westpointer/Jelle, for the next version, can you make it so it show the number of votes casted?

To fix it, run this query (if you use a prefix, you need to add it): [sql]ALTER TABLE `dl_votes` CHANGE `value` `value` DECIMAL( 2, 1 ) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '0.0'[/sql] I will look into your suggestion to show the amount of votes. Maybe we add it to 5.0, otherwise it will be something for the next release. Good news for the people who wanted a download button instead the tiny links: there will be one in version 5.0 :) |
Hi Jelle,
My member did some test and found out more about the voting problems. I haven't applied your fix yet. Quote:
Also one of my members (in Registered group) reported having trouble deleting his comments, even though it worked for me. Thanks for the upload button. :) After using the system heavily for the last few days, another useful feature would be to allow multiple files per file entry, for things like patch. This way people don't need to re-upload the whole big file -- just the patch. This is different from allowing multiple mirrors for a file (which also would be a nice feature to have). Quote:

Yes, the fix will solve your problem (normally) ;)
It's because the A+ has got a value of 10, A has got a value of 9.5, A- a value of 9.3, ... The database field was "int", because of that everything after the "." was lost. So 9.5 and 9.3 became 9, ... The fix changes the database field to decimal :) I don't find it a very good system, so I think we need to recode it a bit. A+, A, A-, ... I find it a bit stupid, so we are thinking about replacing it with something more clear. Stars for example like the thread rate  The amount of votes will be something for a next release (5.1 or something like that). So we can totally revise the rating system. Wespointer is working on a latest feature, after that 5.0.1 will be released  |
Cool. I will apply the fix soon. I also agree the thread rate stars is better. It's easier to see, for one thing.
BTW, is there a way to make it show just the direct sub-categories, instead of all sub-categories like it does now? I added lots of sub-cats and the sub-cat links on the main page is becoming hard to use. I know I could hide the listing on main page but it would be better to make it show the category's direct sub-cats (ex. 1 level down). Sorry for asking so many questions. :) |
This isn't possible at the moment, but we will look into this for the next release ;)
I think there are lots of good ideas to make the next version a 'new features release'. Now we have to find the time to code them :knockedout: :p The most wanted feature is definitely a "report a download" function, so that's something we really need to add. |
I installed the mod. Changed the setting to what I wanted and allowed certian usergroups to use it. I also created categories. But when I go to the forum none of them show up? How do I get the download categories to show up so users can upload/download files?
