You have to edit all the templates and replace the code for all of the ones that are listed in edited templates folder.

Then it will show up.

Edit it seems you have forgotten to edit drkslinks_catbit

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 02:44 AM

After you apply the upgrade properly it should look something like jacobi's

cindyd 07-20-2003 02:47 AM

Just a note, that the Home link at the bottom doesn't take you back to the forum home page, it keeps you right on the links page. But that one I can fix all on my own.

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 02:49 AM

The home button is supposed to take you back to the Links Directory Home page.

cindyd 07-20-2003 02:49 AM

I'm good to go Keptic, thanks for working on this tonight.

Looks great, now that I can see it! :banana:

Oh, I had a link to go to my forum home page before, that's cool.

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 02:50 AM

Cindyd, you will also have to apply the new drkslinks_linkbit template.

Your links directory is looking nice :)

cindyd 07-20-2003 02:54 AM

If you could take a quick look here:

http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/forum...wlinks&catid=4

I thought I had edited all the templates, did I miss something on the right?

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 02:55 AM

Everything looks ok now!

cindyd 07-20-2003 02:59 AM

Except, on the inside pages, I have a big dark column on the right......

http://www.glassmavenhaven.com/forum...wlinks&catid=2

Did I miss something?

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 03:01 AM

I actually do not see anything :-/ Maybe a screenshot?

cindyd 07-20-2003 03:11 AM

Screen shot attached. I am talking about the column where I put the red arrow.

I may be too tired to see what the problem is.

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 03:23 AM

I actually do not see that. It looks perfect to me :-/ Must be browser problems. Wierd though. I will try to make the next update some templates more browser friendly.

cindyd 07-20-2003 03:27 AM

You;re right, it looks great on IE, but on Opera it looks like that screen shot.

I know already I have a few questions for you, but they can wait until tomorrow.

Thanks again!

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 03:33 AM

No problem!

Bye!

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 03:59 AM

If you install this hack, please click the install button, so support can be provided, and when v3 comes out, you can be given notice. Also all upgrades, and patches will be sent to anyone who clicks install

Russ_T 07-20-2003 01:01 PM

Ok problems

I just ran the version 2.5 update, I have some issues

Firstly I have to update a template called drkslinks template, I cannot find said template.

the drkslinks and drkslinks_addnewlink aren't formatted correctly and have no new lines in them so its hard to read.

Category is still misspelt everywhere.

And now my www.zclub.net/forum/links.php does nadda, nothing, and is broke from the upgrade :(

Any ideas please? I'm disappointed as version 2 worked perfectly and did really well for me.

Thanks

Russ_T 07-20-2003 01:33 PM

Ok well I deleted everything, reinstalled, and used the NEW upgrade zip file (you never mentioned you changed it) and normality is restored except I lost all my links (no biggie).

Thanks

Russ_T 07-20-2003 01:57 PM

Well actually I got that wrong, its back where it was early, not working.

Things worked kinda until I uploaded the new links.php and now NOTHING displays. Can you look into it please?

www.zclub.net/forum/links.php

cindyd 07-20-2003 02:15 PM

Russ: I went through this last night..... You must make a new template called drkslinks, and add the contents of drkslinks.txt in it.

Russ_T 07-20-2003 02:21 PM

I have done this as per the new upgrade instructions, but its still blank.

Thanks

Russ_T 07-20-2003 02:25 PM

ARGH!

I misspelled drkslinks drklinks... what a noob :D

Thank you Cindy as otherwise i'd never have spotted it and had lots of problems for a long time :D

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 03:18 PM

Yea its a bit confusing, I will be releasing an automated upgrade which will get rid of the extra templates which are not used any more.

cindyd 07-20-2003 03:29 PM

Afternoon Keptic.....I had the templates previously moderated, as I didn't want all the header info at the top of the main table.....now you have this line inthe code:

<body>$header$navbar<normalfont>$navgon</normalfont><br><br>

If I remove $header and put the actual text in there that I want, will it be OK?

DrkFusion 07-20-2003 03:39 PM

Yes...but try to follow the same table structure if you keep the footer that is.

Test around :) If it doesn't work revert it back :)

cindyd 07-20-2003 03:41 PM

Thanks, it's good to know I can revert if I totally FUBAR it.

cindyd 07-20-2003 04:07 PM

Keptic: there isn't any "revert back to original" on the new template. Just a thought for the next version.

Holidazed 07-20-2003 04:35 PM

Thanks Keptic. It is working fine now.

cindyd 07-20-2003 05:16 PM

Keptic: when I originally installed this hack, it directed me to input a "test" link. After that I deleted it, but on certain searches it will show up and I don't know how to get rid of it.

