Very strange. I assume you're running the newest version of the vBulletin product? Have you done any modifications to any templates that operate in profile.php?

Amenadiel 01-18-2007 01:12 AM

I've read most of this discussion and it seems nobody has my problem which is: Zoints Local runs really really slow on my forum, and I can assure you it isn't a bandwidth problem (because I've got a 40MB link) nor a server power issue (it runs on a 2400Mhz dual core Athlon 64).

I've tried disabling the mod rewrite option, but that doesn't help.

That's strange. Can you post or PM me the url of your site please?

Amenadiel 01-18-2007 07:20 PM

Uh never mind, for some weird reason it took a few hours to normalize and from then on it runs ok. It takes a couple of seconds redirecting from the old profile but that's about it.

Chapman, would it be too hard to code an option to ignore/deignore an user from the zoints local profile?

Also I'd like to see a "last logged on" information.

I've had requests from my users to have a search facility in the blogs/discussion sections. Quite a few of my users have hundreds of entries (they are developers / sysadmins so use the blogs for notes etc). And are losing track of "past entries". Is it possible to ahve a serach facility in a later release? Some have ask for blog categories as well but I'm guessing thats going to be a pain to implement so I've told them to get a blog elsewhere for the mean time.

That actually shouldn't be too hard to add. And yes, we'll do it in a future release. :)

I tried to upload vehicle photos but I get this error. What shall I do?

Ask your host to turn off safemode.

MotMann 01-21-2007 08:54 PM

Is there a german Version?

Matt_270581 01-22-2007 04:52 AM

First of all, great hack. nice job.

I'm having a few small issues.

I've installed zoints local in a folder below my forum root /blogs

Anyway, It seems the drop down menu for "Actions" and "Style Settings" doesn't work in IE7. Works in Firefox though.

Also the Iframe for the Forum Profile page needs some sort of Scroll bars to scroll across perhaps as it doesn't fit inside the window as it is too wide.

Where do I get the Photo Album (albums.php) from?

Thanks in advance.

I turned off the safe mode but the message still comes up...

Another problem is, that after uploading a profile picture its not showing it on the profile page... :(

Datenpapst 01-22-2007 07:23 AM

<a href="http://forum.c-arena.com/z/blocks.php?z-profile=Fanatic" target="_blank">http://forum.c-arena.com/z/blocks.php?z-profile=Fanatic</a>

just look at it, the ie just tells me all the time that the script has errors o_0

I know it is being actively worked on. I don't know if it's ready though. Have you checked the german version of vb.org site?

There are often multiple versions of safemode enabled on a server. If you're still getting the safemode errors, then it's still interfering.

As for the IE javascript errors. Please go to /z/zadmin.php and turn off your forum header and footer to see if that resolves the issue.

1. Try disabling your forum header and footer in /z/zadmin.php to see if that resolves the actions dropdown issue.

2. Did you import the vBulletin product?

3. The photo album page is no longer provided because it was horrible. Please disable that page via /z/zadmin.php > pages (sorry for the confusion on that). We'll be providing better photo album integration in future releases. And there are some great album blocks at http://dev.zoints.com if you want to check those out.

Firestar.chkn 01-25-2007 07:11 AM

Hi,

I've installed the mod, and when I get to the end of the install/index.php setup, I just get to a white page with an error message on it:
Quote:

This installation of Zoints has been turned off.
I've done a search on this forum, and as far as I know, the previous user who had this problem hasn't been sorted out yet :(

I've tried to go to /z/zadmin.php but I get the same message on this page.

Any ideas?

That happened on my forums as well.
I dumped the whole thing after that.

I am having the same problem of the drop-downs and drag and drop not working. I did disable the forum header and footer and they do work now. So what's next? Is there some code missing in the forum head template?

Thanks! :)

Zoints 01-25-2007 05:39 PM

Howdy :)

When you went through the installer, the last step was to click a button to "turn it on". Did you do that? I ask because a few people have experienced this problem and I'm trying to figure out why. Anyway...

Execute this query via the vbulletin admincp:

Code:

REPLACE INTO zp_settings VALUES ('active', 1)
If you need help doing that, please let me know.

Sorry for the trouble!

We're starting to get this issue localized now. Is your navigation in your forum header template?

Yes and no. I have two other templates called by the variables $navbar2 and $navbar3. $navbar3 has most of the navigation. So it looks like this:

$navbar2
(header info)
$navbar3

So.... I guess that's a "yes".

LLcoolMP 01-25-2007 06:39 PM

I installed Zoints on my Vbulletin 3.6.4 board. I think it would be nice to have a page with a list of the profiles with new entries on the blog and another page with a random list of profiles.

Is there a way to have this page on my forum?
Thank you

obx11 01-26-2007 01:12 AM

I like it but I kind of think it takes away your visitors and members from my forum while doing a search in communities. Is their a link back to my forum for my members? Did I miss it?

vasudeva 01-26-2007 10:39 AM

This has a couple really neat ideas, but the appearance is a dealbreaker for me.

I could deal with the branding, and the search taking some users away from my site, but doing it with an interface so markedly different from the rest of my site tips the balance. Poking around, I've seen mention of a branding-free version, but it seems pretty expensive compared to the price of vbulletin itself.

The emphasis on user profile data and not on the blog entries themselves is also a stumbling block for me. My main interest is a robust, searchable journalling system. (This also means I probably don't represent the target audience of this mod.)

Having said that, Dchapman, you're to be commended for your attention and responsiveness in dealing with users' needs. You set a really good example. Additionally, it's a lot easier to let a company's brand show up on my site, and let my users be taken off to other sites through that company's portal, when that company takes pains to present themselves as yours has.

Back to vBJournals for me, probably, but I'll keep an eye out for where this project heads in the future.

With custom work like that (very cool by the way :) ), we'd likely need you to add that data manually to the header/footer area in /z/zadmin.php. A tutorial for doing that can be found here.

Indeed. We've decided to go away from that. Search will default to the forum soon. It was a silly idea on my part to have it global by default. I'll have the fix for that soon.

Frankly, our blogging system is lacking at this point but will improve significantly over time. You COULD turn off the profile pages and leave just the blog side of things. And we of course have a vbjournal importer so you could keep all that information. But if your main desire is a blog type system, I'd wait for us to improve things before switching.

Thanks for your kind words though, I really do appreciate it.

When will you release the next update? :)

Hi Dave,

Since migrating my server my zoints local has stopped working.

When trying to access part of zoints, i get the following:

Quote:

Groups are pretty integrated into the system. Removing them at present would require a significant amount of work, sorry.

Hi Olliee,

Go to /z/includes/localsettings.php

In there you will find:

Code:

# Forum Settings
$config['forum path'] = '/home/something/public_html/something';

Switching servers likely changed that. Correct your path and you should be good to go.

scart3r 01-28-2007 11:01 PM

I have installed the system and it looks great! But I have no sight of it in my forum. I think I have set it up right, is it because of the template I am using? Do I need to add some code to the template?

Cindy

scart3r 01-28-2007 11:35 PM

Alright, I found a round-a-bout way to get to it, by clicking on view member profile and then go to my profile. Once again, it look really good, but would be great to have easier access. Would love to have a link in the quicklinks section, and have it available at user cp.

Cheers,
Cindy
