By chance, do you know of one that will?

Thank you so much for your valuable time and energy.

No I don't, sorry.

Dave234 05-13-2012 06:40 PM

I successfully installed mine but I see nothing new on my vbulletin 4.1.11 website. Can you please advise?

BirdOPrey5 05-13-2012 09:14 PM

Please look at the last few posts in this thread, it is likely one of them cover's your issue.

If not post a link to your forum.

keteflips 05-15-2012 06:52 AM

This plugin only works in Guest Viewable forums.

?Its posible to make it works in all forums?

Thanks :D

chrisngrod 05-16-2012 03:11 PM

4.1.12

cricketusers.com

I just noticed this the other day, but if I use anything but the legacy Facebook share my Facebook connect disappears on those pages (ie forum.php, threadview). They are still present on the main page because I guess it doesn't use the share links.

I'm more than happy to purchase the Gold version. Only 10 bucks? Definitely worth it to show a little support.

Not in this version... vBulletin doesn't load any of the sharing code- plus Facebook can't "scrape" a private forum so it can't create a proper link. That's why vBulletin doesn't show it in private forums to begin with.

Weird- what VB version are you using and can I get a link? If you see on the demo forum Facebook connect works fine on all pages along with a non-legacy like button so it must be something unusual causing the problem.

chrisngrod 05-16-2012 04:29 PM

Sure I will re enable the non legacy Facebook like and you'll see on www.cricketusers.com it displays and www.cricketusers.com/forum.php it will not along with any other page utilizing the mod.

It is the newest 4.1.12 w/ update.

BirdOPrey5 05-16-2012 04:37 PM

What browser?

I see a working FB Connect and FB Like (and send) on this page: http://www.cricketusers.com/ctia-201...-possible.html

in Chrome.

chrisngrod 05-16-2012 04:52 PM

Interesting... Safari it comes up on that post.

PC - Chrome, IE, Firefox on my computer won't display it.

Safari does not display it on forum.php though.

BirdOPrey5 05-16-2012 05:55 PM

PC Chrome - works for me
PC IE9 -No Button... IE reports a javascript error: SCRIPT5009: 'jQuery' is undefined
jquery-ui-min.js, line 10 character 2

Can you try it on the default style temporarily to see if you have the same problem?

chrisngrod 05-16-2012 06:06 PM

http://www.cricketusers.com/forum.php?styleid=1

Same thing... I believe you should be able to use that link to view default. Normal theme is:

http://www.cricketusers.com/forum.php?styleid=22

I could also turn it off to show you that it does display with More Share Options disabled.

Thanks.

BirdOPrey5 05-16-2012 06:46 PM

Both links show me the same style.

You need to enable the option to let users choose their own style in Admin CP -> Settings -> Style & Language Options.

chrisngrod 05-16-2012 07:58 PM

Sorry... It was actually because default was not checked in the Style Manager. I do have a mobile style and desktop I let users choose from.

Thanks.

With the default style it is working on IE9 for me as well.

I'm afraid it's something in your style conflicting, but I don't know what- JavaScript is not my strong point.

chrisngrod 05-16-2012 08:34 PM

Hmm... Thanks... Does the forum listing display it as well? I've tried on different computers and it doesn't come up in my IE 9. Except I am logged in as admin which shouldn't make a difference, but I never know.

Paid and installing gold. Thanks for the quick help.

BirdOPrey5 05-17-2012 11:08 AM

Thanks.

No it doesn't show on forum listings... (forumdisplay.)

It's the same steps as for everyone else...

1) Make sure the Like Button is enabled in Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Facebook Options. There are "Like Button" yes/no for Blogs, Threads, and CMS. NOTE: This is different then the "Publish to Facebook" which is also an option for blog, threads. and CMS>

2) If the Like Button is ON make sure the content (thread or blog) is visible to guests. vBulletin will not share any page not visible to guests because Facebook needs to scrape the page and it only scrapes public pages.

If the like button is ON and the page is public, post a link to a page where you think the button should be showing. Also disable the More Share Options mod to make sure the default vBulletin Facebook Like button shows. The default Like button needs to show else this mod won't work.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried but the default Like button does not work. I do not know the reason.

BirdOPrey5 05-20-2012 07:15 PM

If its a custom style you should try it against the default style.

Obviously make sure the thread is guest viewable.

If still not working try disabling other mods to see if a conflict.

