The way you have your Categories/Forums set up half way down the site is really strange to say the least, nothing like most of us, including vBulletin.com, have ours set up.
Check you 'depths' of the Forums in the Options setting in the admin panel, this is why Sub Forum don't show, you have to get the number set right. |
At any rate you can see that the mod does in fact work for sub forums, correct?
And like I said the site is in the process of being developed. |
If you go and make a Sub Forum for say your: This week's poll question
forum, then try to add an icon you will see what we're talking about. |

Check out vbulletin .com then set your SubForums the same as that, the normal way, then you will see what we all mean. |
Yes, but if you set your parent forum up as a category by saying "no" to the "act like a forum" question then it sets the parent as a true category section and then the mod works for any forums and sub forums in that category

The help text for "act like a forum" is as follows:
Act as Forum If you set this to No, this forum will act as a category (that is, a non-posting forum that only exists to group other forums). This is how you really set up a forum category This also provides the ability to collapse a forum category and it's forums & sub forms. This allows your visitors to ignore the forums that don't interest them. |
The top half of your site is set up in the normal way, the other half set up in a way really wrong, or totally different than nearly every vb user.
I have been using, installing and posting with vb software for over 4 years, and I have never seen a main Forum set up the way you have yours set up DS That is up to you, it's your Forum, I am just saying what a lot of us have been on about with the Sub Forum icons not showing is correct, not matter what it shows on the way you set yours up as. Again, thanks for the PM and the link to your site, it was defiantly interesting to see it set up that way, although I'd not be copying that way of a set up..lol. |
To each his own. Hey, did you try the player?

One last thing and I will stop boring everyone with this:
If you check the 3rd and 4th screen shot that Dark_Wizard provides for the mod you will see that he set up the category forum exactly like I did where it appears as a section ("This section contains....). So if my layout is "wrong" then his must be "wrong" as well. Try to keep an open mind. There are more ways to set up a site then your way. Don't ridicule others just because you don't agree with them. |
DS, I know its up to everyone to set up a vb forum how they want, and I am not ridiculing you or your site.
As for the screen shots from DW, they show the same as how most vB forums are set up, your bottom half of your Forum isn't set up like his screen shots. As for the Player you have in the sidebar, really nice work mate. |
Thank you. I'm glad you like the player. I'm in the process of loading it and am at about 200 entries so far from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
My daughter is going to make the selections from the 90's to today because she's the expert for that time frame. It cost me a lot of $$$ for the license from BMI and ASCAP to use all of that material. It's going to be another few weeks before I'm done. |
anyone test "Forum Category Icons" on vbulletin 4.2 ?
|
Works fine part from the Sub Forums, tested it on 4.2.0 already.

Strange that a coder can't get it to work for sub-forums. Not a bash but it has been awhile for this up-date. I started this thread from the last few pages and New Joe your right on. Enough said but it would be nice to have my sub-forum icons back. Thanks
|
I'm sure a coder could if he wanted to. But is is better the wait for Bob to handle things as it is his mod. Being it is a free mod, I'm sure he has other commitments that must come before this.
|
Has there been any updates to this mod? (sub-forums)
|
My category items are not being resized.Any clue how to fix it?
Live Demo: http://forum.elitegamers.co/ |
This works great for me on 4.2.0. It resizes the images in my subforums just fine. The only issue I do seem to be having is that it won't change the icon for just two forums I have as links. The other links I have has changed but, for some reason, those other two won't.
|
Ok, as I will be upgrading to 4.2.0 and this mod will save me so much time for the images if it worked with Sub Forums as it did before 4.1.10
I will pay $15 so anyone who can get this modification to work as per it should. PM me for more info. And if any other members are up for it, I say all pay $15 to the person who sorts it out. I would be up for donating $15 to DW if he would update this mod, and if he does before anyone PMs me, I will donate right away to him. |
edit: nm I got it. THANKS
