Vbulletin version: 4.0.0 Patch Level 1.

Did everything written in the readme.html

I changed the permissions of usergroups then configured the chatbox setting + display settings.

Can anyone help ?.

exyuteam 07-21-2010 07:22 PM

You need to upload all files (from FILES dir), then import product.xml, (from PRODUCT dir), then if you need from LANG dir english.xml. Then, in usergroup permissions set what you want for each usergroup, and from Settings for Chatbox you need to set everything - "Activate the chatbox" must be YES :) and "Position of the chatbox...." set to predefined option to see is it works.

If works to all of us, must work in your forum :)

Seems to me this is a coding issue, since it loads perfectly every time if the /index.php is included in the url (aka if you click the banner or link back to home), but FREQUENTLY has this issue when you load to / (aka straight from your domain).

As you are also experiencing it with Cyb chatbox don't you rather think it could be a problem on server side ?

ETA Of Development

I just wanted to let you know that I am planning on releasing a new version of the chatbox by the end of the summer (august).

This new version will provide all the bug fixes + almost all the new additions :)

The delay between the release of the last version and the next one is mostly due to summer and also more works IRL :)

Yea I did. The chatbox is working here:

http://forums.steroidpedia.com/mgc_c...o=view_chatbox

But it doesnt shows up on homepage or anywhere else.

what can be the problem. ? ?

Barteh 07-22-2010 12:01 PM

Good luck :)

I'm having an odd problem by the way: if I edit a post in the archive view, then hit enter to submit, I'll get a vbulletin error message: "You haven't selected any chat to remove". If I go back to the archive view and refresh it, the edit will show though.
Could it be that the edit script is somehow still looking for a ticked tickbox (i.e. the one at the end)?

I considered that but since there are a good number of people having this issue, on both chatboxes, it's more likely that he code being used isn't correctly parsing the URL as a reference for the location, and the clientscript is unable to run. I'm no programmer, so this is a guess. Regardless whether it's a client/server/code issue, considering how many people have the problem, it needs to be addressed.

Wild Sabre 07-23-2010 12:17 PM

are you even going to reply VBDev ?? I thought Vb Community was faster in reply than phpbb. :(

Fantastic.

Suggestion for addition - Make the Bot better.. lol

Remember MSN Chatrooms with the bot you could have a proper conversation plus any swearing had you kicked out of the room.

I'm probably thinking outside the box but I think it has potential. :)

That is great to hear as I actually had to settle for using an older version for now.

Hi,
installed this chat! It´s really good, but there are a few problems with the w3.org validator.
If chat is activated, no one can validate the forum as xhtml 1.0 transitional.
There are 10 bugs... Is it possible to fix them in the next version?

Thanks a lot.

Wild Sabre 07-23-2010 09:19 PM

Problem solved .. I installed vsa chat mod. That mod is easy .. just one file and no uploads needed. No errors at all.

sinpin 07-24-2010 06:04 AM

good job,
works fine on vb 3.8.2, thanks

Any chance of having the More smilies option open a window similar to the one used in the message editor? :) (Sorry - really wanting to have that one)

As always, thanks for an awesome mod. Best one running by far.

Could you please add a report button for chats?
A chat report would work the same as a post report. The chat is quoted and posted in a post report forum.

I think that AIML or whatever that old chat bot was...which is OPEN SOURCE... Could EASILY be developed into this..... If anyone has any experience with that AI bot... then I would suggest contacting VBDEV via a PM to see if he would approve of adding that. Otherwise the bot it 100% useless in my eyes.

gpc10347 07-26-2010 12:36 AM

I got the AIML robot working within a thread of it's own and attempted to have it monitor the chat table but, never really explored going any farther. LOADS of work...

Now... moving on to some more of my idiocy: And this is almost embarassing to ask:

*** Question regardin a paid version removed. ***

Ranger187 07-26-2010 03:19 AM

GPC, BF just removes the branding....so other than showing it's "MGC" there should be difference unless he cleaned up MORE code since 3.0.0 was released...

That's very constructive remarks ! Just FYI I have a life and I am not sticked to the forum to see wether users asked for information and so on !

Remember that I am not a pro developer and doesn't do it for a living.

Either you misconfigured it or perhaps your style is missing some vars which I don't believe so as you are using vB's default style.

Hum try not to hit enter and click at another place of the page (not a link though).

Enter might fire the submit button of the inline deletion at the bottom of the page.

Well I don't think this comes from the chatboxes code but from a plugin or something like that on server side.

As I don't experience it it's hard to address :/

I never used MSN chatrooms so you gotta be more precise on what to make better.

That is already implemented.

I once looked at AIML that's not that easy honestly.
The bot I included is fairly simple and the one you suggest needs much work to be implemented.

Understandable, you can't fix a problem you can't see.

If/when you have time and would be willing to address this for all of us having this problem, I'd be happy to give you full access to my forum. Feel free to PM me and I can get you all set up. I know my members would greatly appreciate it :D

I have the bot assigned to monitor a specific thread: He replies to users asking him questions and such. Loads of AIML files to edit but certainly cool. Not sure it's in the scope of the chat but I'd certainly install it.
I turned another thread into a robot bartender that knows a few hundred drink recipes. Pretty useful stuff.

Like the More... within the wysiwyg editor: Something that would allow the user to choose from the categories would be nice for those folks who have Explorer and as you know, too many smilies cause the browser to flash or lock up. A drop down with the list of Smilies Categories would be a nice addition.

I don't know why Marco even edited that. He was CLEARLY in the wrong. As you weren't posting any code etc. You were just questioning if there was a difference in speed between the two, which in reality would actually help sell the BF version if there was an enhancement/speed performance gain. So, CLEARLY, he was in the wrong for removing your post.

And the same thing you asked her, you can ask on MGC's forum as well.... It would be IN THE PUBLIC AREA.... NOT members area. So there is 0% reason for your reply to be edited. I have spoken.

Thanks

I have something else though--Can anyone come up with a query to change all the usergroup permissions at once?? I have been trying for the past hour with no luck. The site I am working on has soo or too many usergroups..

Small bug report:

The avatars in the chatbox works great! But for some reason when I private message someone, I suddenly see "avatar" as text. here's an example:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/08/53.jpg

See? The avatar works fine, but when I PM him the avatar URL changes for some reason.

His Avatar URL: xxxx.com/customavatars/avatar2004_3.gif
Has changed to: xxxx.com/customavatars/avatar2004_1.gif

When I PM'd him.

Hello
I have installed into the Chatbox VB4 according to instructions. All rights are awarded. But unfortunately I do not see the chat in the forum.
Does anyone know why this is or what I can do? I'm a newbie

Skyrider 07-30-2010 11:31 AM

Chatbox bans dont work properly either.. Person gets banned within a day when fully banned when using the dropdown menu on the nickname.