Dave234 05-21-2012 08:46 PM

Mine appears on the top of the page, but for some reason when I click it, it does nothing. It's weird because when I "Like" something, my website name appears on my facebook, and it says "Dave234 Likes This" on my website.

but when I click the "Connect" button at the top of my website, it does nothing.

Mine wasn't displaying at all... The connect button. I rewrote some things and got it to display, but clicking it just resulted in me being sent home.

Paolitus 05-28-2012 03:00 PM

works on vb 420..??

thanks

BirdOPrey5 05-28-2012 03:34 PM

Yes, you can see it in action on 4.2.0 at the demo site: http://www.qapla.com/mods/

GamerPerfection 05-29-2012 06:36 PM

I've installed it, you can see it here at the bottom of my forum: http://www.gamerperfection.com/forum.php but there is no Facebook button.

I have enabled facebook option in admincp > options. I didn't put an application ID because well i don't have an application. So why would facebook not be appearing?

BirdOPrey5 05-30-2012 09:18 AM

Apparently you need an Application ID these days for it to show.

So it won't work unless i create an application which I have no idea of how to do?

BirdOPrey5 05-30-2012 11:29 AM

In Facebook Options (vbulletin settings) there is a link in the text description of the Application iD setting - http://www.facebook.com/developers/

Basically tells you what to do, not hard.

GamerPerfection 05-30-2012 05:47 PM

I've entered the app id and the secret but it still doesn't appear on the share items.

BirdOPrey5 05-31-2012 11:44 AM

None of the required meta tags are being generated on your page, this is unrelated to this mod...

https://developers.facebook.com/tool...l-alive-691%2F

It may be your custom style, see if it works with the default style.

GamerPerfection 05-31-2012 07:08 PM

Ok it works with the default style. So there's something with my custom style that is causing a problem with it.

GamerPerfection 05-31-2012 07:48 PM

Ok, quick question. I reverted my headinclude template on my custom style which got the facebook bit working. I then compared my headinclude on my custom style to the default style an the only difference was this....

CUSTOM style had this in the headinclude:

Code:

<vb:if condition="$vboptions['enablefacebookconnect']">
        <script type="text/javascript" src="http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="{vb:raw vboptions.bburl}/clientscript/vbulletin_facebook.js?v={vb:raw vboptions.simpleversion}"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
        <!--
                var FB_APIKEY = "{vb:raw vboptions.facebookapikey}";
                var FB_RECEIVER = "{vb:raw vboptions.facebookreceiverlocation}"
        // -->
        </script>
</vb:if>

When I added it to the default style one the facebook bit didn't work.

I'm not sure where this code came from, was it your Mod that adds this code?

BirdOPrey5 06-01-2012 03:56 PM

No it's not from my mod.

FYI- Mods can't alter the templates saved in the database. When it says an "auto template edit" it is an edit "on the fly" you never see- it happens in code only.

Not sure where that code is from... maybe a very old VB version...

BirdOPrey5 06-13-2012 01:55 PM

New Release

More Share Options The Next Generation (3.0)

(Just a link to the top/first post.)

Please check out all new version- a complete rewrite of the old code!

Note- The Free version of this mod does have LESS built in share buttons then the Free 2.x version, however it allows the share buttons to be used on every page and has numerous other benefits. You should consider upgrading as it does still have the most popular options (Facebook, Twitter, Google +1) as well as "AddThis" which itself has options for every social media site out there.

ahobilam 06-13-2012 03:36 PM

After fresh install in my VB 4.2
I am not getting the Facebook Like and Send buttons
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24348664/more-share.JPG
Getting only Tweet, G+ and Addthis?
What to do?
nvs

BirdOPrey5 06-13-2012 04:14 PM

This happens if you don't have the built in Facebook Options setup properly.

In Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Facebook Options

You must have the Facebook Platform enabled.

You must have an application id and you should have an application secret too.

cdoyle 06-13-2012 06:32 PM

Hi,
I just installed the new version, but I don't see any buttons now.
I went through the settings and it looks like everything is set right.

I disabled the old version first before loading the new one too.

Any ideas?

BirdOPrey5 06-13-2012 07:47 PM

If the mod is enabled, is the setting "Automatically Show Below Navbar?" enabled?

It is by default but maybe it got accidentally shut off?

At a loss as to how/why there would be nothing,

If you want you can PM me an admin log in and I'll take a look.
