I get a 404 when clicking on the View Chatroom Access List link for /vbshout.php which doesn't exist (VB 4.0.7)

DragonByte Tech 09-28-2010 12:54 PM

Are you sure you've uploaded the vbshout.php file correctly?

I'm having problems with sound not working. No <embed in the page soruce but everything is set.

I noticed this line in the template

PHP Code:

<vb:if condition="$instance['shoutsound'] AND $bbuserinfo['dbtech_vbshout_settings'] & 16384"

I looked in the database table 'user' at the dbtech_vbshout_settings field and is NULL. Could that be the problem?

Do you use some form of special characters in your designation of hours?
I'll try to fix this for the next version, it'd be helpful if I can see the string how it's supposed to look - and please, copy/paste it in a post here instead of a screenshot, that lets me test it to confirm it's been fixed :)

I have no idea why that was in my post in place of what I actually wrote O.o

What I wrote originally was: "Yeah that could be it, try removing that part of the if condition".
Sorry about that :(

kotlt99 10-02-2010 01:24 PM

I don't want unregistered member and guest to view shoutbox, how to do that?
And how to erase all log ? I see /prune can only clear, not delete forever

DragonByte Tech 10-02-2010 01:33 PM

/prune does delete.

You can control access permissions via the Edit Permissions link in Instance Management.

Hope that helps :)

I tried to do what Reks explained in https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=443 and did change "define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'test');" to "define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'chat');" (like you pointed out in the quoted posting).

But all i get is white page. :(

Hey,

we installed this Shoutbox at http://forum.gratis-mmorpg.com and I would like to re-design a little bit.

I would like to have the shoutarea to enter your text right of the "font-pick"-option, couldn't find an option for this - also in the variables is no opton available to set the shoutbox from _left to _below or something like that.

If you could give me a hint would be awesome.

Kind regards

If THIS_SCRIPT is "chat", then fill that out in the deployment field as per the edit instance page.

Moving the shout area below is a Pro-only feature.
Other template edits and such are not something we're able to support, unfortunately :(

Hm, k, then I'll edit the source on my own, it's not that it's 2 complex, thought I could safe 30 mins of work.

See ya

haidm 10-10-2010 03:15 AM

Uhm, how can I change the defaut font size in chatbox? (Larger)

DragonByte Tech 10-10-2010 03:14 PM

It uses vBulletin's default font size, changing the font size on a per-user basis is a Pro-only feature :)

I am having a weird error I hope you can help me fix. When I click on a user in the SB I get the options box half way down the screen and not next to the username like it should be.

I have attached a SS for you to see.

DragonByte Tech 10-12-2010 10:31 PM

From the knowledge we have atm, that's sadly not possible to fix. Some skins implement behaviour that breaks JavaScript functionality, and as such we have no way of knowing how to position the box.

If you look at it on a default (unmodified) style, you'll see it works fine.

We'll be re-visiting this in the future, but for now there's nothing that can be done :(

Ok and thank you for the quick reply.

DemoniK_AK 10-20-2010 02:11 PM

Hi
First off - excellent Mod. Installed it on our vbulletin installation and it's mostly working ok..
I've managed a few template changes to do what I want to it, but one thing keeps bugging me.

I have the text entry below the shoutlist.
I'd like to have the display order set to Oldest First.
However in doing that the shoutbox snaps to the bottom on every post or refresh, not giving users time to scroll back through the shouts. Happens in Firefox, IE7, IE8 and Chromium.

This happens on the default style as well as our modified one.
website is http://www.ak47ps3.com/forums

I looked through the vbshout.js and commenting out the scrollBottom() function stops it scrolling down, but also prevents it snapping to bottom on initial load :(

I suspect the issue is ajax_completed() is just snapping to the bottom no matter what and would be better if there was a way to detect this was a first load of a chat area or a refresh.
I looked to see if I could spot a hook where I could force a snap on initial load of a room - but it didn't stand out for me, and I though I should ask here first rather than pushing around in the code and making it 100 times worse :(

Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

DragonByte Tech 10-22-2010 06:35 PM

But if it didn't snap to the bottom, users would need to scroll through every shout in order to read the newest one O.o
It only snaps if the user hasn't manually moved the scroll bar, so if users are currently in the process of reading shouts, they won't lose their place in the conversation :)

Provided I understood you correctly, that's not an option that'll be offered, sorry.

Thanks for the great addon.

DragonByte Tech 10-22-2010 10:07 PM

Due to AJAX security implementation, it's currently not possible to call AJAX requests to other domains.

Your forum / server seem to be set up in the belief that "randomforumname.co.uk" is the "real" domain and as such, it tries to send requests to that domain.

I sadly have no knowledge in how to solve such a configuration problem :(

Apologies if I wasn't clear - not asking for a new feature...

I agree it needs to snap to the bottom - but if the user has moved the scroll bar it (currently) will also snap every refresh or new post.

The overall intent is right - but there appears to be a bug on the refresh IF the scroll bar has been moved, i.e. scroll position is not the end of the shoutbox.

To reproduce I have the shoutbox refreshing every 5s and set to 40 shouts. I don't have enough time to scroll (and read) through the current shouts before a refresh happens and I'm snapped back to the bottom.

midnz 10-27-2010 03:23 AM

Using version 5.3.1 on 4.0.8.
When using the shoutbox on a style generated using the Style Generator, the font colour on the tabs makes it difficult to read (see image below). Would you please save me a few hours and tell me where to make the appropriate edit?

Any idea what could be causing this? It doesn't get any further than this and doesn't appear in the list of installed mods either;

Hi guys,

I have an Admin/Chatbox Manager that is currently unable to view the chat box (perpetual loading screen) on his desktop (Win7/IE8) but can do no problems from his laptop (Vista/IE7?). Unfortunately his laptop is bugging out on him for other reasons and needs to be able to rely on his desktop. Any ideas what the problem could be?

So far I've ... Reinstalled vBShout (5.3.1), returned to default option placement, to no effect. I've also cleared the server side Cache. The member is using default options of IE, and no other users have reported a problem that wasn't solved by clearing Client side Cache.

Server is running PHP v5.2.14 & MySQL Version v5.0.91-community.

What else should I try?

Also on a different note; IE9 is showin posts oddly

That's a bug in the browser if so, because I know at least Firefox 3.6 doesn't exhibit this behaviour, and scrollbar manipulation is something that each browser handles very differently so it would be impossible to fix.

I believe the .alt2 CSS definition in dbtech_vbshout_colours.css is the appropriate place to edit :)

Maybe your user table is large and it's trying to edit that, or your server's silently failed..? I'm afraid I can't offer any other guesses :(
