The Bitfield XML must be uploaded before the Product XML is being imported - as stated in the documentation.
If you are not sure if you did that:

Check if the File is present and call admincp/index.php?do=buildbitfields

That should fix the Problem.

There is no one line which is:

$threadmanagement

So, I took a guess in following the instructions as precisely as possible, and put the "ABOVE that ADD" coding in the following place in the 2nd of 3 instances of $threadmanagement in the newthread file:

{
PUT CODING HERE
$threadmanagement = '';
}

Of course, this results in an error in my forum when one creates a new thread.

Would someone please instruct me as to where exactly I am to put the coding? Thank you.

I appreciate you making this hack and if I get it to work, I think it will be a valuable addition, but I don't see why this hack or any other "shouldn't" be updated to go with the latest version of the forum. Granted, you don't have to give any of your time to update it, but it's certainly not "not necessary."
