I have read through the last couple of pages looking for the answer to this and I can't findanything.

It likes like a great hack and I wouldn't mind getting it up and running myself, providing it works with vB 3.0.3

Thanks :)

Paul M 10-12-2004 10:34 AM

We have it running on 3.0.3 :)

There are a couple of bugs to fix, but I don't think they are related to the version of vB.

Actually, there is at least one bug I know of that is version related. I'd go through all the posts (I know, huge job), and read up on it before installing.

Someone needs to compile all the information required to run this on 3.0.3 and put it in one post. If no one has done it by the time I get around to extensively working on articles, I'll do it.

I can probably do this without too much trauma. I just installed it a couple of days ago, actually did read through this entire thread and took a few notes. I'll catch it later today.

I figured it out. Basically the images are directed to each "style's" directory. So basically I had all the images in the /images/ directory, while the style I was using was in the /images_grey/ directory. Just uploading to the correct directory fixed it.

Awesome MOD!

gnawph 10-14-2004 02:09 AM

I'm getting a query error:

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM article
WHERE categoryid=2 AND (articleuserid=1 OR open IN (0,1)) ORDER BY dateline DESC LIMIT 0,
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 2

mysql error number: 1064

SamirDarji 10-14-2004 04:32 AM

I'd double check to make sure you didn't miss anything when doing the changes required by the hack. I've run across this once and I was missing a comma. ;)

Parmstig 10-14-2004 11:24 AM

Thanks John, this is a great addition to the forums, many nice game/movie review are often lost by other posts, may i asked what your plans for the upgrades are?

if you have a humungusfantastico upgrade plan is it better to wait or will the upgrading be easy?

:ninja: i don't know why there's a ninja in my post

Benj 10-14-2004 11:40 AM

would it be possible to call the feature article from another Vb powered page if so how

SamirDarji 10-14-2004 02:41 PM

I'm sure it is because there's a module for vbadvanced cmps that can do it. I'd look at that and see if you can adapt the code.

robert_2004 10-15-2004 08:27 AM

You might need to use this hack in order to post HTML in the articles.

Can anyone confirm if that hack will allow you to post HTML in the articles??

EDIT: The HTML only for admins hack doesn't seem to work for me when creating articles. :(

ScottRempel 10-15-2004 08:18 PM

Hey fellas....I'm running vB with the vBadvanced CMPS (just starting to set vBa up). My site is www.ap0calypse.com and one of our main features is our hardware reviews. Up till now we have just been posting them in a dedicated forum, but I want to make it more professional, like on the bigger well known sites. You know, so the review has its own pages...you start reading the review, then click "next" to go to the next page of the review, etc.

Will this hack let me do that? I started reading the posts and it seemed like it.....but rather then read 40 pages I figured I would just ask the question.
Also, if someone is using this for reviews could you send me the link to your site so I can see what it looks like....thanks!

lakers6473 10-16-2004 11:41 AM

How do i do a clean uninstall? I had run the "uninstall" in the admin/install.php and i still have the articles in my admin options scroll down. What else do i have to install?

j_86 10-16-2004 12:56 PM

Think about it this way; you ran the install - but did it edit the admincp files for you? No it didn't - the file edits did it for you. So you must reverse-work through the file edits instructions :)

etaslim 10-16-2004 08:01 PM

Great hack! Installed smoothly on 3.0.3. Thanks John!

bendigo-tech 10-16-2004 11:57 PM

I want to install this hack as it looks fantastic. I don't want to though unless there is a way of using HTML. Does anyone know if HTML can be enabled for the articles?

mholtum 10-16-2004 11:59 PM

Sweet! Thanks for a nice mod and an easy install!

BarHopper 10-17-2004 11:10 AM

From what i can see, it all works. Except there is no button to add articles anywhere.

School-Help 10-17-2004 07:15 PM

j_86 10-17-2004 07:50 PM

Look through the thread to find out for yourself :)

Sorry for the delay on this, guys. Things have been nuts. I'll work up something today and post it so all the fixes are in the same place.

Do what you can. I'm still up to do it once I hit working on the articles section of my site (still months away).

Cent 10-18-2004 01:07 PM

Hi! Help me please!

