Will the rating system in the next version also be the standard one (from vBulletin) ?

Not yet ;)

That's a major change, so that's something for the next big release (version 5). This is a minor new version.

@Daky: there's no ETA, normally it's arriving at the end of this week or next week (so that's a large ETA :p).

It is with downloading.
But I think I traced the problem.
I want to set the max MB's for Unregistered users.
And I think that in that case you are counting all Unregistered users to calculate the downloaded size.

Though I know that also has it's not completely reliable, that brings me to another request, what also would (partially) solve this problem:
I'd like to log the IP address if the user is unregistered. Also good to know if a user registers afterward and starts kicking trouble over downloads (like we had last weekend).

And yes, I am aware that some users do have random IP numbers everytime they log on they simply will be lucky. But for most users with DSL lines it will work, and for calculating the downloaded size it will help also, by not giving the "you have exceeded your download limit" message.

Hi peeps

Would it be possible to do a few mods to this hack please, Such as:
  • Intergrate with vBux; Say pay 10 points to download and recieve 5 points for uploading?
  • In the postbit and profile where you have put the count for the downloads and uploads, could these be links to a list of the files that have been downloaded or uploaded.
How do these sound, feasible?

I also thought about using userid but since so many sites have a small number of people uploading, that would work well. Also considered basing it off the month and day but ... again ... if someone does a mass upload to get started, that wouldn't work well.

So far, random distribution into a series of numbered sub-folders seems the best way to go.

Sounds good.

maybe alpha by filename then by folder 1-10

Actually, I already do log the IP address of users, both registered and unregistered. When the "delay time" check is conducted, the IP address is taken into consideration. I'll add that check to the max daily MB and max # of daily files check too in ver 5.0.4

Probably one of the most requested items! Maybe I can throw a few hooks into ver 5.0.4 for the vBux folks to play with.

Shazz 10-18-2006 11:15 PM

Has anyone have a ton of downloads uploaded?
Does it suck up alot of space on the database?

It doesn't suck up hardly any space in the database. The files are stored on the file system.

Is this downloads script good for VbAdvanced / Vbulletin 3.6.2? sorry im new to this and dont know what is compatible with what

Black Tiger 10-19-2006 02:03 PM

If you're new, sometimes a search will help, or looking at the previous pages.:)

Yes... it will work with VBulletin 3.6.2. and VbAdvanced, if you look at the download link you will even see that there is a special VBA addon for this one.

Sorry, but I have no idea what you are asking???

WZZZ 10-19-2006 07:27 PM

Good, I shall reconstruct a question.
I need to make domain.org/files
P.S. The forum is established domain.org/forum

Kirk Y 10-19-2006 09:38 PM

I think he's trying to say he wants to change the download directory.

WZZZ 10-20-2006 06:28 AM

On standard domain.org/forum/dowonloads.php and me it is necessary domain.org/files

Prompt, as the main variables to change (ways to a forum in a file dowonloads.php) and I shall change all rest

AdminCP -> Languages & Phrases ;)
Everything is phrased, so you can translate everything.

ThunderBeast 10-21-2006 10:10 AM

you are super!!!!!

Intex 10-21-2006 01:50 PM

I'm having problems with uploading more than 6 files. When I try to add the seventh, it simply doesn't submit and refreshes the page as if you'd just selected 'Add'.

If I get another user to try, they can add - no problems, but then they have less than 6. There are no restrictions on the uploads in either time or size allowed in a day.

Any ideas?

Update

Fixed: This was due to the PHP max post and max upload limit in the php.ini file. I was attempting to upload a file over 9MB and the max for both of those values were set to 8MB. Now working fine.

Zowners 10-21-2006 06:08 PM

is there a way to change the collapse_tcat_collapsed.gif for another image??

phill2003 10-21-2006 08:42 PM

How do i put the disclaimer in a table rather than having it just floating on the left hand side at the bottom?

lmongello 10-21-2006 09:22 PM

Forgive the stupid question here, but I'm having problems using the import function (or just don't know how to do it correctly).

I have a number of files in a domain.org/download directory that I was using for downloads. I'd like to find a way to import all of those files into the ecDL system without having to manually enter them all.

I went to the import function and entered in the path

/full/path/here/to/www/html/download/

The import file list came up blank. When i clicked import, i got:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /admincp/downloadadmin.php on line 331

I also tried dropping a couple of files into the forums/downloads dir as well, but still no luck.

OK, I know this is probably SO simple and stupid, but thanks for the help!

jerrygad 10-21-2006 11:23 PM

very nice mod. Thanks for sharing :)

It's in a phrase, just search for it and you will find the phrase.

Just find $dl->downloadsmessage in the downloads_wrapper_side template and put it in a table or move it to another place (and/or another DownloadsII template).

@lmongello: There's a bug in the import system, it will be fixed in the next release.

lmongello 10-22-2006 12:15 PM

Whew. Thanks! Thought I was stoopid and/or crazy ;)

DementedMindz 10-22-2006 07:42 PM

jelle or pointer i was wondering when i go to add a file in the part where you add a description i guess the text area is a period in there everytime now. i havent changed nothing would you know what would cause this cause all that is in there before i go to add anything is this . if i just erase it then its fine but i hate erasing it everytime. what template is that when you click add and it goes to that page?

when i look at the source before i even write anything this is how it is showing up.

Code:

<textarea name="message" id="vB_Editor_001_textarea" rows="10" cols="60" style="width:518px; height:250px" tabindex="1" dir="ltr">.</textarea>
where is this so i can edit it?

Snake 10-23-2006 02:07 AM

Is this going to work fine on v3.6.2 I wonder? Can anyone please confirm this for me? And do I've to implement any bug fixes or anything?

Lemme know!

Yes, it works fine (without any edits), it's also mentioned in the release thread ;)

@DementedMindz: that's strange, I never had such an issue. We will look into it soon.

Snake 10-23-2006 12:20 PM

Alright. Thanks for your reply! :)

Fantastic just what i needed, thank you very much for your time...

Would it be possible to implement a download limit so that you could set the amount of times a member could download in any set period (24 hours or a week or something). This i feel would complement the timed downloads but add an important feature to stop people just downloading constantly after waiting for whatever time limit is set, If they tried they would be told they have downloaded enough for a while and to give it a rest.

WZZZ 10-23-2006 02:50 PM

Well so not who will not help instead of domain.org/forum/downloads.php on domain.org/files/index.php ???

This feature has already been coded and tested. Will be released soon in ver 5.0.4.

If I understand you right, you want to place downloads.php in a folder named files then rename downloads.php to index.php. You may be able to achieve that by some rewrite rule in htaccess or by finding all occurrances of downloads.php and changing them to index.php. Either way, I'm afraid that's well beyond the scope of support I can provide.

DementedMindz 10-23-2006 06:39 PM

yeah im not sure i never had a problem with it then this little period was there. I been looking every where to find this. where is that textarea?

I'm at a loss for what to tell you. Here's the same code from one of the sites I help run.

HTML Code:

<textarea name="message" id="vB_Editor_001_textarea" rows="10" cols="60" style="width:540px; height:250px" tabindex="1" dir="ltr"></textarea>
There's no dot. The code is the basic vbulletin code to use the wysiwyg editor.

To make sure I understand, when you click "Add" to create a new entry, the dot is already in the description box?
