Did you check and save your vBookie settings?
Those have changed and MUST be saved after an upgrade.

So I upload "includes" by FTP to my forums directory ?

Thing is there is already a folder there called Includes so surely that is going to overwrite that folder ? or do I just upload in FTP the individual files into the existing Includes directory ?

And what about the "images" folder and the VBookie PHP file ?

Sorry about all these questions but right now I am so stressed I feel on the point of a breakdown and can't do this task without being told how to do it in here

Cheertobi 02-17-2006 09:03 AM

Got it working now, after rebuilding bitfields!

Thanks for that hack ;)

Frank Butcher 02-17-2006 09:13 AM

Can someone please answer my question :)

Frank Butcher 02-17-2006 10:43 AM

I think I have it sorted now but I can find nowhere to actually create an event

Have I done something wrong ?

chairman miaow 02-17-2006 10:58 AM

You create events by posting a message in the forum - there should be a "post a vbookie event" box near where the create a poll option is

Frank Butcher 02-17-2006 11:05 AM

Aah thanks :)

Yeah I was guessing that they have to be created in the VBookie CP that I screen shotted

Frank Butcher 02-17-2006 11:12 AM

I have seriously screwed it up :(

In Admin Panel when I create settings for usergroups to use VBookie it automatically sets them back to No so there is no option there so I have majorly messed up somewhere

The VBookie PHP file was that meant to be uploaded to the main forums directory or to another folder?

chairman miaow 02-17-2006 11:17 AM

You have to re-build the bitfields :

The Bitfield XML must be uploaded before the Product XML is being imported - as stated in the documentation.
If you are not sure if you did that:

Check if the File is present and call admincp/index.php?do=buildbitfields

That should fix the Problem.

Frank Butcher 02-17-2006 11:31 AM

Thanks :) all is fine now :D

One last question sorry, I only installed it on the default skin, is there any way of transferring it to all the others in one go or does each skin have to be done individually ? if the latter then I will just leave it on default

NoRespect 02-18-2006 06:52 AM

Andreas,

I had a working 1.05 on my server, everything was great. Upgraded to 1.06 and no bets paid out. No biggie. Installed eBux/eStore and then vBookie 1.06 (using eBux).

Everything seemed fine until I paid out my first bet. I (my admin name) recieved ALL the winnings, but the posts says it paid out correctly. It's very odd.

I reuploaded all the files, and reinstalled it...but I haven't paid out anything else yet (scared!).

Ideas?

got1-2 02-18-2006 10:05 AM

Got it working great..
Now about the typo error in the area at the bottom. of the page Edit Event
Quote:

Select this box if you want to allow people to vote more than once on this Event. If you leaev this box unselected, people will not be able to bet for more than one Outcome, nor for the same Outcome more than once.
I just done a search and replace in Phrase's, and hey presto..all done

Hope this helps...

RGSMDNR 02-18-2006 11:31 AM

im having an issue with vbookie, i made a test bet, had some members bet on it, and when i settled all bets.. I got all the winnings... that shouldnt be.. should it?

MPDev 02-18-2006 01:08 PM

For the 1.0.7 update; do you need to reimport the XML orjust update the PHP files?

Andreas 02-18-2006 01:10 PM

If you want the phrase fix as well, import the XML - otherwise just overwrite the functions file.

Tuxeh 02-18-2006 03:39 PM

a lot of my bets have repetitive outcomes, for example "who will win the 2006 F1 championship", "who will win the first F1 race in 2006" etc etc. they will all have the same outcome select (schumacher, button, coulthard etc etc etc)

so im wondering if its possible to have templates to select from for the outcomes.

or if thats allready an option, where can i find it (i looked in all the obvious places but didnt see anything)

Thanks for the great mod :)

NoRespect 02-18-2006 07:59 PM

My vBookie setup uses my eStore/eBux money. I just noticed this (1.07):

From the eStore:

Midge.T - 51,764.96 Points
RainbowTwinkieJuice - 44,649.44 Points
glass1217 - 36,064.51 Points
sharp - 20,914.30 Points
ELTGuy - 20,876.53 Points
TX SVT LIGHTNING - 10,644.81 Points
Nawz King - 10,020.81 Points
Jake - 6,475.07 Points
Amay - 6,032.06 Points

From vBookie bet stats:

Midge.T has a total of 51164.19028
TX SVT LIGHTNING has a total of 10644.81000
Nawz King has a total of 10020.81000
NoRespect has a total of 6010.68438
Amay has a total of 5532.06188

This was done at the same exact time.

Andreas 02-18-2006 08:27 PM

It is impossible that this was done at the same time, due to the fact that IP is a serial communication protocol.

