Is there something that i need to enable / do to have the SEO changed URLs wrapped in vbAdvanced also ?
http://dramaloot.com/forum.php works fine

Clicking on a link takes me to
http://dramaloot.com/news-f31.html?f=31 (note the ?f=31 )
http://dramaloot.com/illidian-down-t2071.html
Neither are wrapped in vbAdvanced

(Note that the forums above do not have SEO Enabled until this matter is fixed).

Thanks

That all links that are listed in google redirect to right thread.

Rename old forum directory and create a new one with the same name (forum_old, forum)

Create a file named "redirector.php" in the new directory with the following code:
Code:

<?
$url=$_SERVER[’REQUEST_URI’]);
$old_forum_url="http://www.oldurl.com/forums/";
$new_forum_url="http://www.newurl.com/forums/";

$url=str_replace ( $old_forum_url, $new_forum_url, $url );
header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );
header( "Location: $url" );
?>

Create a .htaccess file in the new directory with this code:
Code:

ErrorDocument 404 redirector.php

Not at all! :)

expatdirectory 12-02-2007 12:48 PM

Uploaded, looks good but

when I click on the sitemap, it only display the top forum, when I click on this I get a 404 error. This may be down to regeneration so I will check back later.

Also, the sitemap shows private hidden forums... Not always the best idea :rolleyes:

yathyo 12-02-2007 03:44 PM

If you are not logged in you will not see this forums

That was the first thing I checked. Even logged out it was showing my private forums.

I have hidden them until I can work out the problem.

I still cant get the site map to work properly though, generates a 404 whenever your click on a link.

my sitemap is here if you want to have a look.

I am wondering whether I have a bad install.

profanitytalker 12-07-2007 11:23 AM

*Installed* Best free seo product ever and can compete with vbseo. Thanks!

alexgeek 12-12-2007 06:24 PM

I have a problem!
My site: Unmoderated Forums
As you can see if you click the sitemap URL (/sitemap/ - it generates a 404 page.
If you visit /sitemap/index.php though, the page appears!
What's wrong?
Thanks

And this is my htaccess:
Code:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on

RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(f|all)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ forumdisplay.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(t|p)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ showthread.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(index\.php|\.css) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(archive|sitemap)/(.*)$ $1/index.php/$2 [QSA,L]

alexgeek 12-13-2007 08:43 PM

okay I load the page now
I use this Htaccess.
Code:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on

RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(f|all)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ forumdisplay.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(t|p)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ showthread.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(archive|sitemap)/(.*)$ /sitemap/index.php/$2 [L]

But none of the links work.
They are reqritten like so: /sitemap/staff-section-f13.html
This generates a 404. I don't see any rewrites for the sitemap/archive in the zoints htaccess!
Will I have to write my own? Please help!

alexgeek 12-13-2007 09:09 PM

Seriously I really need help with this.
This is destroying my SEO.
I've been trying to write my own htaccess to get this to work but I can't.
What are everyone's settings for archive page navigation and all other options for archives?
Please!!

I'll even take a way to disable rewrites on the archive!

bklynjava 12-17-2007 11:25 PM

Has anyone tried with vb3.6.8?

djbaxter 12-18-2007 01:11 AM

1. Don't use mod_rewrite. You don't need it. It puts an extra load on your server and provides no SEO benefits whatsoever.

2. Don't use the archive as a sitemap. Set it so that the links in the archive lead back to the original posts.

3. It works fine on 3.6.8.

Thanks for the info.

I keep getting the infamous ---> "No input file specified"

I read a few posts that say Godaddy is the problem, is there a solution to this?

Marc.F 12-18-2007 03:37 PM

I have a problem that when I try to log in at the index, it doesn't recogise it although when i click on a link to another area, It does. This must be a problem with this tool or vBulletin 3.6.8. Also, the archive doesn't work: http://www.webtutorialz.com/forum/archive/index.php.

I need to use mod_rewrite for SEO don't I?

How can I set it so that the links lead back to the original posts? Will this fix the archive links not working? :S

jbekas 12-20-2007 03:19 AM

vBulletin 3.6.8 (patch 2)
Zoints SEO 2.2.2

It sounds like others are having the same problem as me:
1) Cannot get rid of index.php with or without mod_rewrite
2) Archive/sitemap gives "No input file specified" if you just hit /archive/ or /sitemap/
3) If you go to /archive/index.php or /sitemap/index.php you get the main forum list, but the links just regenerate the same page.

Anyone making progress on this?

I'd love to help fix it, but I just installed everything and have never seen it working properly. Not sure where/when the problem was introduced.

mattonline 12-20-2007 10:26 AM

Having trouble on this one a little, i had it installed before worked fine

but i reinstalled my forum and cleaned the sql out a bit and not im getting an error, which is attached...

Here is a mod_rewrite rules that work for lighttpd

PHP Code:

url.rewrite = (
"^/([a-z0-9_\-]*-(f|all)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html).*$" => "/forumdisplay.php",
"^/([a-z0-9_\-]*-(t|p)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html).*$" => "/showthread.php",
"^/archive/(.*)-(f|t|p|all)([0-9]+).html$"=> "/archive/index.php?$2-$3.html"

bxbigt 02-02-2008 09:40 PM

DrKNickel 02-06-2008 12:15 PM

Heyho everyone!

I am thinking about installing it, too.

What experiences have you made with the mod?

Does it work with the vbSEO Sitemap generator?

Does it work with vbulletin 3.7?

So many questions :)

Greets

bxbigt 02-07-2008 05:46 AM

feverhost 02-13-2008 06:43 PM

I'm test for 3.7.0.
No problem and work.

soundbarrierpro 03-25-2008 12:06 AM

Ok, so I want to drive more traffic to my site. I'm currently using vbSEO and the vbSEO sitemap generator. I haven't seen any marked difference. Most of my traffic comes from word of mouth through the channels I'm involved in hockey fights.

So the big question. Do I need to uninstall vbseo and it's accompanying plugins in order to use this? Since I'm not super advanced, can I just set the setting exactly how they are set in these screenshots? I really really really want to drive more traffic. Thanks

mariocaz 03-25-2008 01:35 AM

Turn off "rewrite URL".

vBulletin doesn't need URL rewrites. It's a waste of resources to enable it.

GoTTi 04-08-2008 03:55 PM

this mod is NOT working correctly for vb 3.7.0 RC2. it is disabling some template editing features, like i can not edit and save the SHOWTHREAD template when this mod is enabled.

do not use on vb 3.7.0 RC2 untill fix is provided.
