this might help someone else: I had to clear out my browser's cache after the latest upgrade to get the facebook login image to appear.

Digital Jedi 12-29-2008 03:18 PM

For the record, I was only pointing out where his FaceBook account info was.

Coop1979 12-29-2008 03:22 PM

pete_brady, I can get the image to appear on your site, but when I click it, it doesn't do anything. Might want to take a look at it.

thanks, but i think that's as much to do with my .htaccess not redirecting to the www. version as anything else :)

I understand that BUT surely the following shouldnt happen.

Person A has all their data pulled, it shows up correctly in their profile fields and their avatar.

Person B has their data pulled, it shows fine in their profile but it shows Person A's Avatar as their Avatar

The only way to make an application in FaceBook is to become a registered member.

Ok, thank's for your answer. :)

leasedomains 12-30-2008 02:15 AM

Is there anyway you could make these template updates automatically happen when installing the product? I know other modifications do this.

Also what is the purpose of the default user group with this mod? I created a facebook user group because it said it was recommend, but I don't know what it does. Does that mean I have to set all my users to have that user group so they can use the mod?

ZATSU 12-30-2008 06:35 AM

Ok, forgive me if this has been covered already. I searched for 'merge' in this thread and I am not understanding the process.

I have this mod installed on my site and it seems to be working fine. However, I need to know the exact procedure to merge my existing users.

I assume when merge user is mentioned, that you mean to:

1) Have the user login using facbook connect and let facebook connect create a new user.
2) Use the AdminCP function under Users > Merge User to merge that user to their facebook user created by facebook connect.

My main question is, if I want my user to maintain their user ID, will setting the Source user as the Facebook user and the destination user as the existing user work?

Or do I not have the procedure right? if not, can you explain in detail the procedure or point me to the post that describes this procedure?

Thank you

Can you please let me know what changes you made on your server to get rid of the php code showing? I am having the same problem you went through.

Thanks

I made a couple of changes but I believe the one that had the effect was enabling short php tags as my server was set to only allow <?php ?> rather than the <? ?> that this script uses

jlew24asu 12-30-2008 10:33 AM

did someone have a fix for this before?

The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL (http://www.sundeviltalk.com/xd_recei...%220.655%22%7D) must have the application's callback url (http://sundeviltalk.com/) as a prefix. You can configure the callback url in the application's settings.

You don't have to do anything. Have the users click Connect with FaceBook and when they're asked what screename they'd like to use, they'll be given the option to use their existing account.

I can not open the News-Feed Templates and Data Mapping from admin cp. I get blank pages as well.

And when I activated the plug-in the left vbadvanced bar on this site disappeared.

Digital Jedi 12-30-2008 10:35 PM

Sounds like you may have deleted a closing tag during one of the template edits.

If I look at the path all it shows is a # and thats it?

McCarroll21 12-31-2008 01:26 PM

When I tried to install this I got an error using the quick reply function on the site. It kept returning an error stating that my post needed to be more than X characters long, when it was.

I may have missed something in the template changes, but as of now I've removed all the template changes, deleted the application on fbook and uninstalled it from my site.

I was just wondering if anyone else had those problems before I try again.
