The image is normally provided separately from the link/file.

The first step is to set LDM/admin/settings/link_imagesize to the size of the thumbnail you want to display. Otherwise, you are not given the option to specify an image in the add/edit entry form. (Up to LDM version 2.2.9, you have to do this step explicitly. From 2.3.0, it will automatically pick up a value from vbulletin if necessary)

It is also a good idea to specify LDM/admin/settings/thumbs_dir, so that LDM can cache the thumbnails of your images, but this is not essential.

After you have done this, the add/edit entry form contain one or two extra fields, for pointing to an image and for uploading an image. (The field for uploading an image only appears if you have also enabled uploads.)

The thumbnail image is also created automatically in the following situations:
- Your main file is an image, or
- Your main file is an mp3 file containing albumart *and* you have installed the ID3tags extra for LDM.

Thanks for the other info, but thsi increases the size of the player. I want to increase the size of the actual video shown within the player.

Video size is determined by the video itself when it is encoded. The video can be reduced/ enlarged by some media players, but VB or LDM does not control that setting. Also, the player needs to support the codec used to decode the video and support auto-sizing of the video. So there are several reasons why the video size is not what you want.... none of which is due to VB or LDM.

You have two problems.

- The French language file contains an old and incorrect phrase - it should say 'Transf?r?' rather than 'Espace disque utilis?' - i.e the vba module is trying to report the number of bytes downloaded, not the number of bytes stored.

- You have also given all usergroups the LDM permission *can_bypass_bandwidth_limits*. This means that the "Hit recording" process treats all accesses as being 0 bytes long (i.e. no bandwidth used). For this reason, your vba module reports "0 bytes" transferred.

thanks, it work now.

(I can't delete the historique of the debug with internet explorer, but with firefox it's possible).

When I view the video normally from my desktop, the size can be adjusted and is much bigger. So why is it uploading like that?

Okay, I sorted that out. However, can I prevent the installation of a plugin for certain browsers? I don't want users to install a plugin. Which player wouldn't require a plugin?

Is it possible to change the catid and linkid values to the actual names of the categories and links? For example, instead of a catid being referred to as a number 2 or 3, they could be referred to as 'music' , 'pictures', etc. ?

I'd like the names of the categories / links to appear in the URLs, even if with dashes / underscores between words in the URL.

You can go part-way using the seo options (LDM/admin/seo options, and choose 'extended'), provided you are able to set up your web server to process the resulting seo-friendly urls. Doing so is explained in the ldm wiki.

This will generate urls with mixed alpha+numeric category names (c-alpha-1218) and with numeric (1234) linkids.

It is not straightforward to take this further, because a) the names do not have to be unique, and b) coding seo-translators to recognise and handle arbitrary names is a pig of a problem.

I'm currently using the following rewrite-rules with vBSEO, it all works well except that the linkid and catid values are numeric only:

Code:

'^local_links\.php\?action=jump&id=(\d+)&catid=(\d+)' => 'jump/$1/$2.html'
'^local_links\.php\?action=jump&id=(\d+)' => 'jump/$1.html'
'^local_links\.php$' => 'index.php'
'^local_links\.php\?catid=(\d+)&linkid=(\d+)' => 'category/$1/$2.html'
'^local_links\.php\?catid=(\d+)' => 'category/$1.html'
'^local_links\.php\?catid=-(\d+)' => 'category/-$1.html'
'^local_links\.php\?action=play&catid=(\d+)&linkid=(\d+)' => 'category/$1/play/$2.html'
'^local_links\.php\?action=play&catid=(\d+)&linkid=(\d+)&page=1' => 'category/$1/play/$2.html'

Hi Andrew, I got a new problem with category creation.

After I submitted the request of category creation, the page will be redirected to an error message "Category x does not exist". OK, then I return to the creation page, re-submitted it -- after that I got two new categories, all the same but has different category ID. And I tried to delete one of them (the one with the bigger ID number), but after that both categories are gone!

The category I want to create is a subcategory, it has extended description and parent forum. Also there is one attribute group, it includes 2 attributes, one of them is required value.

[Edit]
Well, I checked the database. The category I created before is still there, it just doesn't have the value of "catdate" (it is 0), maybe because of this it doesn't show up.

Very strange. I can't immediately reproduce this. Can you confirm which code release you are using, and check if you have modified the links_addnewcat, links_addnewlink_catselect_one, or links_addnewcat_oneentity template.

Also, do you by any chance have the php suhosin module installed? I've just worked with another site that has had strange behaviour with category creation, linked to that module.
