Nope. No vBseo either

Although I moved the forum into a new directory when I upgraded it, and have 301 redirects in place for that.

mod rewrite must be enabled if you ever want that .htaccess line to work

Ok, what do you mean by enabled? I thought you were asking if I had mod rewrite urls, which I do not.

mod_rewrite is an Apache module that must be enabled on your server in order to use rewrite rules like "ReWriteRule ...".

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current...d_rewrite.html

joeychgo 05-15-2013 02:19 PM

Yes, the apache module is enabled and active.

Alright I'll need to know a couple things.

1) What is the structure of your website. Is your forum in the root or in a subdirectory like www.xxx.com/forums/?

2) Did an .htaccess file already exist or are you creating it new now?

joeychgo 05-15-2013 04:03 PM

<a href="http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/forum/forum.php" target="_blank">http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/forum/forum.php</a>

I have an htaccess in the domain root, but not the forum directory, so I would be creating one.

Its important to note again. The htaccess in the domain root has redirects in it. The site used to be in the domain root, now its in the /forum/ directory, and those redirects are 301s to bring things from the old structure to the new.

I suspect that's the problem.

You are correct it is probably related to the root .htaccess redirects.

Try these two options (separately):

1) Try adding: "RewriteBase /forum" above the RewriteRule in your forum .htaccess

2. Try adding this above all your redirect rules in your website root: RewriteRule ^forum/((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ forum/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

joeychgo 05-15-2013 04:55 PM

Let me recommend one other thing. Renaming forum.php to index.php. Then change the setting in Forums Home: Options - Script Name for Forum Home Page to also reflect this change. This way you can just direct users to http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/forum/

joeychgo 05-15-2013 07:27 PM

Yeah, was thinking about that myself

Hi Guys, I have a very strange problem going on with vbseo.
Every day vbseo submits my sitemap. Because the sitemap is huge for my board. The rankings of the major new threads drop everyday.

May be google indexes them again and till the indexing is going on the rank is drop by a huge number.

I cant figure out what to do.

Please help.

final kaoss 05-30-2013 06:27 PM

Unless you've made major changes to the url structure or have a low index rate than you don't need to worry about using this tool.

TheInsaneManiac 06-05-2013 04:29 AM

Is anyone else experiencing a Database error when running the generator manually? I've looks in the logs, looks like even though its scheduled it also has not had a generation successfully go through since March. I pressed ctrl U and it did not display an error in the source.

ymcus 06-08-2013 03:26 PM

i am using vbseo sitemap generator without using vbseo and it does not create sitemap properly it showing that it has created sitemap but the link shows 404 not found page

humb 06-09-2013 03:08 PM

The same place it goes if done by cron job. By default to your forum root directory or it can be changed in the options.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2013/06/15.jpg

bosanci28 06-17-2013 05:54 PM

i check few times in root directory but there was nothing there, after about 3 times i have clicked to generate manually , i did not used any cron job.

and in that box i did put my forum link http://www.wsogroupbuy.com

now in root .htaccess i have this:

Code:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^wsogroupbuy\.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.wsogroupbuy\.com$
RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/wsogroupbuy\.com\/forum\.php" [R=301,L]

maybe i need to take this : /forum\ out from there?

all forum files are directly in root.

thank you,

I tried to test the sitemap on your site but it appears your site is not live currently.

The only line in your htaccess that has to do with the vBSEO Sitemap is this one:

Code:

RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
and it appears correct.

Edit:

Your site has some major speed problems and I believe it may at least be partially related to this line in your .htaccess:

Code:

RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/wsogroupbuy\.com\/forum\.php" [R=301,L]
What are you actually trying to do? Route it so that anyone that goes to www.wsogroupbuy.com gets sent to www.wsogroupbuy.com/forum.php?

bosanci28 06-17-2013 06:53 PM

o yes, i forgot , i did add in host to redirect from http://www.wsogroupbuy.com to http://www.wsogroupbuy.com/forum.php is before it was going to the : http://wsogroupbuy.com/activity.php and i wanted to go directly to forum ,and not to activity .

so you think this line:

Code:

RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/wsogroupbuy\.com\/forum\.php" [R=301,L]
is not right ,do i need to change anything?

thank you,

Well, it is not wrong but you will be sharing SEO weight between wsogroupbuy.com and wsogroupbuy.com/forum.php.

