Version 3.52 is released.

This splits the No Access (Banned) permission into two separate permissions - see post #597 for full details of the problem this fixes.

The same as if you were installing it - upload the two files and import the product.

Bree 03-13-2007 12:41 AM

Correct.

dcpaq2xx 03-13-2007 02:33 PM

Mine tells me incorrect user name or password when I have it set all user groups to no except for the user level and the banned from chat.

When I set them all to no, just the background image shows and nothing else.

And when all are set to no except for user level access, the chat works as normal.

Something doesnt seem to be working right here...

Doug

To save me from having to look through 40+ pages I am going to ask.

First love the add-on thanks for creating it!

Is there a way to say have the Flashchat at the top 1/4 of page and forums below it?

Awesome, it works!

Thanks Paul!

Then it sounds like a Flashchat issue which is out of scope for this mod - you need to ask on the Tufat forums - However, I would suggest you check what prefix have you defined for Flashchat to use (in config.srv.php).
I tried several installations with different prefixes like fc_ or flashchat_ with same results.
The installation reads existing fc tables (without a users table!) properly but in usage it will try to read the (not installed) fc_users table.
I dropped the existing tables and made a fresh install but also with same result: FC creates the required tables (no fc_users table!) but tries to read from its own (not available) users table.

I will have a look for solution on this @ tufat...

Installed and works like a charm! Many many thanks Paul M!

Is there any way to set this to open in a new small window so my users can Post and Chat at the same time? I have tried a couple ways and it does not work. I am no expert though. That is the only complaint, if you can call it one, that I have received.

Go to your navbar template and find:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="faq.php$session[sessionurl_q]" accesskey="5">$vbphrase[faq]</a></td>

Then place this underneath:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a target="_blank" href="http://yourwebsite/forum/chat/flashchat.php?$session[sessionurl]">Chat</a></td>

(make sure the path is right for your site)

this will place the chat link in the navbar beside FAQ's. You can plug it in anywhere you want of course. It will open the chat in a new window, and from there your users can re-size..minimize etc.

Don't forget to go to vbulletin options/flashchat integration and disable the "automatic link creation" or you will have doubles.

The Bish 03-14-2007 04:16 PM

Damn had the target="_blank" oin the wrong spot! Thank you!!

One other thing... I have it on my vBAdvanced screen as follows... how would I update this link to Chat in a new window?

Code:

<tr><td bgcolor="#c2d6a7" width="100%" onclick="window.location='misc.php?do=flashchat'" style="cursor:pointer; background-color:#c2d6a7" onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#b2c599';" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#c2d6a7';"><span class="portalnav">Chat</span></td></tr>
http://prosper-living.com

Thanks again!

dbirosel 03-17-2007 12:22 AM

I have a feeling it's not possible, but it shouldn't hurt to ask. When they leave the chatroom, is it possible to have the remaining chat history left upon? So when they come back or accidently leave, they will still what people talked about in the chat?

Dream 03-17-2007 01:06 AM

Can this be put in a box in forum home?

Installed anyway. I still wanna know if you can put FlashChat in a box in forum home.

Yes can we have it where you have say chat on top and you forums below?

Dream 03-17-2007 02:59 AM

Put in your install.txt a warning for people to not edit the local config.php and ovewrite the one the FlashChat installation made.

Also there are a bunch of CVS folders in your zip.

edit: Thanks for the mod.

True, but they are empty, just delete/ignore them.

gobears20 03-17-2007 02:26 PM

I got it installed and working. Thanks!

I know what Dream means. He/She means, tell people that they need to first *download* the config file that was altered by the installation of FC *before* editing it and reuploading it for this mod. I made that mistake myself, but I frankly chalked it up to...well, stupidity on my part. I should have known better.

Paul M 03-18-2007 08:51 PM

That's basic to any file edit, I don't think I'll be adding that. :)

Hey, thanks for this but I have an additional question for you or anyone else I guess. :)

I made this change and it worked and launches FlashChat but, for some reason, it doesn't automatically pass the authentication through to FlashChat. My users are having to log in manually.

What is strange is if I use the link created by FlashChat integration in vB Options, users authenticate successfully. I like your solution because I would rather users have a seperate window but I would like the auto authentication to work as well.

Any idea what is wrong?

And thanks, Paul, for this. It's great.

daddygrim 03-18-2007 11:57 PM

can someone install mine for me?

Dream 03-19-2007 03:18 AM

People are not exiting the chat in my flashchat.

They stay in the room after closing the page.

Anyone had this problem before?

Yes, unless I am totally wrong, which with me is always a possibility. :P One possible problem could be that they have popups blocked on your site, as popups are required to fully log out of the chat. That's the first thing I would ask them, to enable popups on your site. I know there are other reasons this could happen, but that's one I know.

YEP! We're seeing the same thing on ours. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the popup which fires when a user leaves... block the popup and cause this issue perhaps?

EDIT: SORRY! Didn't see the other reply.

Check the domain in the link you created, make sure it matches the domain you normally use (exactly) (e.g. www.mysite.com, not mysite.com)

daddygrim 03-19-2007 05:07 PM

it keeps asking me to log in...i got the current version of flashchat..and when i click it..i have to keep logging in.
