Do you guys know if this works on 3.8 ?

or is there an alternative hack that works on 3.8?

HossMon 01-24-2009 04:22 PM

Has anyone else experienced very high server loads with this enabled on v3.6.9?

I'm running CentOS 5 on a Dual Xeon Cpanel server
PHP 4.4.8
MySQL 4.1.22
XCache 1.22 with XCache Datastore caching enabled via another Mod

And it drove the mysqld process's through the roof!
Server loads jumped from 0.50 to 3.00-5.00 and even as high as 7.18 until I disabled the Mod.

I tried disabling XCache and reenabled eAccelerator. No joy
Disabled the Datastore caching, same result.

Any help greatly appreciated :)
I really need this feature badly.

BTW - It does not matter if I have a thread setup to be 'Force Read' or not. Server loads rise the same.

WATRD 01-27-2009 08:09 PM

It works great for me, as long as I have it selected for all forums. If I specifically target a single forum, the user is asked to read the notice each time they visit that forum. Over and over again.

RoxyTheImpreza 01-29-2009 07:22 PM

is there a way to force guests to have to read the topic?

HossMon 02-04-2009 02:05 AM

Yes it has the option to enable or disable whether guests are included or not.

mdrs2 02-24-2009 12:34 AM

what's this Option ? "Force Read Order" (it's under ThreadID)

what value i should to put here ? the default is 10

what's deferent between 10 & 20 ?

tell me as good as possible Please

Thank's

Anyone have any problems with this mod not allowing members to log in to the site? I used the 3.7 version and numerous people could not log in to the site until I disabled it.

Any known product conflicts? I really want to use this mod.

The older version of this mod worked nicely, but when I upgraded to the most recent version I had the same issue as you on my 3.6.12 board. I've uninstalled it due to this.

Older version as in this one or one previous to this?

The one previous to this, unfortunately I didn't save the zip file of the previous version so I had to uninstall the hack completely, don't know if the author or anyone else still has the previous version.

FCS-Webmaster 07-29-2009 08:49 PM

Dear Author,

I installed the hack and it works proper like it should.
Thanks for your great afford and work for this community.

Anyone out there who can help me to make a little workaround?
I want to have the option to force user to read it when I do create a thread and not to have to go to the ACP

I have a little imagination about it:
Pseudo Code Start
if conditional groupid (there we go and place admins and mods groupid)
Checkbox for "Force User to Read" & dropdown to check the groups to force
if end
Pseudo Code End

Anyone out there who can help me a little further?
We do have 3 Admins, 3 Coaches and 5 from Orga who sould be able to use the function without having (all of them) permission to the ACP and it seems to be quite more comfortable for me.

Thnx in advantage

FCS-Webmaster 08-05-2009 08:41 PM

Sadly no reaction seems to be no interests in going to the top with this module.
Uninstalled ~ to long-winded. sadly :-(

missty72 08-11-2009 03:39 PM

bigmonay2k 08-27-2009 02:22 AM

Well atleast I know it is not just me that has the problem. I would really like to use this mod since it would be great for my site but its stinks that it shuts the site down.

Duncan Idaha 09-30-2009 02:16 PM

Installed the hack, and got the message it is installed. It shows up in the product manager, I have it in the VBulletin options, and the plugin is "active'

However, I do not get that extra tab in the collumn underneath "threads and posts" that enables me to force members to read a thread. What is wrong and how can I remedie it?

I use VBulletin 3.8.2

You have to go to the Admin cp to use it, bit of a schlep really as you have to know the thread ID before you do that.:(

Thanks, but that is the problem: in the AdminCP I do not get that option. I have tried both versions of the hack, and it says they are active, I have it in the VBullletin options, but I cannot get the encircled option in the threadstab.

boggseric 11-29-2009 12:12 AM

Installed it on my 3.8.4p1 and my server load went through the roof to the point where the board stopped responding. Once I disabled this mod the load went right back down to normal. I only have 4 other mods installed (mobile detection, threadban user, phpadsnew and vipers youtube hack).

MikeWarner 12-05-2009 09:20 AM

Edit - posted to 3.7 version instead.

viganothing 01-08-2010 09:24 PM

is there going to be a release for vb 4.0 ?

DannyITR 01-08-2010 09:33 PM

This hack slowed my forum to the point of being unusable. I never ended up using it. Do other people not have this problem?

taffy056 01-13-2010 02:26 PM

actually the 3.7 version did work in 4.0 , but now that 4.0.1 is out, it makes the cms become a white page, its a shame, hope this gets ported properly

Leo Brazil 01-18-2010 12:43 PM

This one is very usefull for sure, I hope to see it ported to 4.0

InsomniacP 01-18-2010 05:06 PM

Would be great to see this up dated for 4.0 please?

absy 01-19-2010 11:55 AM

It did work before the 4.0.1 update is anyone working on this mod please?

muonlinemexico 03-24-2010 02:26 PM

ewebdesigner 06-25-2011 09:41 PM

Do not use in 4.1.4

It will cause your user profiles to mess up and the blog. Just letting everyone know. This is what happened to me.

Maybe thats because its not for 4.1.4, nothing from the 3.8 series will work with 4.0 series...maybe you should write a tutorial on that.

ewebdesigner 06-26-2011 03:57 AM

There is no reason to be a smart ass. I was just saying so people do not use it. I forgot to look at the versions etc. Was in a hurry and needed this. I think you should write a tutorial on being an ass hole.

flewfruit 07-01-2011 06:55 PM

thanks , very hot

damien3877 02-09-2012 02:14 AM

I have it installed but when I try to create a thread, it doesn't show? Like, I click "save" and everything...

BorcoBaby 02-15-2012 12:07 AM

yeah i have the same issue as damien3877. It wont save.
