although, I also do wish to get to update asap, this indeed sounds a bit rude. i don't get such attitude.

I also posted other fixes in the thread that people were having trouble with, including a start on how to fix this very own issue yourself, so me being selfish is uncalled for.

You didn't originally state that if the author would like your help that he can ask for it. You just stated that out of respect to the author that you won't release the code. One would have thought that if you got it working you'd contact the author yourself to help him out.

If people think me giving my opinion of someone being selfish is rude... wow you haven't stepped outside lately. if I had a working code i would have already personally contacted the author to offer my assistance because i'm a generous person.

OR, we're just being patient and POLITE. and we keep our mouth shut if we don't know what's the background...
anyway, there is no sense in arguing. i just hope to get to the update as soon as possible - for the good of our communities.

Why would I have? He had it fixed for the 3.8 version almost immediately and there isn't much difference between the two versions, as far as the fix is concerned; you can almost copy and paste what he changed from one to the other and fix it for the 4.0. I figured the updated version would have been out relatively soon. Also, I didn't bother taking the time to fix the reputation images from working on mine, as it didn't matter much to me and for the reason above. Now that it's taken this long, obviously the author is having difficulties so I said I could help.

You're rude because you're being presumptuous out of ignorance. Also what exactly have you contributed to this modification outside of these complaints?

I appreciate that Travis. It would help if I could see your changes. I do have the parsing bit under control, its the style changes (and time) that are mainly holding this back. I do not have vB4 so making updates are a little bit slower.
I'm unable to send the files right now, as I'm about to head out for work, but I will send my templates and files when I get home tonight after 7:00pm EST. If you want me to set up a test vbulletin 4 and let you use that to test updates from now on, I'd be happy to help out. Just let me know.

If claiming you were selfish is rude then I'm guilty as charged... poor you.

Oh so is everyone expected to contribute to modifications then? I'll tell you my contribution, it is marking this Mod as installed and giving it an Excellent rating as it is what the author deserves. And marking as installed and giving a rating is what people generally do to contribute to modifications. There IS nothing else for me to contribute so don't go round expecting something that can't be given.

I'm glad you are offering your assistance to the author but don't be stuck up about what I have contributed just because you've got your code working.

Travis641 02-01-2011 05:06 PM

This is ridiculous.

No one has to contribute anything, that's obvious. However since you called me the selfish one and you apparently have angelic generosity, I was wondering what exact contributions you have made. Nothing else to contribute? How about helping people with template problems or getting it to work? How about helping someone set it up on their forums? All of which is something I, and I'm sure others, have done. You on the other hand seem to only post when something is wrong, which is fine, but making demands isn't.

I'm not being "stuck up" because I have "the code". I wouldn't even be posting here now if you hadn't decided to go out of your way to insult me because you feel its my responsibility to fix your forums because you are too impatient to wait for an official fix.

This will be my last post on the matter because I don't want to fill the thread with bickering and your posts are simply laughable. This modification is listed as Not Supported, you should be glad anyone is working on fixing the issues regardless of how long it takes. This modification is free, time is not. I posted how to basically fix it, if you can't figure it out then I guess you have to wait for the update. Kicking and screaming won't change that, and I'm sure not just going to upload my files here because obviously they aren't mine, and I feel I'm stepping on Gryphon's toes too much as is.

So I'm dropping this, if you want to keep going, have at it.

ozione 02-01-2011 09:52 PM

:erm:

Travis641 02-01-2011 10:17 PM

I sent out my php and template changes to you, Gryphon. Let me know if you didn't receive them or if I forgot something!

Thanks.

Makaveli007 02-02-2011 01:00 AM

^any chance you can shoot them to me Travis? I found two areas in the 3.8 version that were changed (// in front of the original line and a new line put in) but it looks all garbled on my site and the scheduled task gives a database error
