On the team channel flashing when there's a new post, on mine it's working but it's very subtle, more of a fade in and out than a flash. I'm using FF 2.0.4

Actually you are not exactly right sybakaos.

The auto refresh is not dependant of the idle mode this is the idle mode which block the auto refresh and then show an idle message.


J1755EC6A244, when you say that autorefresh doesn't work, what have you done to tell that ?

What happens when you click on the refresh button ?
Thanks, now it worked, in version 1.2 I had edit mgc_chatbox, mgc_chatbox_bit, mgc_chatbox_editor in Templates, so when I update to version 1.3, files mgc_chatbox, mgc_chatbox_bit, mgc_chatbox_editor in Templates didn't change and it work not good, I Revert and now it worked.:)

I am running 3.6.7

It is very strange. I seemed to work at first then quit. For the most part when members view the Chat WOL it shows them as the only members in the chat when others are there chatting. People will drop from the VB WOL after inactive timeout, but they are still actively chatting.

The previous version worked correctly with the VB WOL.

What were your problems when installing the chatbox ?
The issues I had was that it wouldn't load unfortunately. I ended up installing the inferno shoutbox later on which is working fine for now...

as for the uninstall suggestion that's kindof what I did... except for removing the files from the server.

When I uninstall the chatbox product and disable the bitfields I have a section in my usergroups where it wants permissions from the chatbox but it has no text in the boxes...

forgive me because I usually am not the one that does the modifications for the board so I really dont exactly know what I am doing, but would removing the files and completely uninstalling the bitfields solve the problem in my admin cp>usergroups? if so I will try that but I dont want to until I am sure

Me again sorry
A member has just told me that his shouts are not going up in the chatbox and it just says idle all the time but he can see them in the archive, so he went to his profile options and clicked no for no chat box and he cant get it to work no more as there is no box on his profile to tell him to click chatbox on

I don't clearly understand, your users becom inactive ? And then they dont show any more in the wol ?

Yes removing the bitfield file of the chatbox and then rebuilding bitfields will solve that.

Sorry that my product didn't fits your needs :(

Your style doesn't support the navbar modification this is the reason, remove the links from the navbar templates and it should be just fine :)

When he shouts it told him idle ?? What time period did you put for the idle timeout ?

Regarding the option this seems to be an issue, to revert the flag for him you need to go in phpmyadmin then find that user and tell me what's in the mgc_cb_params field for him and I'll tell you what to put instead.

..it was set at 5 and now ive changed it to 15, ill go and look in phpmyadmin now

With such values there shall not be such problem.

Another suggestion if I may. To drop insertion in the nav bar. Maybe to have an icon for full page display(with alt text) next to bbcode, smilies and help icon. Archive is already linked in shoutbox header and "view the chatbox" probably won't be interpreted as view it in full page mode by most people.

I dont understand what the wol feature is. When i click it nothing happens but the normal chanel button dims down.

Also i cant figure out what the /announce thing is for because when you type it nothing happens?

This is exactly what we got on upgrade. The files and product were installed correctly, but it just needed a CTRL + F5. I put a note on the forum about this, and a few replied that they needed the refresh to get it to work.

You have to do template modifications (mgc_chatbox template), this is html edit ;)

dont worry about it... the truth is I think I was biting off more than I could chew with it, was a bit more than I knew how to do.

your box had better features but the other one seems to work ok too and the members are ok...

eventually we may try again after we get better at doing installs like this one :) it would be a nice little upgrade :)

Is it possible to have the box show up on one forum only, or alternately have it work with one style only so I can then assign one forum with that template.

Ive tried the whole # $search_text = '$forumhome_markread_script';
replace with $search_text = '$chatbox_forumhome'; but it still displays on all styles.

I upgraded to the 1.3 version, edited my chatbox templates, changed the settings, tested it for a while... and suddenly it stopped working. It says "Loading..." but nothing happens and when i enter a message it redirects me to the archives. The buttons are also inactive and IE gives me a javascript error message:

"Error: 'auto_refresh'" undefined.

I fully uninstalled the product, reverted the templates (a few times) and made a fresh insallation but still no luck. I'm stuck here.

I even dropped all of the chatbox tables via phpmyadmin, installed the earlier versions, cleaned my browser caches (both in IE and FF). Help needed :)

Yes yes that's right, but with those options the unregistered still can't see ?

If you do so and put $chatbox_forumhome on one style, it shall not be seen on other styles (only for forumhome as you seem to do the modification for the forumhome template only).

Did you revert templates ?
Did you uploaded the js files correctly in the clientscript directory ?

This is possible errors when the javascript is firing such errors.

5 times at least... I just renamed the file as mgc_chatbox2.js and replaced the line in the template but it didn't change anything... I restarted apache and mysql... (memcache+memcached+xcache installed) It's simply useless... Advice?

:S This seems to be a really strange strange problem especially with the fact that you told me it worked before and stopped working.

Does IE tells you any error ? Have you tried on a different server ?

I've 4 servers running that web site. 3 web servers and 1 db server. All of the servers have this issue. Can you check it for me if i PM the needed info?

Yes I could check that out coz maybe this could come from my chatbox or from server side and I need to know that :)

You can change the 15 to your liking..
Just make sure to change the smiley limit in the admincp..