The points for TX SVT LIGHTNING and Nawz King are the same.
Midge.T and Amay are slightly different, don't know why.

Frank Butcher 02-18-2006 09:28 PM

Do I have to uninstall the existing version and upload the zip file contents or do I just overwrite existing files with the new bits ?

Andreas 02-18-2006 10:44 PM

You can uninstall and then install again.
However, you will lose all cash and events then, as uninstall deletes all data the belongs to this hack.

wilburshere 02-19-2006 07:37 AM

well i just uploaded new files and overwrote old ones and did the same with the product as well cool

baerwurz 02-19-2006 10:11 AM

Will the vCash been payout automatically?

Or what do I have to do?

Thanks, very nice Hack for me!

Stunner Inc. 02-19-2006 12:01 PM

I just did the Update and everything went fine. But what I forgot to post when I first saw the problem is that my newer skins don't show the option to make an vBookie event which is usually above/below Add A Poll.

Attached SHOULD be the pics explaining what I mean.

http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/7114/old0ds.jpg
http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/6862/new5nu.jpg

The silver skin is the only skin showing the vBookie Option
The Black skin (and 2 more skins) does not.
Bottom line I wish to know what to add and to what to make ALL of my skins have the vBookie Option:)

TbChampions 02-19-2006 02:03 PM

The readme file says:

3) In Template newthread
FIND
--------------------------------------------------
$threadmanagement
--------------------------------------------------

ABOVE that ADD
--------------------------------------------------
<if condition="$show['vbookieevent']">
<fieldset class="fieldset">
<legend>$vbphrase[post_a_vbookieevent]</legend>
<div style="padding:$stylevar[formspacer]px">
<div><label for="cb_postvbookieevent"><input type="checkbox" name="postvbookieevent" value="yes" id="cb_postvbookieevent" tabindex="1" $checked[postvbookieevent] />$vbphrase[yes_post_a_vbookieevent_thread]</label></div>
</div>
</fieldset>
</if>
--------------------------------------------------

There is no one line which is:

$threadmanagement

So, I took a guess in following the instructions as precisely as possible, and put the "ABOVE that ADD" coding in the following place in the 2nd of 3 instances of $threadmanagement in the newthread file:

{
PUT CODING HERE
$threadmanagement = '';
}

Of course, this results in an error in my forum when one creates a new thread.

Would someone please instruct me as to where exactly I am to put the coding? Thank you.

JBMoney 02-19-2006 02:26 PM

Just for clarification, what specifically do I need to do to upgrade from vBookie v1.0.5 to v1.0.7?

Do I just overwrite functions_vbookie.php and make one edit to postbit/postbit_legacy?

My apologies if this has already been answered.

TbChampions 02-19-2006 03:45 PM

Well, forget the following post. I wondered how I was the only one with this problem, but now I see that the script reads differently if you open it in the admin panel rather than the old-fashioned way I was doing it -- open in notepad, search for the text, add the change, save, upload via FTP.

Sorry.

I came here and have spent an hour reading old posts in a 39 page thread, trying to find the correct coding, and have yet to find it.

I appreciate you making this hack and if I get it to work, I think it will be a valuable addition, but I don't see why this hack or any other "shouldn't" be updated to go with the latest version of the forum. Granted, you don't have to give any of your time to update it, but it's certainly not "not necessary."

I said that it is not necessary to update this Hack, because it is not necessary :)
The install instructions were left unchanged (except that I recently replaced the hardcoded text with phrases) since 3.5.0 RC2.
So where is the point in "updating" them when in fact nothing has changed?

Also, $threadmanagement definitly exists in Template newthread.
If it does not, you are either looking somewhere wrong or your template is seriously messed up.

JBMoney 02-19-2006 04:14 PM

In my case, I need to upgrade for the eBux integration.

Rather a newb question but what is meant by "Import product-bookiehack.xml", specifically the "import" part. I have uploaded the other files and edited the templates as required, but nothing displays/is working at the moment.

Go into your admin cp, then expand plugin system and select manage products, from the resulting screen select add/import product, then select upload the XML file from your computer after browsing to the xml file on your pc. Then select Import ;)

Permissions are set for usergroups AND forums.

So you'll need to make sure both.

So let me get this straight, if the user wins - would I have to manually go into my payment gateway - i.e paypal - and send them the winnings? - or does it automatically transfer the winnings to them?

i.e if they bet £50 - and they win with a 4/1 - would my paypal automatically send them the £250? - or do I have to do it myself?

This is all about virtual money (vCash, or uCash/eBux), not real money ...

Though you have in your statement:
"option to use uCash, eBux or any other cash/points-system (via Plugins)"

Can we not use a paypal plugin?