Forgive for my English. I from Russia and I only started to learn English language.

I have installed "v3 Articles 1.0.1" on my forum. I have a little altered your script. But I have not achieved that result which was necessary for me. I need the following. On the main page v3 Articles there are many sections. I have made so, that under each section the reference to last news was deduced. I should make, so that three references to the last of 3 themes were deduced. As I should make so, that before references to news time of its publication has been written. E.g.: [20:18 | 18.10.04] - " Why not? "

Help to make it. Beforehand I thank you.

P.s. Forgive for my English. I from Russia and only started to learn English language.

My site is: http://www.lectro.ru/forum/article.php

welo 10-18-2004 05:53 PM

Well, I started writing a bugfix document for this by starting at the beginning of this thread and going all the way through, and most of the problems I see people having are not due to the fault of the script. I won't be recompiling the documentation like I originally thought, but for the newcomers (who probably won't read this post anyway once it drifts back one page), here are the relevant issues:I think that's about it.

SamirDarji 10-18-2004 06:09 PM

Excellent stuff welo. Thank you for doing this. I'm sure you've saved a lot of people a lot of time, including myself. :D

lanc3lot 10-18-2004 06:38 PM

Xmm, there is a prob - bug, with the moderation of the Articles!!!...Does in your board works well?

Cent 10-18-2004 08:15 PM

And to me will help with my question?

Forgive for my English. I from Russia and I only started to learn English language.

Chadi 10-19-2004 05:46 AM

Pardon me but how do I add the image box area in a featured article like shown in your screenshots?

I can't seem to find this.

BarHopper 10-19-2004 11:24 AM

And my question, ujusta simple error, witht ehr ebeing no Add button displayed, thats all.

zerinS4 10-22-2004 01:18 PM

Okay I upgraded to vB 3.0.3 today and now the articles page just displays a plain white page. What did I break?

SVTOA 10-22-2004 01:23 PM

Blank white pages usually means missing templates.

lakers6473 10-23-2004 12:32 AM

I try installing the article:

Quote:

Log into the Admin Control Panel.
Expand "vBulletin Options", and click on the "vBulletin Options" link.
Scroll to the bottom, click v3 Articles - click "Edit Settings".
Click on "Save".
When i get to this part. and view the v3 Articles. its blank ( meaning i get no selections) when i click on save it says "NOTHING TO DO"

When i go to the article section and click on an article i get this

Quote:

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM article
WHERE categoryid=1 AND (articleuserid=1 OR open IN (0,1)) ORDER BY dateline DESC LIMIT 0,
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 2

mysql error number: 1064

what did i do wrong here and how would i go about fixing it?

Kwak 10-23-2004 05:37 AM

Wassup guys,

I've edited the admincp files and that worked out.
I've created a new Bot and assigned the User ID in the settings. But I have no idea what to fill out for:

Regex Search & Replace for Titles

and

Regex Search & Replace for Descriptions

search & replace boxes.

fiber1 10-24-2004 06:51 AM

Well, I finally found my last issue conflicting between this hack and the VB Journal hack.

In includes/init.php

Journal has this for UserGroup permmisions:

PHP Code:

'canviewcomments'    => 4

and

Articles has this for UserGroup permmisions:

PHP Code:

'canviewcomments'    => 2

So, If you go into AdminCp/Usergroup Manager/Edit Usergroup and look for these 2 permissions:

Articles/ Can View Comments

Journal Permissions/ Can View Comments

If you select YES on either one of these it automatically kicks the YES and/or NO radial selection out of the other selection.

Thought I would give a heads up on this for those that may incounter this issue.

I don't have a fix for it, nor do I know why its and issue, (I can assume why) for I am not qualified to know what to do. :D

If anyone else know how to fix the issue it would be greatly appreciated.

The fix is already in the vB Journal thread, and has been for a while.

I have tried my best to install this hack but I still have some problem with the mysql . The install script can not insert setting group and phrase in to my database. I want to insert the mysql of article in to my database manually . Can any one write (convert the install.php) a mysql file for this hack ?

Thanks in advance!

Just one of those moments I guess.

Bump.

I am getting e-mails of my cronjob:

Did I type in the wrong URL for cronjob?
