I am getting nothing in twitter and when I tried to use the debug plug in I cannot even access the page to see the results.

I have the url set to not shorten at all and I am not using the seo url option because I have Vbseo installed. Is Vbseo the problem? If so is there a work around?

I believe my settings are correct. The two options for read and write are both set.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Thanks,
Rich

I am able to run the second debugger and I am getting this..

object(stdClass)#13 (2) { ["error"]=> string(34) "Could not authenticate with OAuth." ["request"]=> string(23) "/1/statuses/update.json" }

Read more: http://###########.com/forum.php#ixzz27VRzYpfc-----

The token is now set as read,write,direct--I was trying just read and write before..I am searching the thread now in case someone else has had the same error but if anyone is familiar please let me know.. :)

sivaganeshk 09-25-2012 05:00 PM

I use vbseo and has is.gd settings. it is working fine in vb 4.2.0

Although the plugin doesn't post new tweet if the threads are in moderation queue and approved later.

RichieBoy67 09-25-2012 05:23 PM

I have it working now finally. I redid the application and entered everything and now it is working.. Cool..

Also, as for the read and write settings.. It is Read,Write and Direct Messages--not just read write? Is this correct?

Thanks guys!! Siv, I will try using that..thanks dude!

Is there support for threads via rss to be posted to twitter. I have it adding threads posted regularly, but the posts made from rss feeds are not added to twitter.

Videx 10-03-2012 04:13 PM

No, it has something to do with the way VB creates posts. Only a human made post behaves the right way to get tweeted.

Which may not be a bad thing, because if you're getting the post from someone else's RSS feed then it's probably not ethical or legal for you to be (re)tweeting it anyway.

All of the posts are perfectly legal. Hopefully support for rss post will be added soon.

biocyberman 10-08-2012 08:03 PM

I could not make bitly.php work for me. Switching to is.gd works perfectly. Is there any security advantages to use bitly.com ?

sticky 10-08-2012 09:37 PM

Does this mod support multiple accounts? For example OT posts/threads tweeted to an OT Twitter count and other forum posts that are on topic to a separate account?

Fongool 10-11-2012 11:57 PM

Ok, I installed this on Vbulletin 4.2. I wasn't getting the Twitter posts after posting in the Forum. I checked the Debug Mods 1 & 2 separately.

Here are the results:

vBulletin 2 Twitter: Test/Debug Module 1

So does it work if you disable the MGC chatbox? Is your MGC updated? Have you searched this mod for previous experiences with MGC?

Fongool 10-14-2012 08:52 PM

Still doesn't work even with MGC Chat disabled. I believe the chat was updated, I received an email telling me there was an update available. But I have it disabled and it still will not post to Twitter. I have it set to not use any link shorteners. and to tweet when creating a new thread, but it doesn't...Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Question 8:

My threads and posts are created with no error messages, but no tweets are posted..... how can I check that I if this hack is working?

Answer:

To test to see if it is working, there are two diagnostic plugins available to test the functionality on the Twitter side of things (and are disabled by default):

vBulletin 2 Twitter: Test/Debug Module 1 - which tests to see if you are actually authenticating with Twitter
vBulletin 2 Twitter: Test/Debug Module 2 - tests to see if your Twitter Application is set to "Read & Write"

In the AdminCP, select Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager. Enable the above plugins one by one, follow the instructions to change the userid to your userid and copy and post the responses for both plugins (displayed at the top of the page on your forum when you refresh the page) in this thread (be sure to indicate which response is from which plugin) and then I can see what is going on.

NOTE: Remember to disable both the plugins again once you are done, as they are only included for diagnostic purposes.
I just done this.....

Module 1:

PHP Code:

string(24

Module 2:
PHP Code:

object(stdClass)#12 (2) { ["request"]=> string(23) "/1/statuses/update.json" ["error"]=> string(22) "Status is a duplicate." }

Can anyone help please?

I think I have followed everything as I should have but it still doesn't work... =/

SpottySocks 02-13-2013 09:10 PM

OK I've fixed it mostly, and got it working.

Only problem now is..... Even though I have selected 'YES' to both -

'Enable vBulletin to post to twitter when creating a new thread?'
and
'Enable vBulletin to post to twitter when posting a new reply?'

It is only giving links to replies on Twitter - not new threads!!!

Help please? I'm pulling my hair out here....

You could simply use graffitti or such like provided by Facebook to post rss feed to your wall ..etc

Videx 03-03-2013 11:20 PM

I managed to get our FB posts working but "simple" wasn't the word for it. More like true "rocket science". And it's delayed sometimes by several hours. I wish I could remember exsctly what I used so I could recommend trying anything else. But I think my mind has blocked out the whole disagreeable affair.

That's pretty unclear. Are you saying all your tweets work fine except when something there is included?

In general, to troubleshoot you want to disable url shortening, and make sure you can tweet from the account manually.

Thanks for the heads up, disabled URL shortening and it worked.

I have the same problem. There is any update on it? Bit.ly can post to twitter directly the missing posts.

Anybody know the settings for not get the Vbulletin forum to send out tweets when the post are moderated.

I think I remember some brief discussion about this a long time ago, but I don't recall that anyone ever made it work. But you can try reading/searching the whole thread.

It may be more of a Feature Request for a future version, but I think it would need different hooks in the vb core to make it work.

Weeds 03-23-2013 04:55 AM

Yes it is a big problem since the tweets are sent out even if the posts are not shown in the forum they link back to a empty page in the forum. People think my tweet account is hacked.

Videx 03-23-2013 04:26 PM

Possible workarounds?
*) Exclude that forum from tweets.
*) Change the text on the empty page message to explain what's going on.
*) Stop moderating posts. Lots of trouble anyway.

bhalkum 05-10-2013 10:21 PM

Works great. I do have a question though.

My community is a joint venture by several sites. Anyway to get multiple Twitter account support? Say I want forum 1,3,6 to post to Twitter A, while forum 2,4 post to Twitter B, and so on.
