Yes, it should still work with 3.5.

Phaedrus 03-07-2009 04:20 AM

Are all the avatars white people?

and

What if people want to upload their own, is that option still available?

There are various avatar packs you can download:
http://www.livingavatars.com/avatar_packs

Yes, the option of creating/uploading/downloading packs is still available.

Almost all hosting companies have GD2 enabled by default. If not then you'll have to contact your hosting company and tell them you want GD2 enabled on your server, it will only take them a minute to do.

i am moving my server few days ago

now i have problem in living avatars hack, i had chmod avatars folder to 777

everytime member change they living avatars, they get this message, but the avatars is changed, its working but only get this warning :

Warning: imagepng() [function.imagepng]: Unable to open '../avatars/la_123.png' for writing: Permission denied in /home/myaccount/public_html/living_avatars/includes/saveavatar.php on line 176
Avatar Saved

from the error message its say cant write the past avatar
the error only showing to member that register and using living avatars before my server move up, new member not get that message

so to repair it i change to CHMOD 666 all la_*.png avatar files, then the error never came again

how about you guys my fixing above, is it save or not, or is there other options, again i had chmod avatars folder to 777 before

You don't have GD2 installed, ask your server admin (hosting company) to install it.

I had the same problem when I moved livingavatars.com to a new server. Just chmod all the avatars in the the 'avatars' folder to 777 and you'll be fine. All future users/avatars will be fine as well.

thanks for a quick reply, get it working now
this mod rocks

btw: whoever have the same problem, usually the GD2 on a share server is not activated, the already there. so all you need to to is to activate it. just go in to the php.ini (in the php configuration) and enable it

I love this mod. I thought I would share some of the avatars I've built for myself so far.

BTW: A way to store and retrieve avatars would be nice, so I don't have to keep rebuilding ones I've already built when I want to switch back.

Can you give an example of a method that would work for you?

subduck 03-10-2009 11:59 PM

Version 1.2.1 is out:
http://www.livingavatars.com/forum/s...=9757#post9757

It's a minor update that fixes a few bugs. Not major enough to release it here.

All the layout information is obviously saved, because when I go back to my living avatar I can edit it. So I guess it would be as simple as a 'save layout' button They could then appear in a saved layouts folder, where you could 'load' them, or delete them, with a thumbnail next to them. It's just using already existing code - except for the ability to store more than one layout per user.

hambil 03-11-2009 02:24 AM

The ability to sell, or scrap parts would be great, too. I've installed all the avatar packs off your site, and some have poorly done graphics (though most are fantastic). I have parts in my inventory I want to get rid of :)

One more thing: A clear button would be nice, so I don't have to remove the parts of my living avatar one at a time when I decide to create a new one.

Let me state again, I love this mod. These are not complaints. I could not recommend enough for anyone to install this. I've got it hooked into my vbCredits and loaded with images and it's fantastic. I've also used the other mod on here that integrates it into vBulletin. Great stuff, great work.

How do you get it to use your vbCredits ??? I was just fixing to ask this question ...

Just installed it, went smoothly, and I LOVE IT!!!! I hope my members do too !!!

Bulldog Stang 03-11-2009 07:34 AM

One thing though. I do not see it in my Admin CP. I did not see anything that said to integrate to vb ...

trickfly 03-11-2009 11:51 AM

hello, thanks for this great mod,
livingavatar will replace all current avatars to this livingavatar right?
can we have the original avatar, and also living avatar as well in showthread both of them?
so nothing change with the original avatar, but include only the new livingavatar into showthread

Bulldog Stang 03-11-2009 11:48 PM

My Members are getting an error when they try to save their avatar ...

Here is the error:
Warning: imagegif() [function.imagegif]: Unable to open '../..//home/xxxxxxx/public_html/forums/customavatars/avatar1069_21.gif' for writing in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/forums/living_avatars/includes/save_avatar.php on line 282

I tried to save one as well and I got the same error ...

Warning: imagegif() [function.imagegif]: Unable to open '../..//home/xxxxxxx/public_html/forums/customavatars/avatar80_60.gif' for writing in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/forums/living_avatars/includes/save_avatar.php on line 282

Help ?

tommac3 03-12-2009 03:32 AM

Request to use standard navbar etc ... even when building the avatar. I didnt see the return to forums link ... It would be nice if it was more obvious or use the standard navbar and headers.

I warn you, those instructions are old and don't work, but make for a good template to do the work. I'd recommend you have someone tech savvy do this for you.

Integrating Living Avatars with vBulletin

Note that Living Avatar 'integrates' with vBulletin just fine, but it uses it's own pages. The above mod puts it inside your header and foot and gets it to use your colors.

Bulldog Stang 03-12-2009 07:36 AM

Thanks Hambil .. now only if I could get the darn things to save ... LOL I dont know what is going on ... (See Above Post) .. I have done CHMOD to 777 to the avatars folder so I dont know why it is not saving it ..

Create a new account on your forum and try creating a Living Avatar, do you still get an error? If it works then do this:

"I had the same problem when I moved my Living Avatars installation to a different server, what I had to do was chmod all the avatars in the avatars folder to 777."

Adromir 03-12-2009 06:11 PM

Just a simple Question: Will users just be able to choose Living Avatars, or can they still choose their own?

It's just another avatar choice, it doesn't take away anything they already have.,

Adromir 03-12-2009 07:16 PM

yes thanks, but will they still have the ability to chose other avatars? I mean new Members or when they want their old avatar back

Yes, this is an addon, it doesn't replace what you already have.

subduck 03-17-2009 07:38 PM

I've never installed/used vbcredits, if you give me a link then i'll try to update Living Avatars to enable integration with it.
