what exactly do you mean? Can you give us a more detailed explanation of what you want?

Scamorz 08-10-2008 09:05 PM

Ok, sorry for my english :p

I have 2 tabs; when i click on the second tab i would want change automatically the style with another one. Is it impossible?

I suppose tab's link must have a redirect to a specified style id (&styleid=xx)...

King Kovifor 08-10-2008 09:54 PM

It may be possible with a style ID in the URL.

Its blank when you click the tab, no forums show up.

PM me and I'll take a look when I can ..

Any results from this? i'm having the same issue

TheInsaneManiac 08-12-2008 10:02 PM

How come when I hide the forum from public view and then link it to a tab, it shows everything as private?

Captain Tycoon 08-13-2008 09:26 AM

The first tab does not show all the forums underneath it when it is automatically "selected". Plus, whenever i click on one of the tabs, it does not use the same style as the forum, it just uses a blank style with the forum title, descriptions...etc there. I have sent you the forum link through PM as i would like it to remain private for the time being.

PS: I am using the AJAX Version.

Replied back ...

Ziki 08-15-2008 08:27 PM

It does affect Search engines :)

I just checked google cache, google cannot access my forums or threads because it doesn't support JavaScript, thus the forums do not load.Could you please make a work around for this?

Ziki 08-15-2008 08:33 PM

Also when the user accesses the tab.php file with a category it should redirect him back to the forum,so it can be only used within the forum :)
This modification is very good and should handle these things :)

Fully unobtrusive, search engine friendly design. For search engines or browsers with JavaScript disabled, the external contents will just load as actual pages (instead of via Ajax).

No further development is being done on version 1.5 .. version 2.0 is a total re-write and is driven off of YUI Tab View. The 2 systems are going to be totally different (thats why its taking us so long).. I'll add this as a request for version 2. If you have anymore requests, feel free to post them now so we can get them in

Yep. The management system alone makes it an amazing product. :) Please send us your feature requests and we will try our hardest to get them into 2.0.0.

Hiding the forum from public view goes for the tabs too. Having them private in the settings makes them private in the tabs. We use vBulletin code to build the forums and if it is private it is private. Make it publicly viewable and it will show up.

But thats the problem. How do I make my forums show only in their respective tab and not in the main tab also?

I'm using the non ajax version.

King Kovifor 08-16-2008 08:31 PM

What Main Tab? Can you please post your forum home code?

TheInsaneManiac 08-16-2008 08:48 PM

The first tab with all my forums in it. Unless I unactivate them, they are all displayed on the forumhome's main tab.

King Kovifor 08-16-2008 11:02 PM

Um. OK. I have no experience with the first one. I am guessing that don't use links or something. Bob will have to answer this.

Well I hope he can do it soon. Basically I wish to not display any forums that are in other tabs. Like if baseball is on one tab, I don't want it to display on the main tab.

You don't HAVE to use the $forumbits variable in the first tab.. create a specific variable for the first tab, just like you do for all the rest fo the tabs.. That's only in the EXAMPLE for those that want to have all the forums within a single tab...

Thanks a lot dude! Everything looks great. Although I can't wait until the product. I hope you add in a feature to allow the members to go to their UserCP to choose the default tab to be selected on load. That would be awesome.

I will add it to our internal tracker, but I won't guarantee it for 2.0.0, but I know admin set defaults are already coded into v2.

Hi all,

Was there a reply to being able to display a subforum under a tab - that is, a forum that is not a category, but has threads/posts? I am trying to bring forward two or three of our heaviest hit forums up under a tab...

All I get is the header - no threads under it. I posted this before, and have been watching the thread, but I see no updates on that one...

Any advice is appreciated.

What are your subforums currently set at? (to display) maybe you need to increase that number by one.. ie, if its set to 0, set to 1

Hi
I have installed the non-Ajax version of this mod due to:
1. The current Ajax version will never go out of Beta as version 2 is being developed
2. Having tried both now I feel the Ajax version is slower then the non-ajax version
3. I don't like the way the forums drop and the getting forums line and graphic is displayed

So, I have the non ajax version working great, very fast, displaying multiple categories on each page - I have a generic category that is displayed in all tabs and a tab specific category.

A couple of things though:
1. The tabs don't display a focus when manually selected - the first tab always displays the having the focus - how can I fix this?
2. I need about 12 tabs - this is going to make the Forum Home template extremely large - is there a more efficient way?
3. I use the "How To Put A Space Between Each Forum Category" tip at vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156783) and unfortunately I no longer have that space between the categories any more - any suggestions?
4. As I have a generic category that contains about 10 forums displayed on each tabbed page can anyone suggest how I can have the tabs below that generic category and when each tab is selected the screen doesn't go to the top of the page?

Please see attached images

As for number three of not liking the AJAX version, the new version removes this little 'feature' and it now an invisible action and looks like it is just updating data (but in reality is reloading the page). :)

As for the comments:
1. I don't understand.
2. v2 will fix the need for editing your template as I have coded the entire ACP back end.
3. I will look into this.
4. Not sure.

iBaker 08-20-2008 02:28 AM

Thanks King Kovifor - I have just installed the Ajax version and I will have to wait to get the "Requesting content" and image removed in the next version unless you want to PM me with the solution.

So with the Ajax version and my 4 requests:
1. Is no longer a problem and works properly
2. Is also no longer a problem as all I need to do is just add 1 extra line item per tab
3. This is also fixed and interesting to note is that the Ajax version accepts the space between categories mod without any imapcts
4. This is the only thing I need help with:
As I have a generic category that contains about 10 forums displayed on each tabbed page can anyone suggest how I can have the tabs below that generic category and when each tab is selected the screen doesn't go to the top of the page?

Thanks!

iBaker 08-20-2008 02:31 AM

Oh, one more thing...can I make a suggestion to be included in the next release?

Have it so a user can select in their control panel which tab they want selected as their default - thanks!

ArchangelX 08-20-2008 03:30 AM

Will this mod work on a 3.5.x version of vBulletin. It looks brilliant...

Of course you can suggest! I have added this to our tracker, but cannot guarantee that it will be in the next version.

Oh well, if we are asking for things perhaps it would be good, and make it more of a professional integration, if the search, advance search, new posts etc only displayed items that were specific to the tab that you are on.

If for example you have 150 forums spread across 10 tabs and the user is only interested in the forums contained within one of those tabs (i.e. forum categories) then it would make a more pleasant user experience if the search was only the forums in the tab they are interested in, or new posts only displayed the new ones in those forums and not every new post spread across all 150 forums.

Just a thought - and asked by my forum users :)

For me, this seems unfeasible. As switching between tabs would make us have to use AJAX to change the quick search query after extracting the category ids and allowing sub-forums in the search. I will add it to our tracker, but most likely won't see it for a long time.

This really isn't necessary? Considering advanced search lists all forums and you can select any that you want to search in.
