Does every site need a separate key?

It's been a while since I installed this and, with the site being down, I cannot remember - but could I use the key from a previous installation on another domain?

Looks like the site no longer exists and my old key no longer works. Is there a way to modify this plugin so that it can look to my site for the list of countries and IP's? All I really need it for is to prevent specific countries from registering.

Some of my clients use this mod:

I don't think it will block but it will moderate..

Yes, that mod, Administrative and Maintenance Tools - Moderate New Registrations Based On IP Geographical Origin - vBulletin.org Forum, was still working well on a forum where I was an admin. You do need to update the IP addresses periodically (see the mod instructions) but it worked well on 4.2.x sites.

I only stopped using it because the forum went to full moderation for all new registrations.

RichieBoy67 10-23-2017 08:45 PM

Really? That hasn't happened to me. I haven't done anything with the ips...

djbaxter 10-23-2017 08:57 PM

You should be updating them. With declining IP4 addresses, and reassigning them to other locales, by now you are probably blocking IPs you don't want to block. For example, several IP4 ranges that used to be in Asian countries are now assigned to the US.

At the very worst they go into moderation I believe. I will have to check as it has been awhile. Thanks

djbaxter 10-23-2017 09:13 PM

That's correct but if your clients are assuming any registration in moderation is "bad" they might not be checking further.

Hi guys,

I quit updating this MOD long ago, but am work on something new and better.

I'll keep you posted.

@RichieBoy67
You'll need to keep those IP updated. IP owners change all the time.

Fassim you didn't have to worry about that because we kept everything up to date on our end.. when a request came in it would check in real time.