It doesn't show up on any category, just under Popular links and newest links

Screen shot attached.

Is there a way to get rid of it?

jacobi 07-20-2003 08:04 PM

cindyd -- that's a strange problem. I tried creating a test link, then deleting it, and even recreating it and "making" it popular, calling it up as a popular link; then deleting it, and I could not recreate that error.

keptic -- I found a few more problems:
  • Links are no longer alphabetized within their categories. <<Example Link Category>> They appear in the order inputted. I realize there is no way to manually override the order, but it would be nice if they were at least alphabetized.
  • I still cannot change the name of a link in the Admin CP -- I can, however, edit the description. There's a case where I used an ampersand (the "&" sign), and it parses wrong, and I tried to edit it to read "and," and it wouldn't work, even though it told me it did.
These are minor bugs, as far as I'm concerned, but it would be nice to have them fixed for the next version. ;)

Thanks!
-AJ

In links.php..

change this:
PHP Code:

$links $DB_site->query("
    SELECT *
    FROM gportal_weblinkslink
    WHERE catagoryid =
$catid AND valid= '1'
"
);

to this:
PHP Code:

$links $DB_site->query("
    SELECT *
    FROM gportal_weblinkslink
    WHERE catagoryid =
$catid AND valid= '1' ORDER BY linkname ASC
"
);

This should do it...

cindyd 07-20-2003 08:17 PM

I'll tell ya AJ, if it's somethine weird, strange or just plain out there, it will happen to me!

I also found in the Add a link section, all the "category" words are spelled wrong.

I had that parse error with the & also.

I requested a hack similiar to the smilie hack that would allow us to put in the links in an order of our choosing, but alpha would work for me right now.

Dark_Wizard 07-20-2003 08:18 PM

In weblinksadmin.php...after // ############################# Edit Link #########################

change this:
PHP Code:

if ($action=="editlink") {
$sql "SELECT * FROM gportal_weblinkslink WHERE linkid=$linkid";

$result mysql_query($sql);

$myrow mysql_fetch_array($result);

$linkid=$myrow["linkid"];

$linkname=$myrow["linkname"];

$linkdesc=$myrow["linkdesc"];

$linkurl=$myrow["linkurl"];

doformheader("weblinksadmin","doeditlink");

makehiddencode("linkid",$linkid);

maketableheader("Edit Link");

makeinputcode("Link Name","linkname","$linkname");

makeinputcode("Link URL","linkurl","$linkurl");

maketextareacode("Link Description","linkdesc","$linkdesc");
doformfooter("Edit");

to this:
PHP Code:

if ($action=="editlink") {
$sql=$DB_site->query_first("SELECT * FROM gportal_weblinkslink WHERE linkid=$linkid");

doformheader("weblinksadmin","doeditlink");

makehiddencode("linkid",$sql[linkid]);

maketableheader("Edit Link");

makeinputcode("Link Name","linkname",$sql[linkname]);

makeinputcode("Link URL","linkurl",$sql[linkurl]);

maketextareacode("Link Description","linkdesc",$sql[linkdesc]);
doformfooter("Edit");

let me know if this does it...

cindyd 07-20-2003 08:22 PM

Thanks Dark Wizard!

Dark_Wizard 07-20-2003 08:23 PM

Again in weblinksadmin.php...after // ############################# Do Edit Link #########################

change this:
PHP Code:

if ($HTTP_POST_VARS['action']=="doeditlink") {

$sql "UPDATE gportal_weblinkslink SET linkname='$linkname',linkurl='$linkurl', linkdesc='$linkdesc' WHERE linkid=$linkid";

$result mysql_query($sql);
    echo
"This link has been updated Successfully.";

to this:
PHP Code:

if ($HTTP_POST_VARS['action']=="doeditlink") {

$sql "UPDATE gportal_weblinkslink SET linkname='$linkname',linkurl='".addslashes($linkurl)."', linkdesc='".addslashes(htmlspecialchars($linkdesc))."' WHERE linkid=$linkid";

$result mysql_query($sql);
    echo
"This link has been updated Successfully.";

Again...let me know if this helps...

Bob: what is that 2nd mod for?

Bob: what is that 2nd mod for?

It's for editing the Link Name in the admincp. The third is for the & problem in the description....

cindyd 07-20-2003 08:38 PM

For continuity sake, the navigation bar that is at the bottom of the browselink template and the main links template isn't the same as in the add newlink template

Thanks for those fixes Bob!

NP...is everything else working?

cindyd 07-20-2003 08:50 PM

Not exactly, the edit feature is buggy. When I go to the CP and select a link to edit, the edit screen comes up, but it is blank. I tried to change one link and had to end up deleting it and re-entering it.

Is this after my fix? Try the fix again...I updated it...