I personally would do this:
1) Rename what is currently index.php in your root folder to index.php_old
2) Rename forum.php to index.php
3) Change the script name setting in vB options from "forum" to "index". (see image below)
4) Remove the last 3 lines from your .htaccess file (all that should remain after are the Rewrite engine on and the sitemap line).

With these changes I'm not sure if you noticed but your site is now lightning fast compared to before!

As far as the sitemap goes the main file to access the sitemaps should be in the root (the actual data is located where you mentioned, but this is not where you should point google or bing etc.).

I would remove the web address you put into this:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2013/06/15.jpg

leave it blank and it should work correctly. Currently it is not.

bosanci28 06-18-2013 01:56 PM

yes,i have notice that is loading really fast now...

and that link was taking out from there.

now,i notice after renaming the forum to index ,when i go on main site to http://www.wsogroupbuy.com all is fine, but if i click tab "forum" is going to error page ,i think i need to rename from forum to index that tab ,somewhere in options i think,i have to find it.

http://wsogroupbuy.com/forum.php

thank you,

update, fixed it!

found it in options/navigation manager, then edit the forum tab:

from:

Code:

forum.php{session.sessionurl_q}
to
Code:

index.php{session.sessionurl_q}
and it works now,

thank you for all your help.

I still can't access your sitemap, did you put it in a different location than the default?

bosanci28 06-18-2013 05:55 PM

all the generated zips are here:

Code:

/wsogroupbuy.com/vbseo_sitemap/data/
also in the same folder i have a .htaccess:
deny from all

in .htaccess (root) i have only this:

Code:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ http://www.wsogroupbuy.com/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

Something still isn't quite right. What are the names of the files being created in the vbseo_sitemap/data folder?

Do we need it for 4.2.1 as I can see the option by default?

I was going to ask; how is this any different from the XML Sitemap function built in vB?

They are similar but this mod offers quite a few more options ....

Reports List
The 'Show Reports List' link will display a report of each time your vBSEO Sitemap generator executed, including the (1) date, (2) run time, (3) total URLs included, and (4) and change in # of URLs included from the last generation.
Each vBSEO Sitemap generation record will include a (1) "View details" and (2) "Remove record" link. The "View Details" link shows more detailed information about the sitemap generated. The "Remove record" will permanently delete the record from your reports.
Downloads Log
The 'Show Sitemap Downloads Log' link will display a report of each time your vBSEO Sitemap was downloaded by either a search engine (Identified by the Bot's name) or by another user agent (i.e. Web browser, etc.).
The report includes the (1) date, (2) name of sitemap file downloaded, (3) Bot, (4) IP address of the downloader, and the (5) User-agent.
Each vBSEO Sitemap download record will include a "Remove record" link which will permanently delete the record from your reports.
Search Engine Bots Activity Log
Use it to track Search engine activity on your sitemaps. This area displays how often, and what volume of pages search engines visit your site on a daily basis.
Custom Pages / Extra URLs
The ability to add additional urls to the sitemap that are not native to vBulletin. For example any custom pages you have created or custom mods you have added.
Automatic Notification to Search Engines
Auto-notifies Search Engines when a new sitemap is generated (optional). Currently works for notifying both Google and Bing.
There are probably others points also but these 5 items stand out as either not offered at all with the built in vB xml sitemap system or not nearly as robust and in-depth.

Kirk93 07-04-2013 07:57 PM

Thank you for the information. :)

I decided to disable the default one and use this.

Please tell me; do I need to manually add the sitemap to my webmasters account as well? If so, which file do I submit?

I was previously using the four sitemaps generated by vBulletin.

You don't have to submit it, but I recommend you do. If submitted the search engines will show you how many submitted links are indexed versus the total links submitted.

You only need to submit the index sitemap the search engines will be able to crawl the rest from there. Your submitted sitemap link should look something like: http://www.yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz

You should also place it in robots.txt so other crawlers and smaller search engines can also find it. I place it in the top line, but you can place anywhere. The line in robots.txt should look like:

Code:

Sitemap: http://www.yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Ball bags. Don't expect support from the useless pricks, they don't even give their paying customers support.
