Why don't you just import the IPB game via the settings in v3Arcade?

AdminCP -> v3Arcade -> Game Tools

@Biker_GA: Gotti is missing all of the PHP files that are normally in the .tar files. For whatever reason, he has the game's data files (swf & gif files) but not the php files needed for the installation process.

@KevinL & Helmut71: An updated converter is in the works but at this point I am asking myself if an updated converter should be released now or wait until the next major release (being worked on by Brian) is ready since that will include new functionality. Complicating matters, the /forums/arcade/gamedata folder will now be a shared folder between the two different systems. Opinions are welcome. :)

That's actually a tough call.

What would be the damage if one is released now and then an even more updated one is released with even more goodies? Just thinking out loud here haha I would like to at the very least get my members scores moved over to V3...of course the games would have to go also haha

What other goodies are we talking about in the next big release that would hold the converter up?

Why worry about the scores? I reset mine every month and make the members shoot for the top spots again. **GRIN**

It is kind of what I am thinking... release an updated converter now (prior to the next major release of v3A) but with some cavaets.

Brian is tackling the development from a few different fronts, the code behind, the GUI, and features. Behind the scenes, he is literally going through all of the code line-by-line to optimize it as much as possible & to standardize it to the Jelsoft coding recommendations for add-ons. That also includes moving a lot of the embedded javascript & CSS definitions to their own files and also to take better advantage of caching. For the GUI, he is working on making the templates consistent so that stuff like cell paddings (just an example!) is driven by the vB style definitions and not hard-coded. In regards to features, it is too early to give any answers yet since nothing is ever 'written in stone' until it is released, but to give some hints... Brian has a full range of products at vBadvanced to get inspriration from and both SKHMS & Oblivion Knight has given us their permission to incorporate their respective add-ons as well. So... it is safe to say that there is a pretty large pool of features being looked at. Of course everything won't make it into the first release of the next major version but the foundation will be built to keep us busy for quite some time.

Do you do that for all users across the board? I'm thinking some type of cron job could be configured to do that for you.

Biker_GA 03-20-2009 02:40 PM

Thanks for reminding me. LOL I keep forgetting about setting cron jobs to do that for me. And yes, the entire arcade is reset to no scores at the beginning of each month.

MetalMilitia 03-20-2009 03:26 PM

I solved my problem....

However, In the scheduled tasks (under Arcade Tasks) - what file should that be looking at when it tries to update the arcade tasks? It dosn't seem to be updating the 'champions' and stuff.

Well with ibpro I have one of the addons that every month it decreases the scores by a certain amount ( % ) that way it still makes them beatable (even to the ones who beat them haha)

But if I took them away completely every month I would get killed LOL!

Thanks for the reply :)

I don't see what would be the harm in that, as long as the new converter (with the next major release) doesn't wipe everything clean? For some reason I think I read that somewhere? But again I don't see the harm in that because I'm not coding it! haha

All those items that you mentioned are great! I really can't wait to see the updates :)

To see some of the ippro mods (like the one I mentioned with the scores being reduced) be added to this in the future, would be cool also. ;)
