Do what I did and remove all the smiley stuff from the vbshout forumhome template. I have a lot of smilies installed, and I didn't much care for all them having to load on every forumhome page view.

Despite that, great hack - or extension or whatever. :p

How do we prune specific shouts? I realize we use the command "/prune [shout]", but how do we specify which shout?

Any chance we could give all the colors... real names? Or possibly take all of them out but the most basic: red, blue, green, etc.

Also: I think this is a tiny bug: the /me command cannot be used unless it's the first entry in the shout. /me screams! will work... but Stacie cries as /me screams! will not work.

As far as I can see, you can only just clear the shoutbox or clear specific user's posts. /prune acidburn0520 would clear all of your shouts, and I don't think what you're looking for is available (yet?).

What exactly did you remove?

Username Links To Profile
New Admin Conrols

New vBShout Position (Directly Above Forums)
Banned Users
Banned Usergroups
Banned Permissions

I tried removing the code and the Shoutbox ceased to function. So I just left the "Emoticons" URL untitled.

Locate in your forumhome_vbshout template:
Code:

<a href='#' id='vbshout_emoticon'><if condition="$vboptions[shout_extra_options]">Emoticons</if></a>
Replace with:
Code:

<a href='#' id='vbshout_emoticon'><if condition="$vboptions[shout_extra_options]"></if></a>
Locate and remove in your forumhome_vbshout template:
Code:

$Smilie_Build
That's a quick fix... but I'd still prefer to remove the actual code.

Bug?:
banner user can still see the shoutbox at forumhome; settings are not dispplay

requests:
- disable preload of smileys

ragintajin 08-01-2005 06:30 AM

Outstanding hack! Just one request...an admin option to choose between ascending and descending order of the shouts.

I get the same.

Also, it doesn't work for unregistered users even if the user group isn't banned, they still see the shoutbox, but it just says loading all the time.

It also doesn't work to well with Opera so one of my members tells me.
